      It’s not a bad idea however me personally I would want Reed Sheppard and Dalton Knecht at their respective picks because hearing Clingan could become a top 3 pick and Sheppard is not works as advantage then trading for the #1 pick or any team just to move down how many slots

    I know you say “good value” at 9 trade but maybe not both sides? I would suggest this: Luke Kennard + Santi Aldama + (24) 9th P + (24) 39th P = Jakob Poeltl + Jalen McDaniels + (24) 19th P + (24) 31st P + (28) second 31-41 protected. Memphis only has their first in 2028 so a good for them. Raptors need to bring on and develop assets to help rebuild faster so 39th gives them a chance to get 3rd level rotation player now.

    Clinton was torched by Eddy in the championship game, plus he does seem capable of extended strong minutes on the court. Zack played 38 minutes or more. The Wiz better pick Sarr at #2! Sarr will push the Wiz into full rebuild mode. BTW their current French player is now 6’9” tall according to local reporting. The Wiz finally have a strong teaching/development coaching staff. The local story is the Wiz are trading Kuz for Giddy and draft picks. France’s Olympic team will have a tall talented skinny front court.

      so this is absolutely not true. We talked about this immediately after the game happened. Edey had like 16 points in the first eight minutes then had like four for the next 20 minutes. Then had like 20 in the final 8 minutes after the game with Samson Johnson/Karaban playing the 5 after Clingan went out and the game was like a 17-point game.

    9 for 19,31 AND Jak? That must be dumbest trade. The value of Jak solely suffice the 9th pick. Come on.

    • @GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie
      @GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie  6 місяців тому

    • @ryank794
      @ryank794 6 місяців тому

      @@GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie okay then what is actual value for Kennard? He is nothing but just a salary filer who is even out of rotation for long. Jak was drafted at 9th in a better draft and becomes a solid starting big in league under reasonable long term contracts. Let just say he doesnt suffice for 9th but still 9th this yr does not worth that much as well. Can absolutely tell you that is not something that would happen under Masai.

    • @GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie
      @GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie  6 місяців тому

      that's absolutely not true for Kennard. Think he'd bring a return about equivalent to the No. 31 overall pick. He's been quite literally the best 3-pt shooter in the NBA for four years now making 46 percent from 3, plus can do some stuff on the ball and pass. Was actually pretty okay in the five playoff games he played last year, too. Was super efficient as a scorer. Think this is clearly the disconnect, people thinking Kennard is not worth anything. Kennard is absolutely a plus-value player.

    • @ryank794
      @ryank794 6 місяців тому +1

      @@GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie i get your point. I may underestimate Kennard's value. But still, that is massive lose deal for Toronto side. Jak is the only starting caliber 5 and second best defender in this team who plays significant role. Without him, Toronto got 4W 28L. 2W 9L even with Scottie and Pascal.

    WHY IS CLINGAN WHO GOT OUTSCORED 37-10 BY EDEY RATED SO MUCH HIGHER?

    • @michaelahurt
      @michaelahurt 6 місяців тому

      Because he can stay in the court defensively and he's a better lob threat and probably passer
      Edey is untenable on defense and post scorers don't work in the NBA unless they can dribble into their own post up.
      Watch an NBA team try to throw an entry pass against a modern defense. It's damn near impossible and the guy is gonna get doubled right away anyway
      It took Embiid until he was 30 to be a good enough passer to post up in the playoffs without being a turnover machine

    Great podcast! I think you have good choices for Portland with Buzelis and McCain!
    But, one problem I noticed is with some guys you have listed on their roster depth chart!
    Ben McLemore
    Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
    Keljin Blevins
    Ashton Hagons
    Justin Minaya
    T, J, Leaf
    Ibou Badji
    Moses Brown
    Delano Banton
    It was three years ago during the 2021/22 season when McLemore last played for the Blazers. Hollis-Jefferson briefly played in 11 games during the 2020/21 season at the very end. Blevins last sat on the bench as Lilllard's cousin during the 2021/22 season. T.J.Leaf was on a brief two-way contract at the end of the 2020/21 season. Hagans, Minaya, and Badji were all on two-ways this past year and may not even be back. Brown is no longer on the team as his contract expired. Banton may or may not have his team option picked up.
    Also, I think you're right, that there will be some consolidation. You can definitely bet on them trading some of, if not eventually all of Brogdon, Grant, Williams, Thybulle, and very possibly Murray and especially Simons as he doesn't fit with Scoot and Sharpe at all!

      @@GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie it seems like too much giving up 19 and 31 and poeltl for the 9th pick for kennard and konchar. end of the day kennard has played 35, 24 and 39 games last 3 seasons with injury. i see kennard and konchar as filler with no value. jakob poeltl on the market likely gets you a top 14 protected pick in a draft. so my estimate is this draft being flat likely the picks are 5 spots later in a strong draft. so the value is about where it is suppose to be. i think the trade likely is kennard, konchar and 9th for jakob poeltl and 31st which is like a late 1st round pick. grizzlies save 500k on cap space in the trade as a bonus. i dont think raptors will give poeltl and the 19th and 31st pick for 9th pick. kennard with his injuries and also konchar are likely just filler.

    Poeltl is probably better than whoever the Raps would get at 9. If the trade happens, they’re sure as hell not giving up 19 & 31. Jak for 9 and salary filler is what’s fair.

    • @GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie
      @GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie  6 місяців тому

      Yeah so like...I just kinda disagree with this. Poeltl is not a top-15 starting center in the league, and he turns 29 before the season. And I do really like Poeltl, and think he's an awesome screener, more mobile big than he gets credit for, gets ORebs, has gotten better as a passer. I know his game. I just also don't think that at 29 years old he's anywhere No. 9 in quality because he's just still very limited beyond doing the little things while also being properly paid.

    • @ScroopyHoopers
      @ScroopyHoopers 6 місяців тому +1

      Agree to disagree here. I don’t think Poeltl is any kind of star or anything, but a cerebral, good passing/rebounding/screening/decision making C is exactly what Memphis needs. Regardless of where he’s ranked on anyone’s tier list, he would fit perfectly imo.
      Where I push back is the thought that number 9 in an historically weak draft needs to be “traded up” for. There are exactly zero sure fire hits in this draft. Not Saar, not Reed, not Topic, not anyone. To think that Tijuan Salaune or anyone else they might get at 9 is automatically going to be better (especially immediately) than a top 10-15 centre in this league, is a bit short sighted.
      Every year drafts have busts in the lottery, this year will be no different. Therefore, again imo, going out and getting a more “sure thing” in Poeltl would benefit that team.

    The Celtics are interesting, because it seems like Stevens doesn't actually care that much about shooting in prospects, even though they're built on 5 out spacing. His draft picks have been Juhann Begarin, JD Davison and Jordan Walsh. He's taken shots on second draft guys in Dalano Banton and Jaden Springer. I remember Jeremy Woo saying that he heard they wanted to take O-Max Prosper before the Mavericks traded up to get him one slot ahead and Mike Gorman said on a broadcast that they loved Jaime Jaquez before it turned out he was going to get taken well ahead of them. It seems like he actually likes taking shots on athleticism and defensive playmaking and seeing if they can work to fix the shot. Maybe Ryan Dunn is a bridge too far, but he does seem to fit that archetype

    Drafting Knecht is my worst nightmare as a Pistons fan. It's Luke Kennard all over again. (Especially with someone like Salaun on the board.)
    You don't draft guys in the lottery whose ceiling is 8th man on a good team. He can't defend, he's not big enough to be a 4, and hes a good shooter but he's not an elite shooter like MPJ or Lauri.
    Just go sign Gary Trent Jr. He's only 2 years older, a better shooter and is good enough to get on the court.
    Knecht is more likely to be out of the NBA in four years than to be a starter on a contender

    If the Wizards take Clingan, Risacher or Castle at 2 I'm becoming a Supersonics fan. They probably have a better chance of winning a championship in the next 20 years.

      Weird take....guessing you want an undersized SG who won't be able to challenge a single perimeter shooter at the NBA level?

    Hornets drafted MKG... we not drafting a similar guy. We'd rather have Cody, Salaun, or Matas than Holland.

      @@jackbirch6816 Agreed... i think theyve seen how picks have worked there too tho... with Codys Shooting ability he is the more playable guy come playoffs. Shooting and height were the main reasons i wanted Miller over Scoot. The same methodology could produce another key piece for the Hornets.

    As Spurs, I would keep number 8 for Topic or Edey.
    Risacher and Topic or Risacher and Edey would be an excellent draft.

      Taking a tiny no-defense bench player at 2 should get everyone fired.

    Blazers do NOT need another non-shooter. Knecht is the perfect floor spacer for Scoot. Plus, he lives near Joe Cronin's childhood home.
