PRE SPAWN GREEN BAY WALLEYES (Casting in shallow water)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- Roger and I are headed back out to Green Bay to chase down some pre spawn walleyes out of Oconto. We struggled early in the day, but we finally figured it out towards the end of the day, and put a whooping on over 20 nice walleyes. Hair jigs did the damage of course.
I wanted to say thank you to all my subscribers, for helping me reach 2,000 subs, so I am going to be doing another giveaway. This time I am giving away 10 free hair jigs, and a custom made plano box to store them in.

Utah walleye addicted here. Enjoy your videos, always look forward watching. 31" 12.18lbs on a bandit, Columbia River.
26.5" Fox River walleye. Caught it on a jig and minnow. Enjoying your videos. Good to see all sides of filming (outtakes and screw ups), not just the glittery fish catching. Keeps it more real in my opinion!
That's what I'm trying to do for sure. It's not just about catching fish sometimes.
Sweet looking hair jigs! Seems like hair jigs are becoming more and more of a staple for the bay in the spring time. My biggest is a 29 1/2” from Oconto last spring on you guessed it… Black and purple hair jig bought from North Shore!
Nice, I like that shop. 32 inches, rapala, probably trolling before I knew better
You and Rodger put on a great show. We can't wait to get up on the bay, we've only been there one time and your show gets us jacked up for our trip. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! Hopefully you hammer them like Roger when you get up here.
Love the no troll life! Biggest walleye was 28” ice fishing in Sturgeon Bay on an emerald shiner and jig. Thanks for the educational vids! Keep them coming.
Always epic. Way to put in the work. At least the plug was in!! The channel keeps getting better!
Thanks! I have definitely forgotten the plug before..... Lol
Awesome fishing videos very helpful. Really enjoy watching them.
Nice video! Appreciate you keeping it real! We've all left the tie downs on before. (although usually when hungover from the night before 🤣). Way to stick with the program. You guys out did me on Monday. I gave up around 1PM. I guess I missed the bite window. Biggest walleye...11.5lbs out of Oconto....getting jiggy with hair!
Welcome to the single strap holding the boat on the trailer club!! Been there and done that too.😆 Great video, 28.5 inch 8 lber Lake Erie, trolling (Sorry) a crawler harness.
Thanks for the welcome. It's a prestigious club!
Another missing toenail beaver huh... you'll get him! Catch ya on the next one sir
301/4 inch eye on a floating Rapala. Caught at Depere 25 years ago. Great idea with the slots in the foam for the hair jigs! Keep the videos coming!
New subscriber here. Enjoying catching up on the vids. 27 1/4" on jig and crawler at lake Carl Blackwell.
Those jigs look awesome! Good work!! Biggest eye for me is a 27 1/4” fishing out of my kayak in NE South Dakota on a small prairie slough using a white fluke with 1/4 oz jig head!
31.5” on Little Bay De Noc on a rippin rap. I like seeing how things are going up on the bay, keep up the good fishing.
To start, thanks for showing the boat launch portion of the day. I forgot to undo the straps in the back one day also and don’t think that will ever happen again. Nice to know I’m not the only one. 😜 29 1/2 Lake Erie walleye on a red and white bladed crawler harness. Thanks for another great video. I usually learn something when I watch them.
Got to keep it reel 🎣
I knew what you did right away. I forgot to unstrap my boat last year... 😂 . My largest walleye was 30 1/2" caught on Green Bay with a jig and plastic.
I was confused because I have never done that before. Half the trailer was floating, and the other half was sinking. I was so confused! Lol
30.5", Oconto River, Walley Assassin Turbo shad. Great video and information! Paul's shop is awesome. He has put so much time and effort into it. I'm sure you remember when he first bought it and it was nothing compared to what it is now. Thanks for pimping his place in your vids.
I remember the old days when Paul barely had anything in there. It's grown so much, and we need to keep him around. It's the least I can do to help a friend!
@@Aaron_mik_fishing He's a great dude and always willing to help with lure selection/tips/etc. I'll be in there this weekend to stock up! Tight lines.
Enjoyed the video, Aaron. It sure seems like Roger " The Hammer" has gotten more comfortable in front of the camera. Once you guys found them, you did pretty well. My biggest walleye is only 27" caught out on green bay on a flicker minnow. Don't hate me because I troll, LOL. I also enjoy casting for them, especially hair jigs. Keep the videos comin!
I don't hate trollers, I just feel sorry for them. 🤣.
@@Aaron_mik_fishing I feel the same way, LOL!!!!

I love how you left the part of the video with the strap still on the boat. I've done shit like that. It's nice to know I'm not alone.
I like to keep it real. We all make mistakes.
Hey man I looked for those hair jigs after I first saw your videos! lol! My biggest walleye is 27 3/4 ice fishing on lake Winnipeg last year off balsam bay and it was on a glow pink 1/4 jigging spoon! (The orange ones and rippin raps are working best for me this year though)
I like the boat launch blooper, I know someone who has done that before lol. 28 with jig and minnow on the Fox.
There's a first time for everything!
You guys have days just like my buddy and I. Love watching the videos and always trying to learn something even though we are several hundred miles apart. Biggest so far was a 30.5" out of the Cumberland river in Ky. That new rod has me interested also.Tight lines

Scheduled to visit first time and fish Oconto WI Green Bay March 24th - 26th. Trying for a Personal best on Green Bay. Hope weather and timing is good. Because of your videos I started making my own hair jigs. Don’t look as pretty as yours but plan to give em a shot later this month. Keep up the videos. Keeps me excited for my visit to Green Bay later this month.. Best regards.
Thanks. The fish don't mind if the jigs aren't pretty. The first jigs I tied, looked pretty rough, but I still caught fish! Maybe I'll see you out on the bay this month.
Enjoy the videos man, keep making em! 29.5", Oconto River, Jig and Plastic..yet to smack a 30" and join the club. Hoping this year is the year!

Hey Aaron, another quality video you put out. My biggest is 27” caught in the Oconto River, right down from the launch you were at and right past the little point that comes out before you hit the mouth. Me and my buddy both caught our PB’s that day, mine 27” and his 28” and what do you know both came on purple hair jigs!!! We actually hammered them in that spot for about two hours while boat after boat after boat drove right over our jigs and headed out into the bay. It was awesome. My buddy actually caught a 14 1/2” perch in that spot that same day. I’d love a few of your jigs and that box is awesome. Thanks and keep up the good work, I’m learning from ya!!!
30.5 inches. Fox River. Firetiger rip n rap. Love hair jigs! Keep the killer content coming!

@@Aaron_mik_fishing 100%, we caught a few with hair last year. Have you ever attached a small silver willow blade to your stinger hook for added flash?
I have not tried any blades on the stinger hooks, but we have some like that, that we may try later this year.
Another awesome clip!!

Hair jigs getting the job done for sure. Thanks for the info
No problem 👍
I love you videos my biggest walleye was a 26 on a purple and black custom ripen rap out of the fox river in depere
As always Aaron, great video. Very informative. I love the bend in that rod when you set the hook. Is it graphite or fiberglass? My largest walleye came out of The Maumee River weighing in at 13 lbs and 2 Oz. It was caught in April using a Jig under a float. The gentleman next to me about "Stroked" out when I released it. Keep the videos coming. Hopefully in the future I may acquire a live scope. Just out of my budget now.
I am using a graphite rod. It is a lot stiffer, and has a better backbone for the style of fishing I do.
@@Aaron_mik_fishingDo you worry about rod breakage during cold weather? Like you I live in Michigan and have cold weather for long periods of time. I have learned in my many years here that sometimes fiberglass is a little more forgiving in harsh weather....Like steelhead time, as winter eases its grip, I turn more towards Graphite. I learned lessons by breaking very expensive Graphite steelhead rods in the cold. I like that you cover a broad spectrum of fishing styles and go into depth. I would consider myself an above average fisherman overall. But, I don't know all. Just willing to learn more techniques to become a better fisherman in the future. Thanks for all you do to educate others on how to be more successful......Tight lines.
Can't say I've ever worried about rods in cold temperatures. I try not to fish if it's below 30 degrees, just because I'm a wuss. But I've never broken a rod.
Love your content would love to step-up my hair jig game n give you feedback! Tight lines to you sir!
Biggest walleye was 301\2 10.8lbs on a moonshine minnow size 2.5, Dominator. Bring on those hair flys!
I cannot break that mythical 30" mark. I have 29.75" on the rainy river, Mississippi, Missouri and Green Bay! Maybe this year!
Would love to try some of your jigs. My biggest Walleye was a 30 1/4", caught south of Oconto in 23 FOW on a swim jig.
I love your show. Can we pick something close to your jigs at Noth Shore bait?
Northshore just got a bunch of new hair jigs in. They have a lot to choose from, just not tungsten. There is black and purple there though.
@@Aaron_mik_fishing Thanks again. That sounded like Austin from Blue Ribbon. He guided me two times in the Madison area. Great guy.
That is who was fishing by us! Nice guy.

I once forgot to put the plug in my boat and about sunk it on the dam trailer, yes alcohol was involved and more alcohol involved ppl to help pull my boat and truck out of the sand. Good times haha
I forgot the plug on my bass boat back in the day, didn't realize it until the floor of the boat starting taking water. Had to pull boat out of water again to drain it. Lol
