I know this has been up a while ...but very cool to see this ol Warhorse being saved and taken care of for future generations...Sofi , I love your channel and your passion to save and share this history....Great Job !!!!!!!
Thank you for taking an intimate tour of this work horse. You know what to look from the closeups. Music feel like a religious experience. BTW you and the Chieftain play off each very well too.
Superb ! Love these videos ! I had the chance to get around and inside some of the beautiful Saumur's museum panzers. It's another world in there, very interesting to see all the stuff inside but also asking myself HOW can you do your work in those tiny compartments during the war ?! They were brave 😞
This is an amazing preserved vehicle with very few bits missing. I hope they will leave it as it is, with all the original painting and fittings. That's real history.
This classic Stug has the coaxial machine gun mount fitted in its cast armoured pigs head , to stave off the advancing enemy Infantry masses! Looks like a 3.7cm / L45 main gun off an early model Panzer III in front of the Stug.
Ok-- couple of technical questions--- does a MK III/STUG have torsion bar suspension? I assume based on the trailing arms it does and does it seem that the motion stops above each trailing arm are a bit close? Or, is it sitting low due to age? Also, at around 2:13 there seems to be a lifting hook or some kind on the front of the casemate-- seems small to lift the entire structure off or was this normal? Thin metal rack on the engine deck? Any illumination for what it was? Not the side skirt stuff but what looks like a bigger storage rack.
That's exactly what it was: a storage rack as there was literally no room inside the tank for extras, personal gear or anything else that needed to come along. Those metal plates with the large bolts sticking out sideways were for mounting extra road wheels. STUG IIIs did use torsion bars, much like old VW Bugs did, and they probably just sagged due to age and lack of maintenance.
I reckon the reason the top of the fenders is just red primer is the vehicle has been delivered to the unit in red primer and over spraied with cammos with the schurtzen fitted so there was not point to paint the parts not visible. Probably also the lower part of the hull, the return rollers, and other bits weren't painted as well. In 1945 it was a waste of precious paint.
I really wanted to read the tags on the shocks also maybe bring something to place on the armor plate ends so we can get a quick reference to the thickness
Very Nice, I like your vídeos, You should make some research on Brazilian Osório Tank, unfurtunatly we just made one prototype in the 80s, but It was a good Tank for the time. Already subscribed to your Channel! Thank you for upload the vídeo! You are a Very Beautiful Girl! Congrats from Brazil! God Bless!
StuG of varying types saw service after WWII as well, most notably in Yugoslavia and by Syria through the Six-Day War. ??? Left over survivors or who made them, East or West?
I never noticed a gun mount on a Stug before. But I guess a lot of the Stugs I’ve seen had the short barreled gun. I don’t recon they need an outside gun rest for the short barreled gun. I know that gun mount or barrel rest isn’t the correct term for it, but the proper name fails me right now. Kids, don’t do drugs.
The StuG III and Hetzer were the two deadliest anti-tank killers for Germany in WWII, yet very small. The Huns never figured out that more of these small vehicles was the ticket, for better overall success at destroying Allied armour.
Have you considered creating popups of info/stats/stuff that point out aspects of the tank as you go round? I know you have all that stuff in the description but how many people look at the description? I just feel the video itself could be much more with that. A lot more work I guess too. I do love how smooth and clear your walk arounds are. Great work!
Sofi - You should go to England and do a collaboration with Lindybeige . If you've never been to the British Imperial War Museum, you really must go. Oh, he likes StuG's too! (Crowd source the funding and I bet you could fly first class.)
There isn’t any ‘they’- this is my own channel! I do these trips with limited time (about 5 hrs of film time possible every 5 months...) and wanted to show as many vehicles off as I could. Plus I’m awkward as hell and hate being in front of cameras. There will be another trip very soon which will be rather longer and some time for live Q+A with the prototype American heavies, a handful of the German WWII vehicles and some tank interiors as well. I will show up in due time :) thank you!
@@Sofilein fair enough :) Confidence under scrutiny is a practiced skill, not an innate ability, you'll get there eventually. After all, life experience is a sum of our narrow escapes and what we learn from our faceplants. I really enjoyed your work with "the Chieftain" :D And if you ever visit Sweden, I would love to have your autograph alongside the others on my WoT Strv 103 T-shirt.
The US army armor museums are deplorable. They do Zero conservation that you'd notice. In a century, these will all be unrecognizable lumps of rust. I'm disgusted.
You should at least narrate some of your videos! You have an incredibly sexy voice, and your vid with Chieftain proved that. It was also one of the deciding factors in my choice to sub your channel. (Just a suggestion! Lol.)
It’s planned to work into for the future. My trips out to benning are super short, due to my ‘real job’ schedule and so I try to pack as much content in as little time as possible. Getting video up and some cool vehicles out there for people to see was the first little chapter. NACC Archive Data is a tremendous resource alone- doing the research and putting together all the info and then getting the shots and THEN editing would be a ton of hours I don’t have just for one tank vid. (I’m a part time creator and twitch is the main focus for now.) In the next two weeks there will be some live tank talks with Q+A over probably the American prototype heavies and some of the German vehicles seen in walkarounds. I have a longer trip planned and some more idea of what to produce this time. So you’ll be seeing and hearing more in the next series :) as demand has increased so will the variety and depth of content. thank you!
I figured they could be very helpful for modelers, a simple walkaround to show the smaller parts and the fine details - it’s just filmed on iPhone 7 and enough to capture the form and some character - and to get NACC out there a bit. Incredible collection!
One of the best walk around of the Stug, my favourite tank of all times, thanks you so so much Sof, I am glad I am a sub to this awesome channel.

StuG III is probably my favourite AFV of WW2, the saukopf mantlet of the later models makes it look so sexy.
Thank you very much for showing this wonderful stug III, very good job!

Looks like the one that used to reside at The Patton Museum. That one also had its original paint and markings.
Suggest a close up of the info placard, we could pause and read it for ourselves.
Always interesting from Tankgirl. Thanks!
Nice Stug. Great close ups.
А подшипники ходовой части, оказывается, здорово "потели". Самоходка в оригинальной окраске, что исторически ценно.
Poor Stug is missing her skirts.
torn off by ivan!!!
So technically she is naked.
Hetzer is a bad influence. Always getting Stug into trouble.
Great video. Slow with lots of detail. Thank you.

Reported for pornographic content. love those close ups though. :>
I would say there were up sideskirt shots, but the Stug was not wearing any.
You all are freakin hilarious

What a great Original example of the Stug3!...Where can I go to see these machines?
Nice stuff, but I really want to see a video of the inside of a Stug III
Nice it has not been repaint
Thank you...
Original paint? Fantastic! Hope they never ‘restore’ it and lose some of the history.

Cool

Those from Syria were supplied by yugoslavia and they got them from the soviets I believe
Of course you want to sand and paint these to protect them from corrosion. However, it's really nice to see one in this condition!
This is my second favorite vehicle of WWII, after the SU-76M
Also how'd you manage to get in there? I thought it was closed to the public.
Please help and get the new ft Benning tank museum open, it's taking way to long!!!!

"Huns"? What? You're on the wrong war with that one: think WWI for that term. WW2 usually used others instead.
after all the already known version of it, tank porn has made its debut on the internet.
Still hoping for an M6 (technically T1E1) Heavy walk around

Hey!! My cousin went to Benning for basic
GJ Sofi
What is the gun on display at the start. is that a variant of the stugs initial gun
4Free Probably a 7.5 cm KwK 37 L/24
That needs painted to preserve the body even longer. I wonder if it still has the Maybach in it..
Why paint over the pristine Alkett factory applied camouflage pattern...? This is perfect as it is.

This is how she would take her kids to school.
Best hair ever!
are they restoring it?
I hope not. It's already in excellent condition. Doing anything to it would risk ruining the 100% original finish which would be horrible.
I wish they'd show her. Very smart lady. Actually she a very pretty lady on top of being smart.

3:49 if i owned this i would totally paint a winking pigs face on the mantlet. "oink oink ivan!"
How long have u been into armor? Eversince u got into wot? Or longer?
For as long as I can remember! Got a little die cast Panzer IV when I was about 8
