Exactly. Also, every single melody in here is hauntingly gorgeous while still contributing to the atmosphere. Practically not one second wasted. This album is the closest to perfection they've ever been, in my opinion.
People move on from bleak states of expression. It's not in human nature to wallow in sadness indefinitely, that's why chronic depression is considered a disorder. If Opeth hasn't recaptured their old sound, it's a deliberate choice and not an artistic failure for sure.
The edition i had of this album had 3 bonus tracks. A camel tribute, iron maiden and Celtic frost ❤ My favourite opeth really. The atmosphere and energy is beyond any of their other albums.
I got that album with the bonus tracks when I was 16 and I slipped in the Opeth tunnel with no return, to this day this is one of my favourite one ever.
Lost a little bit of its rawness but gained in space and clarity. I like the new remaster but I also like the classic. This is probably my second favorite Opeth album of all time, beaten only by Still life, but April Ethereal is arguably my favorite song.
I definitely go back and forth between so called favorite Opeth albums, but at this moment, this is definitely it. No other Opeth album sounds quite like this. The atmosphere is incredible and mysterious. Album cover fits perfectly.
When is the song that first got me into Opeth. I had it on one of those magazine compilation CD's. absolutely amazing track and is still the essence of Opeth for me
It may not be Opeth's best album but it has to be their darkest hour. There's no "Benighted", "A Fair Judgement" or "Harvest" here to soften the brutality. Even the acoustic songs on here (Credence, Madrigal) sound cold and twisted.
Hard for me to gauge this remaster, it's not as well done as 'Still Life' was - I think. It's most noticeable with the raindrops and piano intro. Still I love this album so much.
april ethereal into When would be the best encore to finish a live show if you just remove the little intro to When. lights out thinking shows over after april ethereal, then that huge growl to start When.
9:40 I really wanna know how to get this tone. It is the main reason I want to play Guitar. I know nothing of guitar, so... Any and all help is appreciated. Seriously. I have maybe played Guitar for a total of 1 hour in my life.
Starting with a clean tone (obviously), add little reverb and delay and im not shure but seems like it has a little bit of flanger or phaser too, but just enough to shape the tone. Leave the pickup selector in the middle. im not an expert, thats what my ear tells me hahaha.
Finger-picked Stratocaster (or other single-coil pickup, likely a middle position). Compression and chorus effects applied, played through a clean amplifier. A bit of a rarity in Opeth's tone outside this album, but here and especially on Madrigal it really shines.
omg, didn't listen to this album for like 20 years. And I still know every note by heart. This and Blackwater Park are 2 best Opeth albums. Too bad the band is unlistenable for around 20 years now on
Remaster looses some of that acoustic guitar sweetness, they're waayyyyy less up front than on the original. MAYH is best Opeth on most days, and that's saying something.
All Opeth's records from the 90s are legendary! The perfect mix of brutality and melancholy. 🤘🔥
All Opeth albums...period.
Excellentè MUST PLAY LOUD

Every album is legendary with Opeth

Such a brilliant album.. how the music progresses song to song is just like a movie. One of my favorites.
Read the lyrics, they are very good and some are not in songs. Just written
This is the best Opeth album for me, there is a bleakness to the music they haven’t recaptured…

You tend to lose a little bleakness when you have kids.
Nah, they're music has never been happy.
more bleak than Bleak?
This album is so intense, is fucking great
Its not always the first Opeth album I think of, but it absolutely is one of my favorite ones
Awesome album by an awesome band!
Such an amazing album, firmly in my top 10 metal albums of the 1990’s.

That's Peter Lindgren's girlfriend in the album art 🙂 This record is a MASTERPIECE from start to finish 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼
Oh what the hell? I have honestly never even noticed that anyone was standing there in the first place.
just a bunch of trees dude
@@testosteronetips-cf3yq No if you brighten up the picture you can see a woman standing there. She's wearing black which makes her almost invisible
oh now i see it. crazy, she looks morbid. probably fk@@PressContinue
Holy shit I see her I didn’t even notice that took me a minute to figure where she was in the album cover….
I haven't listend to this in years, still lovely, I listened to this record about 500 times on the bus 20 years ago
Demon of the fall and April Ethereal are brilliant songs.
Dang you really took the time to make this a full album. Kudos!

wonderful remastering, so rich.
Simply a Masterpiece !!
32:00 the best part
wow sitting in my car fora cone with my mean sounds, feels like a rebirth of my favourite band
Sabbath vibe to this cover art
From their first album. 😊
Timeless black magic

Opeth, the Pink Floyd of metal 🖤🖤
That’s a great description 🤘
Adele of grindcore
🎉The best Opeth album!!!
Epilogue: Ah yes, death metal Pink Floyd.
literally
My favorite opeth this and morning rise
Morningrise might just be my favourite album of all time
Morningrise is my all time favorite, but This is very very very very good. so good. so very good.
I can't believe 7:00 is one of the least listened to moments on this album. This is premium Opeth here.
pure magick !!! always will be TO ME !!
Last song it's like, you can rest now...
Opeth =brilliance...Nuff said.
Finalmente hanno reso giustizia all’album più bello degli Opeth
Aaaggghhh,discazoo👍
My god, this entire album is such a masterpiece. 🖤
No gods necessary... 😊🕷
@@TobernSavage True, true. 🦇 I just really love this album.
Holy, shit whata great xmas present thank you!!!
SPOT THE PERSON!
best Opeth album
I made fun of my friends for listening to these bands in my teens and 20s but here i am in my 30s digging into Prog Death Metal lol
Something special going on with that bass player....;)
makes me wonder what Mikael would have sounded like if he wasn't sick during the vocal tracking
Holy crap. Is this being uploaded to streaming services?
Yes
opeth masterpiece .THis album is pure genial .

this is no music for cats or cows, you have to be human to superenjoy this
Whatr does "cut at half-speed" mean?
Time stamps?

The closest opeth ever got to pure death metal
Lol Aug 18th is my birthday 😂
I hear no difference
singer seems to have a cold..

Was gonna like but it's at 666 so...
The Opeth has gone to shit as they are doing a remasters of the good old albums now..
So what?
