I just discovered Victoria MacKenzie-Childs on her UA-cam channel and Patreon. She and Richard are the true creators and spark of original genius that have made so many treasures exist in our world. Although the corporations are solely reaping the benefits, Victoria and Richard continue to ripple through the world with their unique creativity and spirit. Thank you for your beautiful video. 💚💚💚
Thanks for stopping by.
I've always loved McKenzie Childs creations. They remind me of Alice In Wonderland. Whimsical, but just stunning and somehow elegant all at the same time.
totally agree ! And the work they put into their creations is amazing. They are very creative and patient folks.
What a great travel piece here. The drone footage was the icing on the cake.
Drone shots do seem to add a bit of pizzazz to the videos. Thanks for your comments !
Those FISH CHAIRS!! Wow! Wow! Wow!
True ART! One of a kinds pieces all made in America by hand!
Yes they are!
I've seen different pieces made n different countries now
@@janettamarsh8247 I think they have always outsourced some items, but the "real Stuff" is still made there.
Thank you Rick, I enjoyed the video tour. It gave me a lot of DIY ideas for redecorating and revitalizing my outdoor furniture and old ceramic pots that I can use as planters. I like whimsical and fun, although I think I'd prefer them on the outside of my home, LOL . . . hugs for the boys.
Just get some durable enamal and start painting !! Bright colora and crazy patterns... You could start your own designs !! :-) LOL
Truly amazing! Such beautiful handmade things. Thank you for sharing this video.
Thanks for watching!
TYVM for the wonderful tour! 😘❤️🥰🤩
Glad to have done it. Its a tour I always wanted to do before. Glad people are enjoying it !
I grew up near here in King Ferry. My mom and I used to visit soon after they started remodeling the house and barns. Vickie is one of the most creative and joyful people in the world. They were just as shocked as anyone to find that people would buy so many of their creations and share in that whimsical world. I have several pieces which I got at the farm before everything became so expensive.
It is pretty wild how something like this gets started and progresses. I've been to the barn sale, and it is a circus ! So many people ! Thanks for the comment and stopping by !!
She has a UA-cam channel- Victoria McKenzie-Childs. Check it out!
I realize it’s very expensive that’s why I’ll never own a piece because I cannot afford it. But I will say if some of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen and I do love it. It’s just a joy to look at.
Its like traveling through an Alice in Wonderland Museum, except everything is for sale!
Beautiful home and especially the grounds. Unique art pieces. Little pricey for me, lol. Thanks for taking us along. 👍
I had heard of the "Barn Sale" for years. I always thought this was some ancient manufacturer, but its actually relatively new. 1985. But she was saying that originally everything was hand made in the "Barn". But so many have retired and they can't kind skilled people, so they are farming it out to other furniture makers and factories to follow their designs.
Going NoWhereFast. Interesting. 👍
Enjoyed this so much, I love McKenzie Childs!
You are not Alone! (Which is how they get those super prices!)..LOL
Thx for sharing 😊 now I don't have to rush off to the physical grounds! My eye gate has taken in so much beauty 😍
Thanks for the comment
WOW this is fantastic. Love these designs
Keep your eye out for the barn sale.. they are great prices !
Thank you for sharing this tour!
ITs a very interesting place ! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
I absolutely LOVE their pieces of artwork.. I love to refurbish my stuff using some of these techniques its so fun & happy.
There aren't many places like them. Its a treat ! Thanks for the comment !
I really enjoyed this! Thank you!
Thanks for Stopping by my Channel... Hope to see you again soon !
beautiful furniture!
It is very artistic, thats for sure. But after raising 2 boys and 2 dogs, none of it would have survived in my house !! LOL
It all looks a bit Willy Wonker's Chocolate Factory to me. Bravo for actually documenting the tour Rick :-)
I agree with that. No sure if you can hear the others on the tour, but they were swooning and saying how they needed to get this and that. Personally, it will never be in my house !! LOL
While I love Mackenzie Childs .. everything it's way to expensive. Thank goodness it's not to hard to take the inspiration and make your own inspired piece.
Absolutely, its all easily reproducible. So its good the make it and there is a catalog, but let the rich buy it and we canjust copy it for ourselves !! LOL
Very expensive, I'm glad I can paint just like this..I painted my own MC inspiration table, and a small tray..And I made a few MC inspiration tassels as well. They came out great.
I have always been a mary Engelbreit fan, and just now discovered Mackenzie Childs and i absolutely love everything! But wayyyy out of my $$$ but sure is fun to look at. :)
You have to get to the barn sale.
Victoria McKenzie-Childs has a UA-cam channel - it’s charming. They are still creating- now on a ferry.
Her videos on UA-cam are excellent. Not to be missed. She is very intelligent.
Just took a tour of the house. They have changed some of the decorating. It is simply stunning. I thought I died and went to heaven. The detail is exquisite. Hand painted craftmanship in every room. And the tour is free. I highly recommend seeing this truly incredible work of art.
It really something that is from another time, when craftmanship was a reflection of the worker and carried a lot of pride. It just too bad its so expensive ! Thanks for the comment and stopping by !
I can barely breathe every time I walk in their doors. Some people are good at painting and decorating but I defy anyone to fool me with a “repro”.
Love it! TfS!
Thanks for stopping by !
Beautiful.. when I hit the lottery I'm stocking up!!!
Thanks, that’ll work. lol
That place is crazy. Thinking of redecorating the Aliner? The Boys deserve it!
Ha Ha Ha.. I would triple the value of the Aliner with just 2 pieces !! I really would like that lamp that looks like a guy sitting in a chair though !! It would be impressive to have that sitting next to the picnic table !! LOL
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure! Thanks for Watching!
oooooooooooo my wonderfullllllllllllllllll.........................!!!
true
I really enjoy this fad of checks, diamonds, etc adding a touch of whimsy to decor (in moderation). This is the very thing that my deceased beloved mother in law would have enjoyed and would have gone nuts over it but people, this is a fad that has gone rabid.....good grief! If anyone buys these VERY EXPENSIVE junky furniture, they have lost their mind. Rein it in !
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment !
How did you get the sky views of the farm and lake? Where did your dogs stay while you toured?
I flew a drone around the farm for about an hour. The Owner told me it would be alright as long as I stayed away from the horses. And I used a clip from Google Earth
My sister in law used to sew pillow tops for them. I think she got about $7 for each top. When they finished them off, the pillows were sold for over $100.
They are a money making company ! I'll though your SIL could produce 4-6 of those pillow tops in an hour !! I've seen those folks work, and they make pretty good money if they work fast and without mistakes. It really discourages younger newer employees though. Thanks for the comment !!
Going NoWhereFastshe did them at home.
Nice !
Wowwwww👍👌😍😍😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏
I work there
How neat!! What do you do? Are you an artisin by any chance?
Going NoWhereFast I. A m the domestic freight coordinator. I ship stuff all day long.
It is an awesome place to work, and the barn sale is so much fun.
OH, thats cool. It must be a nice place to work, everyone I met while walking around and just hanging out was very nice a pleasant. And everything seems very up beat. I'm sure a job is a job, but its always nice to be somewhere nice for that job !! Thanks for the reply !
While the prices are steep, they are hand made. These are heirlooms for family members who can’t wait for you to kick the bucket so it can be theirs.
LOL, I bet that's true!! Thanks for the comment !
How do I prevent my kettle from rusting on the inside ?
Buy a copper kettle. They never rust
Loved the tour but would have loved to hear the guide the music is to loud since I will never get to go myself I love all their pieces
Ya, I would have loved to include their audio, but they would not give me permission to include their talking points as they want you to come and visit. IF you have enough money, its worth the trip !!
Left you a message on your account channel
Excellent aerial work! Probably going to get killed but the furniture looked hideous more like a fun house or house of horrors. But I'll give a thumbs up for the hard work of the craftsman who created the furniture it takes skill!
Great video well done.
It depends on what scary movies you have seen in your childhood...LOL. It appears to be pretty popular !! Thanks for the comment !!
Where is this? Would love to visit.
It in the finger lakes of NY, Near Auburn, NY
It’s I. Aurora Ny , I’ve been there twice and will return, bought many items , only set back is if you order it takes forever to get ,
The style of furniture is not my taste, but I would still have fun taking a tour of the house.
Yes, the house itself is a mastery of old craftsmanship and style. Thanks for the comment !
What'ja buy??
I went for the tour, Didn't buy anything. But they have a big sale where you can buy $1500 stools for just $700. Incredible savings on things that really should cost $100 LOL
I dont get this stuff. It looks like dyi boho .
It definitely appeals to a unique group of people.
Are these items from the real mackenzie childs who started there own business? I think people who design items who are not the real McKenzie childs
The mackenzies went bankrupt in late 1990s or 2000s. They sold off everything. But now they claim they were robbed. The artists at the manufacturing site are still the same artists that have always made the products
You can check out Victoria McKenzie-Childs UA-cam channel-/ she talks about design and inspiration, the history of the family, gives an in-depth tour of the original house. She encourages people to be creative too, using what you find. I never heard of the company before today- I’m not in the market for luxury housewares myself and I don’t think I’ve ever been in Neumann-Marcus in my life. I found the channel by accident and I loved her humor and positivity.
Didn't the couple sell the business? I heard that all the products are now made in China.
When I did this video it was owned by the Aurora Co. The Original Owners had long ago gone banckrupt, like every other business does, but all the products were made right there outside of Auburn NY, in Aurora.
@@GoingNoWhereFast-It was more than “they went bankrupt”. They were having financial difficulties, having grown fast and not business people but artists. They were conned into signing over the company, the house they were living in(where the showroom is), the farm and the rights to the MacKenzie-Childs name to the owner of the American Doll Company, Pleasant Rowland. She presented herself as a friend that would help them back to solid ground. However, once she had control of the company, she booted them out them out completely. They only discovered they had lost the right to use their last name after receiving a letter from Rowland’s lawyer when they tried selling their pottery again. They can’t use the old designs at all or their last name on any of their art work! And black and white checks are common, not copyrighted at all, but they can’t use them anymore. It’s very sad what happened.
My cat determines my furniture choices. Sofas and recliners must have pillow tops. She doesn't care about the fabrics too much but $7,000 could buy a lot of gourmet cat food.
LOL... Cats are basically happy animals as long as there is a good place to stretch out for a nap. !! Thanks for the comment !!
LoveMtDulcimerMusic lool
@@browncatwithblurredbackgro2461 So True!
Sorry honey you move the camera too fast neighbor appreciate
I agree, it was one of my earlier videos. It might work if you just pause the vide when you want to see something for a little longer. Just click on the screen.
Their work is now farmed out and made in Vietnam
Not true, There are at least a 100 artisans working there. (I was there last week)
Everything is overdone way over the top almost tacky
There are a lot of over the top tacky people in the world!
This furniture isn't worth the money.
Its all about supply and demand. And the demand supports the price. So it goes to show you if nail two things together and paint them, someone will pay the price to buy it !!
Maybe to you!
