Unless these offer some sort of price break vs comparable brands (which I don't think it is given the PRX usual price point), I don't see this as much of a benefit as many racks can be expanded. I still think their sweet spot is the fold away stuff. Seems like for a regular 4 post (1300) they're already higher than a comparable Rogue RML 490 (1100). Since a lot of people see Rogue as overpriced, I don't think this one will resonate with a lot of people.
Totally understand that this is a new market for us (timing is a little rowdy due to steel pricing), but we are putting much of our efforts into new accessories and them being able to be incredibly modular! @@danharbison6203 You respect the response? They didn't address any of the OP's critique's. Man, I love me a good rack review. This is a pretty interesting idea. I have the BOS light commercial rack and regret not getting the brute. The ability to upgrade would be sweet. Solid review
Currently designing my own squat stand using REP parts and my design is actually near identical to this but with an actual tube cross member at the bottom. All in with J-cups it's $685 plus free shipping and hopefully will be more stable.
Purchased my White TITAN Series Power rack with some attachments, and spent $1900 free shipping. Value beats Rogue and REP. Titan Fitness is the real value.
They really blew it. They have to offer enticing discounts for each stage of the upgrade packs. And they need that value added benefit to be CRYSTAL clear in their marketing. Then they have a shot of carving out a niche with this line.
Eleiko offers the same thing with their Prestera line. You can start out with the Half rack and grow from there. Of course it's going to be way more expensive....ouch. Got the Prestera half rack. Oak club manufacturing offers a cool rack that can grow and it has wicked cool attachments like the James Hooks and their safety arms. Rogue and Rep fitness seem to offer the best deals with a lot of attachments. One cool rack that I wish I had a chance to check out is the Arsenal Strength rack. They offer both 7 gauge and 11 gauge versions.
As someone who is building his own DIY cable attachments that fit into my fold back rack out of a free side of road find bowflex extreme I'm interested to see how the cables work out. Heres a tip spotter arms on side of rack use the holes for pully attachments and you get an adjustable chest fly. Just send your HR department my way for more excellent ideas. Lol.
This is an execution issue on an otherwise good idea. An expandable rack system makes sense for a lot of folks, but I almost wonder if it'd be better to sell them piece by piece with "suggested" configurations. Bonus if they used specs that allowed for interoperability with competitors' racks. If I could buy a PRX upright to expand my Rogue rack? Now we're talking. It would dramatically expand the market for their expansion components beyond customers who have bought into their "system" they have here. For the side-to-side wobble, I wonder if they could make some corner braces that would bolt in and have a hole for band pegs, etc so you could also use them for an expanded rack in the future.
Thank you for the insight! We do recommend bolting all of the racks to the floor or to a platform which would also increase rigidity. We definitely have a lot of things coming with this line!
couldn't you basically do this with REP? They sell all the Components on their site individually, you'd just need to buy 2 sets of the feet the first time.
Came here to say this as well. You could 100% do this with most of REP's racks. I guess this company is banking on getting customers just because they point this feature out where REP doesnt make a big deal of it.
