What a world we live in when we throw out items because of such a small problem. Such a wasteful society.

It is what it is, I get a grinder out of it. It is not the fault of the guy who threw it out, how can a company make a product like this and a profit too?

Non contact AC tester, small money & very handy diagnostic tool. Saves so much time Mr B. Ya could have just plugged that in & ran the tester along the cable finding the break.

Is that like the little pen thing that beeps when there is a live wire. I have one of them if it is. Didn't think it would show up a break.

@@bootsowen yea, if the flex is live it will bleep. I had a bit of a head scratcher last week with a Nilfisk. Turned out the flex was broke internally and without a mark on the outer insulation. Without the non contact tester I'd have to guess where the break was. Usually it's at the moulded plug or at the start of the cable Strain, but in my case it had no visable damage. Perhaps as your neutral was damaged it might not detect it, but I'd be sure your live wasn't allowing full 240 line voltage through & the beeps would have detected it.
8 euro in Lidl. It's a no brainer Mr B.

Nice one, still hitachi owned asfaik but manufactured in China. I just bought one for €85 new, I cant figure how to lock the trigger in place for continuous work??

Hi, you can't lock the trigger in place, it's safer for you that way. when I bought my makita years ago the manual showed the different variants for eu countries at the time, most had the feature where you have to "unlock" the trigger somehow, as do they all nowadays, but at that time Portugal had a straight switch, pull and go, I don't remember if any still had the lock on like drills and jigsaws have. You can slip a cable tie up and down.

@@bootsowen Yeah a work mate just told me they are a called "dead man switch" designed to cut off in case of an accident and also to prevent the machine from running if plugged in and the switch was locked on! Thanks pal 👍

Owen, I'd say that the diamond blade is a real good extra, the only thing for cutting roof and floor tiles. So working grinder and blade, it should see you out, cheers

@@bootsowen Owen, when I laid the reclaimed quarry tiles at home a diamond blade on my 9 inch angle grinder was the only thing that would touch them. So keep it just for that type of job. Cheers
