  • From tiny mammals, too odd reptiles, to giant dinosaurs, this is one of the most well studied fossil formations in North America!
Take a journey with me into our prehistoric past as we explore this vast ecosystem, and the wonderful array of life contained within.
    Welcome, to Hell Creek.
I do not own the music or photos/art used in this video. The Thumbnail is art by Andrey Atuchin.

Borealosuchus is probably my favorite and most underrated creature of the Hell Creek formation due to it outliving the famous dinosaurs in its environment as well as becoming the new apex predator in North America during the Paleocene to Eocene. I would love to see a documentary that explains us that it once lived in the shadows of Tyrannosaurus but now it's the new top predator as it ambushes a Titanoides from the water. for those who don't know Titanoides was a member of the Pantodonts which where the first herbivorous mammals to reach large size after the KPG extinction.

The place I live is full of araucarias. I think it's pretty cool, as they are a very ancient family of trees. And as there are trees of the genus Araucaria in Australia and here in Brazil, it means that this genus is at least from the time of Gondwana! Every time I look at those trees I think how ancient and different they are. And no herbivore alive today can touch its canopy from the ground, only a sauropod could

@@Primal_guyCeratops and Triceratops are different ceratopsians. Eotriceratops, and Titanoceratops are also some examples of the Ceratopsian genus. Ceratops means "horned face". So Triceratops means "Three horn face". Eos is the Greek word for Dawn. Eotriceratops means "early three horn face" since they're believed to have been the early ancestors of the Ceratopsian genus.

interesting how clear it is that smaller generalists basically shrugged off the extinctions. The generalist crocs go extinct whilst the specialised big one doesnt. Styginetta I presume likely ate both aquatic animals and plants. Really cool that we have this great snapshot of the extinction and those who were lost and those who survived. Also Enantiornithine birds of prey? I had no idea they existed, thats awesome! Brilliant video!

Wow--very impressive command of taxonomy and extinction patterns.
The music is sometimes too insistent to permit the concentration necessary for digesting such a steady stream of detailed information. But the illustrations compensate! They are fantastic, and I'm often left wondering how we are so lucky to have so many paleo-artists. Where, when, how and why did they acquire such rarified sets of skills quite specific to giving the world astonishing, super-competent, often daring yet utterly credible images of animals that never met a human retina?

I would rather have calmer, more ambient and consistent background music rather than the changing "epic" style movie tracks. Your voice is even and pleasant to listen to, and the music kind of clashes with it. Other than that, fantastic work.

Yeah, I think we need to just do-away with the Torosaurus / Triceratops debate.
No Animals skull can change that much, they’ve also been found is slightly different localities than the other, showing they may have had even slightly different roles in the ecosystem.
They’re just so visually different, and with the different age ranges between Torosaurus and Triceratops specimens themselves, with us having found quite young Torosaurus, defeating the whole argument.
