I had the exact same thought.
yeah once the vocals started, she definitely sounds like one of the past Therion vocalists (I forgot which one because they had so many) rather than Floor or Tarja. The chugging guitars was really a Therion Gothic Kabbalah sound same with the guitar solo.
I have this habit of letting UA-cam run random music in the background, while I do things around the house. When this song began, I listened from another room, and my initial thought was "Nightwish made a cover of Enter Sandman?? NICE!!!!". 😃 Later, when I entered my "cave" (aka. my office), to take another listen, my reaction was "What? That wasn't Nightwish????? 😳 ".

I never expected you'd do Nightwish in this. This is rather an interesting take, and Tuomas did see a Metallica concert and that got him into metal. Keep it up. Nightwish is one of my favorite symphonic power metal bands.
I was just thinking that, I would think it was Black Album era he first saw as well. Pretty sure he said 92 or 93 in an interview a friend took him, and he was blown away.

Tuomas is a Metallica fan true, however they also have covered Megadeth's Symphony of Destruction and Ozzy's Crazy Train.

An amazing cover. To nitpick a bit, Maya's voice sounds more like Melora from Rasputina than either Tarja or Floor. She sounds great, but it feels like her training/experience is more contemporary where the ladies in Nightwish have extensive classical training and would have made some different choices in how to perform certain parts.

This is awesome! I'm not too familiar with Nightwish outside of a few songs, but I love your version. I love Maya's voice too, I can be picky when it comes to women metal vocalists, but she has a very beautiful unique voice. Almost reminds me of a metal Loreena McKennitt in some ways

Brilliant job! This combines different eras of Nightwish.
This was awesome and it would be great to hear more melodic tracks like it (I'm thinking a cover of Vigil by Lamb of God in the style of Insomnium, Opeth, or Arch Enemy). Another Metallica song that could be cool to cover would be No Leaf Clover.

It feels like some of the other bands in the genre, but not Nightwish. The guitar was on point for Nightwish. I'm missing the base and the keyboard was a bit too "sharp" (if that's an appropriate term?) and quiet. If you want to capture the vibe of Nightwish in a song, pretend that you're making the song for a blockbuster movie score.

Metallic and I go way back but that relationship went stale long ago. Nightwish is my new fresh love. Their music speaks to me like Metallica never did. This, however, was well done. I enjoyed it.

I honestly did not hear Nightwish in this... and I don't mean this as an insult at all. The vocalist does not sound like Floor or Tarja or Annette -but she was very great and really had her own unique sound that I have not heard in any symphonic metal bands. The arrangement was brilliant, but i didn't really hear Nightwish in it... if anything, that chugging guitar sound was kind of Gothic Kabbalah era Therion sound. Nightwish overloads the keyboards and symphonic arrangements. I kinda like how the keyboards were actually evenly mixed in this. If it were Nightwish, it probably would have been Marco singing the verses, Tarja the chorus. Although I could hear Floor singing the verses with Marco singing the chorus later era. Yeah despite the fact that I didn't hear Nightwish in this, this was still very awesome and more your own original sound. I would like to see you work with Maya in the future and maybe write some of your own original music? I definitely would buy it.
