Hey, thanks for the Video. How likely are the plastic „noses“ to break when taking off the bottom lid? How high is the risk of opening and closing the lid and then not being able to snap the bottom lid back on, because it doesn’t snap back in? I had this problem with a previous laptop... Thanks a lot!
i dont think its too much of an issue, just need a bit more force to click it back in place

Hello sir. I have dell g3 3590 but only have 4gb ram only using 1 slot or 1 channel. can i put additional 16gb of ram (4+16) without losing the dual channel performance? Total of 20gb?
No you need evenly matched ram sizes to get dual channel to work

unless you are requiring the 24GB of ram for tasks
i would go with keeping the dual channel preformance

you should have two slots to have a Max of around 32GB

I'm having trouble with the download speed, is there any wifi cards that might help? On a desktop pc I get upt to 60 MB/s download speed and on the laptop I've never gotten a higher speed than 10MB/s with the same internet through cable or wifi, doesn't matter which one I chose

These can run up to 100c from the factory
Try undervolting your laptop. I have the same model I am having temps of 50-60c

first use CPUZ to find out how much you currently have in there and in what configuration
Example: Single stick of 8GB
8GB DDR4 Sodimm 2666mhz would be fine

You don't have to do a thing once it's physically installed

Aslong as they are loose and wobbling, they don't need to fully removed

It's not a worry for me, IV worked on electronics for over 10 years and no device has been killed by static electricity

noob here, why need to disconnect the battery before changing the ram?
When dealing with electronics, it's always best to disconnect the battery, when connecting or removing parts
Can you put faster ram than 2666 into it? Some websites say I can 3200 into my G3 3579
You can but the Intel chip doesn't support 3200mhz so it won't utilise the full 3200mhz

Which one would you recomend me, the Dell g3 i5 or the acer nitro 5 i5, i Will use them for university and to play some games
i dont like acer but if it has a battery battery life then the G3, i would go with it

The g3 is superior after having both the quality of the g3 feels much better, higher quality parts used as well

thank you for making this video, it helps a lot, but I am still confused about what type of ram this laptop uses... it says to use DIMM DDR4 but this ram clearly doesn´t look like DIMM since its much shorter, it´s SO-DIMM type ram isn´t it?

Disconnect battery, reinstall original ram, with the battery still disconnected plug in power cable and press the power button and wait about 5min
What bloatware should I delete for better space?
This laptop practically has no bloatware
Dell manual says total RAM is limited to 16gb, do you know if it's possible to install 32gb?

Are you referring to a 2.5" drive?

I think you will need to buy two but that depends on the laptop specs. It should be noted if laptop has 2x4 gb or 1x8 gb.

@@mickhy222 hey man, you need to undervolt your processor, basically what this does is to low the ammout of excessive voltage that your notebook draw, it lowers the temperature and the performance is the same, there are a lot of tutorials on youtube about that, i did this to mine (the same, g3 2019) and i dont worry anymore about temperature

The CPU supports up to 128gb, so I think 64 would be fine

You can but then you lose dual channel performance (5 to 15% in games)
So unless you know you system requires up to 24gb of ram I would recommend against having 8+16

It's a BIOS related issue possibly, go into your BIOS and turn on intel XMP (Extreme memory profile)

dont do what he did in the beginning, just unscrew all the screws and you will be able to open it up much easier

Hi Ricks Tech when I tried to upgrade to 16gb with 2 * 8gb Micron 8gb 2666mhz my dell g3 would give an invalid memory installed error? Is there any circumstance that this device wouldn't be compatible with any brands?
That is an extremely odd error to get, considering I'm guessing it's booting to actually tell you that
@@rickstechrepairs it didn't actually boot, i did check the blink codes with 2 amber blink and 5 white blink. That's how I identified it, but i didn't know what causing it to get the error where in fact i got the same frequency and the same brand. Maybe there's something with compatibility?
@@rickstechrepairs i have tried to troubleshoot and switch RAM in order to determine what stick causes the error, and both stick actually causing the error. and i did tried to insert the Micron 8gb 2666mhz RAM to other laptop and it surprisingly worked.

On my g3 I swapped a 4 comb for a 16 ddr4 2666 comb, leaving 20 gigas of ram
plenty of ram but goodbye dual channel preformance
the dual channel has gone bro. You will only enjoy it before 8gb of consume, after that you will work on single channel
