They only had to drop the dead weight to do it. Hooky, anchoring them to Joy Division too much and a string of mediocre albums with him there. New fire new (old) synth music.
Plastic is one of the best songs from New Order, since Republic album. Love their tracks with backing vocals. The line bass reminds me of Donna Summer's "I feel love".
Best album they’ve done since Technique. So good I bought it twice, once on CD for the car on vinyl to hang on the wall along side True Faith, Substance embossed and die cut Blue Monday
One last breath of good music in a time of canned divas. Thank you Gillian Gilbert, Stephen and Barney. Real bless would be if they group back again some day with Hooky.
+Chris Guevara Yup. There is definitely an I Feel Love influence. One of the synth lines also reminds me of the PSB b-side "Some Speculation"; actually, the whole track reminds me of a more upbeat version of it.
+agun wiriadisasra Yes this would have fit nicely on the PSB last album Electric. Which is fitting since the album prior to that had a track called "Leaving" which was very New Orderish!
+agun wiriadisasra I always felt Pet Shop Boys' influence was the worst thing ever, ever, to impinge on New Order.... bad move Barney. Far too mannered, stylised, snappy, hate Neil Tennant's voice and it's effect on Barney's.... they were so, so much better in the early '80s when they were completely unique and not infiltrated by lesser bands who were influenced by them in the first place. Also the Giorgio Moroder overtness is a terrible move as well.... They would never have done that in the beginning, this self-reflexively and nostalgically or something... it's like they've gone out of themselves and forgotten that THEY were pioneers and the very PURVEYORS of the music and culture we loved back then, so much so that now they've been bringing back elements of it in a trite and obvious manner like some kind of pastiche...I don't get it. New Order have forgotten themselves!
+Barry Grayshon Wow, I was just about type this in when I saw your comment; exactly the background beat from Donna Summer! Album is out check the official UA-cam page.
Had my first New Order hit in 1980 when I was 9, been an addict ever since, I dream base lines like this, love the synth over ride, thanks Gillian, you’re awesome
Cool track to bring New Order back....it's what I expect and it's doing it for me....I'm just glad they're still doing what they do best!! Nice to have Gillian back :o)
@Big Valerie If you give it more than one opportunity you realize that it is a very good album of songs. At first it was difficult for me to enter it, it seemed to me that they did not offer anything new. But over time I loved it. It sounds more pop and not so played at the level of electronic experimentation. The same thing happened with the Republic of 1993.
I've been a fan of New Order since they formed, and absolutely love this. Great production, great song. The short section starting 0:45 sounds quite like Tangerine Dream! I like the way there's always something going on in the production, it never stands still too long, always evolving. Production-wise, they've thrown the kitchen sink at it, and it works.
@@The_Aging_Millennial Thank you so much for your message! As you know Bernard Sumners and Neil Tennant have been friends for a long time. They are certainly standalone artists but they complement each other (Electronic). I think that Plastic still shows what New Order are capable of, a sheer masterpiece! Giorgio 🙂
a captivating song there's something hypnotic about that synth sound and the lyrics like a spiral in your mind's eye 6:05 the way the sound changes, it's like you're slowly waking up from a dream or a trance.

New Order back at their best!! lots of old flavours in this album, even underlying bass tones from Joy Division days.. Definitely up there with Technique and Movement... This track has a taste of Donna Summers - I feel Love :)
I love that Peter Hook bass!!!! This sounds like a new classic from the band that is (and always was) way ahead of their time. Fun fact: The first CD I ever bought was New Order Substance and the production on that album sounds like it could have been made today! They never fail to amaze or surprise.....awesome!
Both of their voices were blended together. They used her voice as a "texture", so the main vocal by Dawn is more pronounced. Both the members of New Order and Elly Jackson have talked about this being the arrangement. This is why there is no "featuring" credits (since the vocals were used more as an instrumental element).
Li Syaoran Me too Li, been a fan since 'Love will tear us apart' blew my mind, something new in this 'retro' world is always appreciated here, keep smiling Li it is really good for you.

New order je je jedan svjetski brand u samom vrhu alternativne pop rok glazbe kao ovaj hit
This definitely has Gorgio Moroder vibes. Which is like saying Jaws was a somewhat popular film.
This is New Order at their pinnacle.
Or more accurately Bernard Sumner at his pinnacle ;o)
@@deletebilderberg was this album mostly Bernard’s? I didn’t know that
When they play pet shop boys 😊
This is nothing short of impeccable.

One last?
Music Complete surely is a promising album. Restless is more into "old school New Order" while Plastic is so Pet Shop Boys. Love them both.
Yes, Pet Shop Boys with a touch of, Giorgio Moroder .
+agun wiriadisasra Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder.

This song and Academic were the absolute bomb; those two were perfect singles material so naturally they weren't.
It's Official ... You're FANTASTIC!!!!

Amazing music. Amazing band. I really love this music. Wonderful album.
They still alive, amazing song.
They were just fighting amongst themselves for a while.
used to be a massive new order fan but they will never be new order without hooky😢,he was a integral part of the band and sound

Best track on the album..... play it really LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A truly masterpiece
Back where they should be! Classic New Order!
Old New Order or New Old Order?
bull shit
I prefer how they sounded up to technique, but this album is a whole better than "waiting for the sirens to call."
@@fsol83 technique is probably my second favorite.
I can hear a lot of Moroder in this track! and it's superb!
