{Proverbs 4:23-24} “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.” The above Scripture shows us that all of our actions ultimately proceed from “the heart” (AKA the inner core of who we are; the seat of our mind, will, and emotions). The concept of “guarding your heart” connects to the importance of self-awareness (i.e. examining the connection between your innermost thoughts/emotions and the outward actions/words that follow).
