- A quick trip to Titanite Hill, Tory Hill (Gibson Occurrence) to rockhound in the rain while following some fissures. I can see in this video that I left behind a really gemmy specimen at 6:37.

I have only just begun Rockhounding just over a year ago , There was never any time for me to get out there .with working and raising 7 sons , my time has always been limited. now that they have grown up and for the most part moved out of the house , I now have time to add Rockhounding to my list of things that I have an interest and passion for . I have never found Apitite or Feldspar before and I got quite excited when I seen the green Apitite here in your video . I can hardly wait for this summer so I can get out there and prospect . Once again , nice video .
The drenching rains have washed a quantity of rock for this video. It was easy pickings. Good luck with your rockhounding. After raising 7 kids, you deserve some downtime.
I love your dog! she is sweet and adorable! She is a great rock hound!
As I type this "thanks", she is sitting with me and her head on my foot. ;-)
The best Chanel.. Brazil love you work 😊😊😊
This will be my 2nd "must do" location for my June trip. Great video....I enjoy the chance to look over your shoulder while you prospect.
I guess Im pretty randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to watch newly released series online ?
@Aiden William I use Flixzone. You can find it on google :)
Awesome! Good hunt and video! Some nice specimens that you found! The Apatite is a beautiful colour! Thanks for sharing.
GL&HH, Arty :-)
Thanks Arty. Things in Canada are starting to warm up, so I will be getting out more in the near future. Always nice to have my friend from NZ along...
Super cool place i like the calcite with the green appetite in them, an Daisy.
I have learned quite a bit from you.
Thank you very much for posting and sharing your knowledge.
Good luck out there MEMINER & Daisy.
Wow. Thanks so much for the kind words.
Cada día más inprecionado con el lugar felicitaciones 🎉 saludos desde Ecuador 🇪🇨
I would have never figured that out, early spring plant cool. Im ready to go ham on some rock.
I just love it there! I’m going to go and camp out there for a week and dig everyday this summer. Cannot wait!
Bring Troy for a day. Big boy like that should be like having an excavator. ;-)

What crystals did you make into marbles ? Can you make the appetite into marbles and is it hard to put a hole in one ... o want to put some on leather and ware it ,,,,right now I’m going through this crap where I sit here and think and think till it makes my upset then I want to go the range and blow off about a hundred rounds of 40cal . At 165 gr loads . Watch the flames pop out the compensators holes in the end .. comp C. Well I guess I vented a bit sorry ,, I will go now sorry....
@@blackdog.6398 I was wasting 45/70 rounds out of my Henry Lever into targets yesterday. Good clean fun, but expensive. $57 CDN/box plus tax.
I used Banded Iron in my video to make beads. Not the best rock to use, because they tend to split between the jasper and hematite. I suspect it would be difficult to use the bead tool with apatite, as most of the crystals will tend to crumble. If you are drilling a crystal, try doing it with the stone in water, so it doesn't heat up. I am not an expert at any of this and continue to learn.
That’s SHARP ,! LOL. SAVE THAT BRASS ,,,,LOL GOOD NIGHT ,,, BLESSINGS... THANK YOU 🙏
Way to much fun 😎👍
Thanks for dropping by. ;-)
oh man... now my blood is boiling to get up there this weekend. I'm going to skip my addiction to titanite hill and do Schicklers if things go my way. It is really hard for me to tear myself away from Titanite hill with such a good possibility of finding wicked stuff. For now I have some nice specimens. Off to find some fluorite and red fluorapatite. I'll have to re-watch your videos and find those maple tree veins.
Good luck with it. I was unable to head up today, as I am not feeling well.
tess99991 I made it out to Schicklers after all. I got as deep as I could into that fissure at the very end that you had mentioned last year. Thanks for that. I got some nice stuff and some good video. I'm a slim guy but my bones wouldn't let me get any deeper lol. I'll have a video up later this week.
Nice. I guess you went on Saturday? I drove by on Sunday afternoon and there were no cars in the parking lot. I did not go into the site because I was unable to sign in (I was too late and office was closed). I look forward to your video.
How do I get to Titanite Hill.. I've been to the Sheckler mine in Wilberforce with the family a couple of times now and We feel like venturing to a different location and have a look around
In Tory Hill, drive up Gibson Rd. It is maintained along the lake and then becomes a rough road that you can still drive on. So park and walk ... or drive in (I have seen cars, but have never had a problem with my truck). About 1 KM in on the unmaintained road, you will see a place on the left where there is room for one car to park. Across from that is a couple of paths (on your right). You will see lots of holes dug on the side of the hill. Probably others will be in there, so it will be obvious where to go. I have another video which shows that the entrance to the hill looks like.
A lot of black. Is that Obsidian? Great place. The serenity is awesome!
No. The black minerals in that area are mostly titanite and fluororichterite (amphibole).
@@meMiner Ahhh. I figured beins it's a fisher that Obsidian would be around. Your puppy is so cute. Love her personality. Nice way to spend a day.
What is the black stone, found a bunch last time we were there. One had a blueish hew
For this site, usually hornblende or fluoro-richerite.
Can I send u a photo maybe u can tell me what it is
I found a whole lot of the black stuff on a railroad right of way. You didn’t name it. Do you know what it is?
There are a number of black crystals or rocks. I suspect what is in railway beds is different than this stuff.
It certainly looks identical but maybe different. Thanks
Look at those apatite (?)pretty green and blue??? Daisy liked it all! (: Ouu ouu, what's the black stuff?.
In that area, the black is typically richterite, titanite or hornblende. Of course, what you want to find is the titanite.
Yea cool.
Forgive my ignorance of geology, but how are those fissures formed? I'm amazed that under the topsoil you can find such features. Time for me to read up!
The Calcite veins are naturally etched away by acidity from rotting leaf litter etc.. Add rain to that and over thousands of years it etches the Calcite away leaving crystals in the loose soil or in pockets.
@@CoinandRelicOntario Thank you! Very kind of you to respond. I've ordered a book about rockhounding in my area. Perhaps I'll learn by experience.
You might also check for local rock hounding clubs in your area. They often organize outings in known "hot spots" and sometimes have access to areas off limits to the general public. If you happen to be in the Pacific northwest, I know of some good spots. Happy hounding and good luck! 💎⛰🏕
@@kristenharral4707 Thank you! I live in Idaho.
[looks for the bucket of hot water]
What name from the black stone ?? I am from Jakarta - Indonesia.
I call soft black rock with shapes like that "anthabol".
Mirip onix
Look like onix
Ok, thanks
meMiner - do you sell any of your titanite and apatite?
No. I would have no idea how to put a price on them. I collect for fun.
La gangue est-ce de la calcite.?
Oui, calcite.
Did you go back for it???
Nope. ;-)
Is that where caver461 got stuck?
Yep
What state is this in
Ontario, Canada.
Where is Titanite hill?
Just outside of Tory HIll, Ontario (Canada) on an unmaintained road called Gibson Rd.
You only prospect for rocks in the rain? LOL
yes lol
