Nateland: the podcast where space is measured in Rhode Islands, time is measured in years since NOAA was founded, and locations are determined by proximity to the closest McDonalds. Nate truly is George Washington. Love it.
Finally Anjelah is on here!! I’ve been waiting for this!! I knew she lived in Nashville and that the guys knew her so I was just waiting and hoping that this episode would finally happen.
Nate seemed a bit tongue tied like he was nervous because he was talking to a celebrity 😂😂 It was so sweet, because you could tell he really appreciates and respects her.
I love hearing Nate really dig into the craft and art that is comedy. Having Anjelah come and talk about it with the same enthusiasm is so wonderful to hear. They truly know the “science” behind what they’re doing and it shows!
At the risk of sounding like we live under a rock, my wife and I had never heard of Anjelah and watched her special after seeing her on the show! She's a great example of Nate's preference for comedy and entertainment that's just fun and funny.
Dave Chappelle not being mentioned in the sketch comedy episode is wild. He also could have been mentioned as a comedian who famously gets on stage and riffs for an hour!
I love Anjelah's reaction to Nate as he failed to get Aaron's point about the planning of a buffet... "Have you ever been to a buffet?" LOL. Kind of like, "Hi, I'm earth - have we met?"
I often listen to the Nateland podcast on my shopping day. It works well because I hide my air pods with my hair down and make sure I can still hear what’s going on around me and it makes a task I don’t like more enjoyable. You guys are funny, but it’s typically “make me smile” funny. That works out well because I just look like a smiley, friendly gal. Well after this episode, I started Anjelah’s “Say I Won’t” special. That was a mistake. As I’m walking through Costco, looking at laundry soap, I’m busting out laughing and those around me were full on confused why I was finding all these products so funny. I had to put my hair behind my ears so people could know I’m not crazy, just rudely listening to something through the store. Her bit on how to text the different levels of funny was spot on.
I always heard Anjelah Johnson’s name and new she supported Bates opening for her but never listened to her standup before. I liked her so much on this podcast I’m now watching Nails clips and her full standup special and she’s awesome!
Anjelah’s “unfinished sentence” recommendation for when one cuts in the buffet line is brilliant. When Aaron responds, “just gonna… don’t mind if I do…” all I could think of was “just gonna… somebody stop me…”
Hi Guys! My name is Diana Carrasco & I’m one of your biggest fans!!! So happy you had Anjelah J-R on your show. Nice to see a Latina : ) can’t wait for Nate’s show(s) in San Antonio!!!! I think I’ve been your spokesperson out here telling everyone to go see your show. Love you guys. Take care
This was a fun episode. I've heard Nate and the folks talk about Anj for a while now. Listening to the show always makes me feel like I am with my people. Started to watch on UA-cam now and think this would be a great podcast to have on a VR device. Just to feel like I am sitting in the room, across from big bad breakfast and looking over at Dusty, Nate, and Aaron would be so cool!
I watched Carroll Burnett "live". It was a great show. But my all time favorite was Red Skelton. My family watched him every Sunday night. What a great talent and a sweet, humble man. A true American treasure. BTW, I'm a Boomer (1959).
Please have Anjelah as a guest again. She was so fun to listen to and has a natural chemistry with you guys. Have yall tried printing the comments using the Dyslexie font for Nate?
Kevin Mitchell played for the Cincinnati Reds. Played leftfield and made an over the head-barehanded catch. AMAZING play! LOVE the show fellas! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Aaron for mentioning Amanda Show as a sketch comedy show you enjoyed. My daughters are a little younger than you but they watched Amanda Bynes’ show, too, so I caught some of it. I thought she was a brilliant young comedic talent, and I feel so sorry for how she “took a turn.” Hope she can get her comedy mojo back again some day, she was such a true spark in that laugh-track world of kids’ tv.
I have been watching this episode for hours now. Thank goodness to UA-cam I have gotten to go down so many rabbit holes. Every time you refer to a past performance from Anjelah or other classics from so many comedy greats, I stop and then go and watch. So fun!!!!!
"Somebody stop me!" as in, from The Mask with Jim Carrey? That was my favorite movie when that came out when I was 10. I used to run around saying that too.
I’ve been watching this podcast a long time and haven’t really been a fan of Brian; probably because of his downgrading sarcasm towards Dusty. But today, when he cracked open that wonderful joke (1:33:42), confidently stating he was thee only person cool enough to go to two celebrity birthday parties in the same day, I saw his beautiful comedic spirit. Well done Brian! Sorry I blinded myself toward you. Now you and Dusty are my favs! Stay humble.
I remember being in elementary school when I heard Anjelah’s nail salon joke. That was probably the first time I learned about being a career comedian. Hearing that Nate opened for her as a new comic was unreal. It makes so much sense why I am a fan of both of them. I don’t know if this qualifies as a full circle moment, but I think it might.
As someone in my late 20s I totally agree with all of Aaron's sketch show choices. The Amanda Show was my fav. She's was doing really well too, which is rare for a child star. But then she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and other mental health issues which caused the downward spiral. Wish her the best, she was a really fun actress.
Anjelah is a lovely person!!! I am glad they had her on the podcast. I had no idea she was the one who did the nail salon or bon qui qui. Both are hilarious!
When you guys were pontificating on the appropriate verbal signal to jump in front of the line at a buffet, I assumed the most obvious line would be "Somebody stop me!"
I have been married to my wife Courtney for almost 6 years. Her sister’s roommate does nails for a living, so I have heard this nail salon bit many times and I always thought it was a hilarious inside joke that they came up with. Now today I find out they’ve been quoting a 2006 Anjelah Johnson bit this whole time. My mind is blown and I look forward to listening to more of Anjelah’s material! Now you can officially say you helped her out too by having her on your podcast and introducing her to at least one new fan. Safe to say you can call it even 😂
Oh puh-leeeaaseee look up bon qui qui "king burger". It is a staple to anyone's life. :) We've all had an experience like this. I know I've had an almost identical one at Hardee's.
Great episode! Before watching this Natelade episode I had only really know of Anjelah Johnson as the Taco Cabana girl with a few funny clips I had come across randomly. Now I’ve watched her special plus a few of the old skits yall mentioned and she is hilarious. I hope she comes back to Nateland again.
Need to thank "Basketball" Bates and his help with the 2-3 zone he recommended on his Christmas message to me. Made me laugh just as all of you do. Look forward to every Wednesday when the podcast comes out. My daughter and I love you guys and she now lives in another city but is a great way for us to connect each week sharing laughs you all provide. Thank you!
Of all the topics for the college grad to weigh in on with serious input...buffets. 😅 Had to replay this section of the podcast for my husband after we listened to John Pinette.
I think it’s astounding they can’t tell the difference between Hmmm and Mmmh lol 4 oblivious comedians. A testament to honing the vocal craft and not wasting time texting millennials 😂
Nate is there an exception for jumping in at a buffet , if the person is older and or slower than you, I always feel like it's a nice thing to do, so the person in question doesn't feel pressured to move it along. Love the Pod and hey Bear
Just finding you guys and enjoying it a lot. (I listen at 1.25 speed). Saw an episode from a few years ago where you talked about a very tall opera singer (also the helmet at the Grammys). But the tall opera singer comment reminded me of the perfect reply. "Wow, did you ever play basketball?" "No. Were you ever a jockey?"
0:41:05 In response to Becky Waller's comment, that was Bill Burr who said that. It's terrible advice for most comics because unlike Bill Burr, most comics can't be funny riffing for an hour and a half.
Brian saves the day! I was listening and wondering if Anjelah came up with Kevin Mitchell as the Home Alone character by combining Dennis "The Menace" Mitchell since he was basically a clone of Kevin McCallister. Then I was agonizing over them not mentioning In Living Color after Anjelah had already brought up J-Lo. Brian came through in the clutch though! Thanks for bringing me back to my 80's youth gang, enjoyed it!
For buffet lines if there’s a gap I just go straight to those high cost proteins. At buffets I have a rule that nothing green is allowed on my plate until at least the 3rd time in line. Then maybe some green beans or broccoli that are dripping sauce.
It was funny listening to Nate talk about the comic riffing for that long knowing that it was Bill Burr, and that had he known who it was I'm sure he would've said, "well of course *he* can do it but it takes someone on Bill's level"
dear Nateland me and my sister are constantly debating the Stanley cup trend. I think they are stupid but my sister claims that a good looking cup makes you drink more water. love the podcast and keep up the good work.
In the Sanford mall in the early 2000's, I saw Anjelah & her now husband in a shoe store and I recognized HIM from Group1Crew and not her, so I asked her to take a photo of us. I can't believe it. 🤦🏻♀️
I’ve always compared Nate to Michael Scott and what better proof than when Nate started in with “no matter what..” in episode 179 at the 1:03:21 mark. It reminded me of an episode of the office so I had to look it up. When Micheal is talking to David Wallace starting with “Don’t ever for any reason do anything…” If you keep going Michael starts to say “no matter what, no matter where..” Love it! I think my comparison of the two is on point!
Can't believe when you all were riffing about what to say when skipping people in buffet lines, no one recognized the callback opportunity to say "Somebody Stop Me" Love the podcast, best part of my week.
They shouldve kept that "Tony's Italian!" line in there. That would be hilarious. Random nonsense can be gold. It depends on how the other players react to it. "Italians are very Christmas." wouldve been a funny reaction.
Bon qui qui! Haha Yes please add more to the clean channels because I don't listen to foul mouthed vulgar comedy any more. We need all the funny people on the clean channels!!! ❤ I'm so excited to see her on here, we missed you Dusty.

There should be a Hall of Fame of comedy routines and The Nail Salon would be in there.
It’s amazing because it’s so universal. She’s so fun, I love her and I love her characters.
I thought Arron was going to say buffets were one of America's last intersections
Hahahahahaha😂 You know Aaron loves a last intersection call out 😂😂
For the love of GOD, it's A-A-Ron!! signed, another Aaron. 😆
@@woodnutz78I second this point of contention. Come on folks
😂
*Aaron sorry, didn't mean to put any disrespek on your name
Finally Anjelah is on here!! I’ve been waiting for this!! I knew she lived in Nashville and that the guys knew her so I was just waiting and hoping that this episode would finally happen.
“It’s near that McDonald’s on Broadway, if that helps” was exactly what Nate needed to figure it out. Way to go GPS Bates! 😂
Nate seemed a bit tongue tied like he was nervous because he was talking to a celebrity 😂😂 It was so sweet, because you could tell he really appreciates and respects her.
I can't believe no one mentioned The Muppet Show as sketch comedy growing up....Bongo and Nate, especially! That was the original SNL! 🤣
I love hearing Nate really dig into the craft and art that is comedy. Having Anjelah come and talk about it with the same enthusiasm is so wonderful to hear. They truly know the “science” behind what they’re doing and it shows!
Thanks for featuring a woman! And expressing your appreciation for her role in your career! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
At the risk of sounding like we live under a rock, my wife and I had never heard of Anjelah and watched her special after seeing her on the show! She's a great example of Nate's preference for comedy and entertainment that's just fun and funny.
Have you heard Kathleen Madigan? Good stuff.
“Tony’s Italian!” Is such a good line in the context of winning 100,000 tacos. Props to that guy.
Dave Chappelle not being mentioned in the sketch comedy episode is wild. He also could have been mentioned as a comedian who famously gets on stage and riffs for an hour!
Good morning Nate, Brouhaha and Aaron. Thank you so much for having Anjelah on 😂 She’s so funny and so sweet! God Bless y’all
I love Anjelah's reaction to Nate as he failed to get Aaron's point about the planning of a buffet... "Have you ever been to a buffet?" LOL. Kind of like, "Hi, I'm earth - have we met?"
Anjelah’s interest in all the ad reads was adorable.
“..It can wipe all your info from the internet..”
“WHAAAAA..”

Briar and Dusty are probably the closest friends on the podcast. Hes been on Dusty's several times before Nateland begun.
I’m a guy, and never heard of Angela or the nail salon bit. I paused the podcast to go watch it. HYSTERICAL
She’s a super fun comic, you should watch her full specials that she has on UA-cam, they’re great (and clean, if that matters to you)
