It is crazy to realize that this show was 10 years ago. It is even crazier that Tony Sly is gone. Damn. What a shame. I miss hearing new albums from both No Use and his solos albums. Great songwriter. ...NUFAN were absolutely incredible. All lineups were great...and they always found great guitar players. Top guys being Shiflett, Nassie and Chris Rest. All incredible players. Both Rest and Nassie teach lessons online now if anyone wants to be taught by them.
I’m happy for Tony’s family that they can hop online and see all these great videos. They got better and better as the concert went along. Definitely sped up though!
Not to mention people don't understand but when your 'job' is being in a band your voice get hoarse from all the shows you play. They sound amazing. Tony is/was amazing. ❤
I often wonder what lyrics Tony would have laid down after living through 2020! If he was still here, he could shed some comical light on the dark times we face. His sarcastic truthisms will be something I’ll always miss in life!
True story - saw Tony Sly open for NOFX in Eugene, Oregon in 2010 - he came out on stage and was just like "Hey I'm Tony" and played his solo stuff, and a lot of people were yelling for him to get the fuck off the stage. They had no idea who he was. I asked these two kids near me who were like teenagers if they ever heard of NUFAN and they said nah.
Here's our cover of Tony Sly's "Capo 4th Fret" ...hope you like: Anisaakis "Capo 4th Fret" (Tony Sly Cover) - A Tribute - We miss you so much Tony, Thanx 4 all!!!
i fkn love nufn ,,,but i wasnt keen on this line up ..chris rest is good but hes not dave nassie ..Mad Caddies drummer Boz Rivera plays to fast ..added to much into the songs ..Rory Koff was always spot on ...but still an amazing band !!
Totally agree!!! I love Rory's drumming and Dave Nassie brings a lot more energy to the music and the live performance!! Unfortunately Tony's voice was a little off but he's still great!
Rory's bass drum was ALWAYS lagging which totally destroyed it for me. He never had the flow like Smelly, Derrick, Dave Raun, or Boz. But I guess it's a matter of taste.
Totally agree with this. These dudes are all great players but didn't suit No Use. The Nassie, Rory, Matt and Tony line up was their best. Markus's comment about Rory's drumming is valid but only with the bands earlier material. By about 2001 Rory was up there with the best in business.
RIP Tony Sly, but dear guitarists who tape your toggle switches, there are other solutions to this. Finding a guitar without one, for one and having it hard wired in position and removed by your tech if need be. :-)
This is a real valuable image. UA-cam, I will not forgive you if you delete this video!

Never forget Tony Sly. 8 Years today. I was at this show. International You Day is one of the best songs ever written.
Our first dance at our wedding was the acoustic version of International You Day. NFTS
Como eu queria ter tido a chance de ver o Tony ao vivo 😔. RIP TONY SLY
Chris Rest and Boz Rivera killing it!

polished sounding punk/melodic punk is one of the hardest genres to play correctly and sharply live, and it often shows.
Any live albums you would suggest? 💀💀💀

Face to face first live album,
Not sure about their live in a dive, haven't heard that one.
I agree. It is easy on paper, but it is hard to execute properly.
I miss you Tony ❤ I know you're still singing. Wish I had the honor of meeting you and watching the band play.
still love no use
This is a great show, but still a heart burner
Descanse em paz, Tony Sly. Sua música jamais será esquecida :'(

He probably would have made something beautiful

NUFAN with 2 members of the last incarnation of the legendary RKL.

How much of a Bloody Beast do you have to be in order to hold an entire punk show on drums...so fuckin fast, sounds like RKL^^
RIP Tony Sly, but dear guitarists who tape your toggle switches, there are other solutions to this. Finding a guitar without one, for one and having it hard wired in position and removed by your tech if need be. :-)
