Having just had this done a week ago, this is pretty accurate.
These days a big issue is transparency in medical costs. So far, I would have to grade this provider with an A+. Excellent. Being an IT person I sometimes like to clarify the steps.
1. Call and make an appointment for evaluation. Give them your medical insurance information if any.
2. Attend the appointment and get the evaluation.
3. Tell them you want to proceed.
4. Based on your evaluation, and any medical insurance or other billing information you provided, they will discuss possible dates and also give you some options and inform you of the costs for the different options. Totally transparent. You know the costs before you have anything done and I believe the evaluation fee goes towards the cost as long as you proceed with the operation.
Can't really ask for more. Reasonable and transparent billing and top quality care from a hernia specialist who has years of experience.
All fees, including anesthesiologists, are disclosed.

Costs for uninsured patients are approximately $1500 for the surgeon fees, and $2000 for the surgery center fees (including OR time, materials, and recovery) for a total of approximately $3500.

Do guys diagnose or do I have to show up w a referral
Enrique, About 90% of patients can have their hernia diagnosed by simple history and physical exam. If imaging is needed, most surgeons can order those tests when indicated. Best, CAHS
my insurance so far paid 18k that includes anesthisia o.r services and recorvy room

I have mixed feelings about my hernia surgery. My inguinal hernia pain is gone, but I can still feel the mesh inside my body and it feels weird. I can't do abdominal exercises anymore because my abdomen feels too tight. I guess it is just the way it is. 🤷

Finally, one good thing about the country where I live...healthcare is free...every and any surgery, even the laparoscopic one.

Would fly out there from NC if I could. Would be nice to get mine repaired by a hernia specialist. Very reasonable for specialist. I have Medicare Advantage insurance

in india it costs 30-50 thousand , open being 30-40 thousand and laparoscopy cost 40-50 thousand !
and in government hospitals it is nearly free!
And in 5***** hospitals it is above 50-60 thousand
