  • "Angry bird" the lovebird free flying at 6 months old.... I only make her look good on film. In real life she barely does this.

    My anxiety could never! The fact she is so calm outdoors and returns to you on command, says amazing things about you as an owner :)

      There is one thing I did question, was the control of where they want their bird to go? At the beginning, the bird landed on their owner's head, and when you have dicepline and control, the bird and the owner understand each other. It doesn't look like that here. They have to train the bird to always land on the hand unless told otherwise. It's more fluid and professional.

    My bird flies around outside as well... but I taught when she was a baby and I was hand-feeding her. I would put her on my finger everyday and just walk to the road and then go back in the house then next morning I would go in the backyard and go back in the house and eventualy when she learnt to fly I would throw her up in the air and she would just fly around in a circle and back on to my finger. Now when we go outside she flies all around but always comes back to me...! When she is not in sight she will call me and I answer with the same sound and this is how she finds me. I love her...!

    The last time my couple of lovebirds went for a flight they never came back. I tried very hard training them every day for a long time, but they were more interested in each other then us. They were very wild and although both bit me many times, the male was much sweeter(and smarter) and his bites were more like warnings, while the female drew blood. To all of you who want to try getting a lovebird as a pet I highly recommend getting only 1. Getting a pair is for experienced owners!

    • @ML-ov7wo
      @ML-ov7wo 2 роки тому

      Not quite true. If you get a "very wild" pair (I assume that means not hand-tame from the beginning) then yes, it will be very very hard to train them. But, you can certainly have a pair of bonded lovebirds who are also very tame with you the owner. The best bet would be to get two separate, hand-fed lovebirds who already are used to humans. Then eventually safely introduce them to each other. It is possible. Even after bonding and mating they will still be very affectionate with you if you spend time with them consistently.

    • @goggleman4935
      @goggleman4935 Рік тому

      I have one trained and another wild. Trained bird hasn't seen one of its kind since it was adopted. Wild kept on trying to befriend trained. Since the trained bird wasn't part of bird society, is the wild bird truly the wild one?

      Yeah, I agree. If you get a good harness, though (Aviator harness $50 bucks but it's not some cheap shit), maybe your bird can fly around again or just sit on your shoulder as you go for a walk. Make sure you train them to feel safe at, around or in the harness. It's just better for your bird's wellbeing, since they are a living being too.

    I used to rescue and hand rear orphaned wild birds. People knew I kept fancy pet pigeons and so if they found babies on the street they would bring them to me. I could not refuse to hand feed and help them. One pigeon was very special, and nearly died from pigeon pox. He got released when better at a temple in the next village.
    He would seek me out when I was outside at the shop, bar, restaurant, friends house or on my bike going to the market. They can see well when they are flying and if he spotted me he would come down to say hello, landing on my head or shoulder. People thought it was funny.
    One day he even brought a wild pigeon mate to my house to show me, like saying, 'look I got a wife'. I was so happy. That was the last day he came to see me or looked for me. I still see him at the temple sometimes years later, but he ignores me now! lol.

      ***** So is letting your cat out at night (or even during daylight). It has a huge chance of getting run over or being attacked by predators. Think before you talk nonsense. It's not because it's a different or tiny animal that it shouldn't get its right to fly free.

      As long as you know what your bird would usually do, it's easier to spot when they are sick. Jamieleigh from BirdTricks used to feed her birds all fruit when they were on tour. But if you feed a bird too much fruit, the acidity and sugar will cause fatty liver disease, the same disease found from all seed diets. (it's fatal) One day, she took the birds out for a fly, and her (galah?) sat in a tree. This behaviour was something the bird wouldn't usually do, so she saw a vet and yeah, her bird had fatty liver disease. Luckily, all symptoms went away once she fed proper veg to them.

    Hi. I handfed and trained her before she could even fly. She was the first and only lovebird I had at the time, so she got more interactions with humans. Then one day, I risked flying her outside. and it was well worth it :). I don't feed anything special. I feed her bird pellets. If you can't find any around your area, regular seeds are fine. BUT throw in some vegetable leaves every now and then. I just bought another lovebird too, and I'm going to let Angry Bird train it how to fly back :D

    • @Fluffadoodle
      @Fluffadoodle Рік тому

      not "now and then", pet. They NEED veg. I'm sorry if your bird is no longer with you, because that's what happens when you give them seed. They can have a seizure at any point in their life because of fatty liver disease. I wish the best for you as an owner, so I recommend you look at BirdTrick's UA-cam channel and store. All the proper bird owners swear by it.

      aside from when they landed on the camera and when they didn't fly back immediately. Lovebirds are playful and attentive birds that can be trained easily, you just need to know how to train them properly. I think they should've practised a bit more indoors or on a harness to ensure the bird reacts quickly to what's being asked.

He wouldnt know how to get back and could have starved to death or been eaten by a hawk or other animal. he's able to fly around the house and performs a show. i have bad dreams that he gets out and i dont get him back.

    • @TheOpelkoenjas
      @TheOpelkoenjas 10 років тому

      Don't worry, lovebirds get really attached to their human *when raised properly* and won't fly very far. The fact that it stayed at your neighbors should tell you that it knew where it's home was at. Of course, their's always a chance that some predator might get its eyes on it, but the same goes when you let your cat out during night or day. There's always a chance that the cat won't return (run over, attacked by coyotes, attacked by stray dogs, or even by some sick minded people,...).

    Hi. I just got my 4 love birds. They where not trained or hand feed. Good thing is they are on the younger side . I would love them to fly free ans come back. Would you recommend me creating a bond and a recall relationship before allowing them out?

    anyone bitching that its going to fly away forever is tripping or never had a bird escape.. they bird dont know where to go..they jus keep flying tree to tree..and if u tame it well and play with it alot it wont have no problem flying back to his owner..my bird didnt even like me much but i just put its cage outside where it could see it and he flew back inside

      Well, those of us saying that it's not safe are concerned and a lot of us HAVE had birds escape, my family just rescued one flying house to house, we don't know where the bird is from, but yeah, of course people are going to comment their concerns about it, birds aren't stupid, they explore and fly away, it happens, we aren't "tripping or never had a bird escape" lots of people aren't joking about this or being stupid, because these birds could get attacked and killed, or go missing to the point where no one can find them ever again, you do realize that they have natural instinct, right? Maybe think about that.

    My love bird got away 2 times by accident. She came back both times. I consider myself to be very lucky up to this day and my bird to be extremely smart. I'd _never_ recommend anybody to let their parrots fly around the neighbourhood. Watch a video by a NZ guy, whose African Grey escaped after such games (even though she didn't mean to, a gust of wind picked her up and carried her away) and never came back. The owner was distraught.

      +Android Robot or doing this to a pair of them and they breed and destroy the native wild life
