Thanks for the video. It brings back a lot of memories. I was there in 1987. Awesome experience. Bob Hannah was definitely the crowd favorite. After the awards ceremony, the riders went back to their motorhome. But Bob Hannah came back out to sign autographs. The crowd went crazy and people were cheering and chanting his name. Then something happened that blew my mind. A girl in the front row pulled up her shirt and showed her breasts. Then she asked Hannah for his autograph. Bob didn't skip a beat, and he took his sharpie, signed his name on her chest, and gave her a kiss on the cheek. The crowd went nuts! Bob Hannah was an amazing rider he always gave 100% but was also a great personality and always made time for his fans.

I was there also and it taking him 2 attempts to clear "screw U" was a highlight I wished they would've shown in this video... what a muddy mess.

Thanks dude! Brought back lots of memories. I was working for Dirt Bike Magazine at that race and a really lucked out. It was sunny and totally dry on Saturday and nice weather but it rained hard all night and though the race and I made the decision to use my manual cameras on Sunday. Almost everyone else fried their cameras with all the electronics and got limited photos but mine kept on shooting. I had muddy water running out of my camera bodies. It was a great race. You had to be there to feel and understand the electricity in the air when Hannah took the lead.

Awesome!! This is a really special one with Hannah on a 125, kind of already retired, but still the Hurricane!
I sure wish someone would post video of the 1978 Des Nations! Hannah raced it on a 500cc and went against Heiki Mikkola.
The choice of Hannah to ride the 125 was controversial, Mickey Dymond (the 125 national champ) was passed over. Not the last time Dymond would get screwed and under appreciated…. Although I’m a big fan of Hannah, I always thought Mickey Dymond was treated very unfairly and it just never made sense why…he was soooo good, and really loved by the fans.
    Glory days of American moto!

W9w I went to the 1988 MXdN in France, we drove in our RV, didn't have the trailer unfortunately (bikes) lol, Ron Lechien won the 250/500 race and Rob Hering came in second for us (GB), I was a Kawasaki boy as I was in my 1st year on a KX100, Ricky Johnson, Ron And Jeff Ward , Jack Vimond and the finest MX rider of all time Jean Michel Bayle on a 125.

Far out dude. This is rad as. You should try put it through a AI upscaler to take it from VHS quality to HD. It'd struggle slightly with the lack of information, but be interesting. Awesone upload regardless

I had just finished my Army enlistment after high school in 87 from Germany and watching Pro MX German Nationals while stationed there. Went to Dilla and camped overnight to watch this race from the edge if the track. What an awesome time it was to have pride in your Country. Trust in your goverment ( maybe not 100% trust but certainly a hell of a lot more than this joke of a clueless admin we have currently ( Biden = Bye / Done !!, and to watch our best American riders smoke em with almost a perfect score. Hannah was phenomenal winning the 125 overall and getting a 3rd in a moto on a 125 against the worlds best 250 riders in the mud!!
