Yep!! Been “enjoying” the Leafs for decades😂😂😂, this series will be very short. I know when I see a contender and the Leafs 1-7 series record in playoffs says they surely are Not!😅😂 no Leaf as pulled a McDavid and put up incredible playoff numbers, and Boston will shut them down as much as I would like to see otherwise

It comes down to D, systems and goaltending. Some of that is coaching some personnel. And in the D and goalie area Toronto loses slightly in D and is outclassed in net.

You do have to give Boston credit tho they lost Bergeron, Krejci, Hall, Bertuzzi, Foligno, Hathaway, Nosek, Orlov and Clifton and replaced them with JVR shattenkirk Heinen and AHL guys

craziest thing to me is that Coyle and Zacha actually surpassed Bergeron and Krejci's point totals from last year. i know there's a lot more to a players impact than just points, but in that regard, they succeeded in replacing them.

As Steve pointed out while the Leafs haven't beaten the Bruins since 1959, they did win 4 cups up to 1967 though. So who knows maybe if the Leafs can beat the Bruins they can also get a second monkey off their backs and win the Cup too.

I started watching hockey the week after Sittler scored his 10 point game, so I obviously suffered through a great part of the Ballard years, but at least those teams could win an odd playoff series. Toronto has one playoff series win since the 2004 lock out season. I want to feel at least the excitement I felt during the Gilmour era or the Sundin era where they at least looked like they might have a chance at hoisting the Cup. I would have included the Sittler years but lets face it no one was really going to challenge Les Habs but we did beat the Isles so that was something.
Dangle, why you haven't been picked up by TSN or ESPN is beyond me. You're the most entertaining person on any media platform. I'm a dyed in the wool Bruins fan, and I appreciate you.

Move Marner to D, now you match up fine. Erik Karlsson has won a Norris and carried the Sens to a conference final. Is Marner really worse defensively than Karlsson? If the answer is no (it's no), then he should play D, now you have a right hander, everyone on that side moves down, you have a spot for Jarnkrok and Robertson. If it works, move him to D full time, makes that much salary in 4 guys more stomachable if one of them is an elite right handed D.

I... don't hate this. In fact I wish it was tried more in the regular season. But we saw plenty of glimpses so I'd be comfortable with it even in the playoffs, especially if we get off to a bad defensive start

I don't know what to do with this information, but I think it's interesting. The leafs finished the season with a 46-26-10 record. We went 11-12-3 against Atlantic teams, 11-8-5 against Metropolitan teams, 12-2-2 against central teams, and 12-4-0 against Pacific teams. That means the leafs went 22-20-8 against Eastern Teams and 24-6-2 against Western teams.
I think the crazy thing is that we were convinced we were gonna be screwed without Bergeron or Krejci
Bergeron and Krejci points last year: 114
Zacha and Coyle points this year: 119

Losing to Bergeron sounds respectable.
Losing to Zacha, doesn't have the same appeal. There will be no understanding and forgiveness. It will be Sheldon Keefe's job and possibly Brendan Shannahan's.

@@wandregisel6385 In terms of building the culture, absolutely. The value 46 and 37 brought is immeasurable. However, in terms of strictly on-ice production, keeping pace with them in points and two-way play is exactly what we need. It's next-man-up mentality. I mean, for fuck's sake, a guy we got on a flyer for 2.2 to be on the 3rd line wing got forced to the center because Poitras got hurt and kept pace with Bertuzzi the entire season.
The culture Bergie and Krecho brought is vital to the team's success. The culture did not die with their careers.

As a Capitals fan, we couldn't win the cup until we slayed our nemesis, the Penguins. It's probably the same way for the Leafs - they won't win the cup until they slay their nemesis, the Bruins.

While they're huge and great at beating people up, they'll also likely get worn down in the process. That said, very few teams have the luxury of planning for the second round before the playoffs start, and frankly Boston isn't in a position to be doing so this year.

One little misconception I’ve heard a ton this year… “the leafs had Bergeron and Krejci last year” correct and Bergeron was awesome, Krejci struggled for big chunks of last year…Coyle and Zacha have both played better this season than Krejci was last year…losing Bergeron sucks and he’s irreplaceable but idk how much worse their C core as a whole got truly…
I feel like this year for anyone except NYI and WSH would be a big disappointment to leave in the 1st round. It´s a really exciting session!

Random thoughts…Great matchups in the Atlantic. In addition to Goalies, B’s D is clearly better. LFR and HockeyPsychology are the two best NHL channels. B’s fan from CT, Toronto is in my top 3 cities I’ve visited along with Sydney and Seattle. Would like to see a Canadian team in the Cup finals.
