For the second one, don’t make the entrance like that. The player could just stand in front of the door until the P-switch runs out, and then the boss would be way less enjoyable. Instead, maybe do a P-door?
Also I noticed that you can just stand next to the one way walls and kill off a whole side at once as the clouds will just run into it full force...trying to figure a way around that atm Edit: figured it out for me anyways, made the floor icicles so it falls away and long enough so you dont have enough time to linger at the start. Also added a thwomp for good measure lol

I'm usually pretty bad with bosses, some great ideas here! I think combining some of the ideas presented could make for larger and even more interesting boss fights. The pokey one seems pretty easy so adding PillarBoo's obstacles might make it harder.

I favorite boss battle is the fire piranha plants! I even added that same boss battle to one of my courses! This makes boss battles even more interesting for sure! Thanks a bunch, I am currently working on a Mario Maker game and I wanted some unique boss ideas. Koopalings would get boring so I wanted some nice surprises,
Ugh... now I have to think real hard if I am going to make my levels better. sigh... so frustrating and annoying. My levels are going to take longer to do at my rate.
If you go for the piranha plant bullet bill, make sure that you can’t even ENTER the room with the boss unless a p switch is on. What you could do to cheese that is you activate the p switch, collect all the coins, and wait for the p switch to end. Then walk in the room and the piranha plants are disconnected.
Stop that by putting a block on a track over the door. If the p switch is activated, the block will be a coin and you can go through the door. If not, the door is blocked by the block.
There’s actually a way to beat the pokey boss in one hit, you just have to throw the shell upwards while moving forward a bit. The momentum keeps the shell moving forward, and it lands on each part of the stack, killing all of it.
Excellent video! The trick on boss fight 2 is insane, manipulating p-switches to get piranhas to stick to the bill blaster is something I didn't know was possible.
i made a monty mole tank fight i used slow conveyerbelts as ground because that gives the ilusion that the tank is driving he has 2 phases phase 1: he has a flame trower that protects a snake block that can destroy a bill-blaster and move you to phase 2 phase 2: the first blaster is destroyed that protected the weak point and a new harder blaster, ground pound on the brick block to release a bob-omb that kills the monty mole and awards you with the key

Can you do the Powerful Pokey bossfight with Pokeys? Pokeys are in Super Mario Maker 2 now. 😁 Also for Perilous Piranha Plants you can kill the Piranha Plants by squishing them with the Bull's Eye Blasters and the wall.
Absolutely! The idea actually works even better now by blocking off the top of the pokey and making it taller, you can extend the fight. Nice method to destroy the flying piranha.
I made a 3 phase colossal spike, Phase 1: reach the top and dodge the spike balls, once you reach the head, ground pound the left side. Phase 2: The head gets bigger and the platforms will get hard to reach, again dodge spike balls and ground pound the right side of the head. Phase 3: The spike is now exposed, but the spike is not going out without a fight, reach the bottom and defeat him. The code is KM8-R5K-0JF

Continued from my last comment. Two things I’d like to see in any future Mario Maker sequels. 1) Since games often times has crossovers and guest characters. Maybe have Little Mac or someone from one of the SNK fighting games or any old school fighting game from that era be a guest character like some are for smash brothers. That way you can add some new variety to it. 2) If nothing from number 1. Add some of the punching and kicking motions from Mario 64 into the mix and have it where Mario and other characters can grab more types of enemies and throw them. If none of that is possible. What are some ideas y’all have for any arena fighting or beatum style levels y’all can think of. Also I never thought at 36 I’d be playing a Mario game where you can make your own levels and worlds. I love this game

I made a coure on the first mario maker game where you had to throw spiny shelmets at bowser to progress. You could also run under him when he jumped to deal damage with the helmets.

@@claudio-maker2943 You are unable to get the fire until you go through the clear pipe. The pipe doesn't let you back through either. Not sure how it would be cheesed.
Something I came up with in my theme of levels is a mash up of beatum ups, Zelda, smash bro’s and normal Mario platform play. By this I mean I create three fighting arena stages. Two that has clear conditions and one no clear conditions. For arena 1-1: Mario 1 game style. Clear condition, reach the goal as link. There are two optional “cage fights.” Opening of the level a seasaw with three master swords, a ?block with master sword as well. First cage match is a spike trap cage vs one of the koopa kids. I can’t remember which one, he’s the one that if jumps and lands fire balls go around, I made super mushroom size. Inside the cage is a block with a master sword and I think one with fire power. The second cage fight requires you to be link. It’s an full enclosed cage with bowser and bowser jr in it. You have a fire flower and a star man power up to use with a red bullet bill stand shooting out master swords. Another arena uses bullies, Pom Pom and boom boom. 3D world style large hammer bro’s and fire ball bro’s. You use cannon suit, boomer rang bullet bill or fire power, star man and all default skills. Condition clear after collecting all 50 coins. Since it’s not quite a bestum up nor an actual smash bro’s game. I love making themes like that. To me it feels like retro and new school type beatum up themes I’m going for.
You’re welcome! It can work in any game style and you can try to use different enemies instead of wigglers if you adjust it a little bit. Are you making a Star Wars level?

I wanted to make a boom boom castle level with rolling spikes (because of the update) and I wanted to make a boss battle with walls that close in to make it feel like more of a boss battle. I used a method where you use on/off blocks on the conveyer belt, but this method is definitely better! My level will be called Mad Lad's spike factory. I will post the code here when I complete it. @@Arrowstotle your best bet I know is putting a coin below the door but that door can still be entered without the P being active with a pixel perfect entry collecting the coin under the door while still entering the door right after the P timer goes away

I made a coure on the first mario maker game where you had to throw spiny shelmets at bowser to progress. You could also run under him when he jumped to deal damage with the helmets.

My boss courses aren’t completely creative because they use bosses given To u, but I added things To make them harder

Yeah, that Piranha boss now doesn’t work that well now, because when it loads, only the right row of piranha plants spawn in.

@@claudio-maker2943 You are unable to get the fire until you go through the clear pipe. The pipe doesn't let you back through either. Not sure how it would be cheesed.

Something I came up with in my theme of levels is a mash up of beatum ups, Zelda, smash bro’s and normal Mario platform play.
By this I mean I create three fighting arena stages. Two that has clear conditions and one no clear conditions.
For arena 1-1:
Mario 1 game style. Clear condition, reach the goal as link. There are two optional “cage fights.” Opening of the level a seasaw with three master swords, a ?block with master sword as well. First cage match is a spike trap cage vs one of the koopa kids. I can’t remember which one, he’s the one that if jumps and lands fire balls go around, I made super mushroom size. Inside the cage is a block with a master sword and I think one with fire power. The second cage fight requires you to be link. It’s an full enclosed cage with bowser and bowser jr in it. You have a fire flower and a star man power up to use with a red bullet bill stand shooting out master swords.
Another arena uses bullies, Pom Pom and boom boom. 3D world style large hammer bro’s and fire ball bro’s. You use cannon suit, boomer rang bullet bill or fire power, star man and all default skills. Condition clear after collecting all 50 coins.
Since it’s not quite a bestum up nor an actual smash bro’s game. I love making themes like that. To me it feels like retro and new school type beatum up themes I’m going for.

You’re welcome! It can work in any game style and you can try to use different enemies instead of wigglers if you adjust it a little bit.

@@Arrowstotle No, but that is a very good idea! I wanted to make a boom boom castle level with rolling spikes (because of the update) and I wanted to make a boss battle with walls that close in to make it feel like more of a boss battle. I used a method where you use on/off blocks on the conveyer belt, but this method is definitely better!

For the third one, an easy way to beat it is to turn off the on off switch then hit Bowser Jr, then lure him into the lava

I almost always create a boss of some kind for the end of my courses. Heres one level with Bowser Jr at the end.

I always try to add bowser jr to my boss courses but it always turns out a disaster because it shoots fireballs to fast

True. A better way to prevent that is making sure you can’t move forward unless the p-switch is active.

@@Arrowstotle your best bet I know is putting a coin below the door but that door can still be entered without the P being active with a pixel perfect entry collecting the coin under the door while still entering the door right after the P timer goes away

@@lukario2666 you can just use a P door if you don't give the player infinite P switches (don't know if that can be cheesed with 1 frame left entry)

I made a bowser boss battle but when you defeat him nothing happens lol?
You have to add a key to bowser and make a key door so when you beat bowser you can enter the door
