Remember the YZM500 showing up at Mattott's Yamaha in Sherburne, NY. What a race.

I have one of its kids in my garage. The Yamaha YZ250 2-stroke aluminum frame bike. YZM has a lot of kids today. :)

At the time. Funny though that it was reported Yamaha did not want to afford works bikes in 1985, so the FIM/AMA put the production rule on the USA only in 1986. But obviously, Yamaha still made works bikes and kept developing, (like all the factories) with works bikes in Europe still to this day. Since we won the MXofN 5 times in a row, and the FIM hated it, (proven by their efforts to stop our domination with rule changes, mud races after dry practice by over watering, and other dirty little tricks), we should be smart enough to know the USA 1986 production rule was put in place by the FIM (primarily), to stop factory development in the USA.
But we are not that smart. :(

4:25, "They all came to see if the Americans could make it 5 in a row."
First win of the 13 USA win steak was 1981. That makes this race 7 in a row.
I guess common core math education stated early for some people.

Sorry, he was talking about 1985, (which was not mentioned), at Gaildorf Germany, because of the format change.

Yea, I remember you. I was behind you to use the porta-potty. Man, you made a mess.
:) I missed that one, but went to 2007 Buds creek to see RC's last race.
I can't afford to see one again. To drive 4 hours (one way) to Red Bud, (A place I raced the most), stay one night and watch 4 moto's? A grand would have come from my pocket. $300 for a national fort only a day now. I guess I will never see a pro race again. The 2007 MXofN race was a great "last race" to go to though.

Things were kind of gloomy sitting there in the rain after the 1st moto.

Did you go home after the 1st moto then? I mean, if bad weather is all you remember, maybe you should have?

You will never hear a Pro USA "modern racer" say they like the mud today. All a privateer has to do is get good in the mud, and win his first SX or MX national.
But they are too lazy. lol
