I had the awesome fortune to see Jeff Lorber Fusion at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, TN when I was 18 years old. I had never heard of JLF, but it was a free concert, and I was so glad I stuck around to hear them play. They totally killed that night! I didn't know any of the players, but it was fun to find out later that it was Kenny G. (before he dropped all the letters of his last name) wailing away on the sax and flute solos. Great songs and musicianship by all. What a treat to listen to this jam again!

I lost all 1,500+ vinyls in Hurricane Andrew --- including all of my Jeff Lorber Fusion and Tom Scotts. This album was a classic! Still is! I also attended a concert when the late, great Stanley Turrentine had to OPEN for Lorber because their plane came in VERY late! Jeff and boys received a VERY, VERY frosty reception. That was in '82 , Miami. YIKES!!

Not sure how much truth is in it, but I heard that Jeff composed all the sax/flute solos and notated them for Kenny (G) Gorelick as his improv wasn't up to scratch.

Still sounds fresh as it did back in the day...stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany. NTM, the album is still in my collection. Great music, great memories.

The album that turned me on to jazz. In 1981 I was twenty five and managing a radio shack store in Vancouver Wa. We sold cheap stereos back then and I would set all the FM dials to kink fm out of Portland Oregon and several times a day they played a new up and coming fusion keyboardist that was Jeff Lorber fusion. Good times!

This is soooo funny because I was was doing exactly the same thing in the UK - London at around the same time.. Radio Shack was called “Tandy” in the UK. This was truly a landmark recording and it’s turned me on to some of his earlier work too. 10/10

The flutist Mr. Kenny G was the saxophonist composer that was featured on the 1981 album. In 1981 when I was an elementary school student, I haven't ever heard this song in my life until I was 19 and a high school student.

Kenny G is also an excellent flutist as a sax player. Great musician. And he deserve his success. I prefer seeing a nice guy like Kenny, who is competent, having success instead bull craps like Kanye West, Rihanna, Akon, Lil Kim and etc all this ''rap'' and pseudo ''RnB'' (not a really rythm'n'blues)... this crap is not music and it's selling. So seeing a guy like Kenny G who play sax and flute well, having success with his craps, I'm not offended. The guy need to live and he find the solution. This is ok for me. He's a musician and he deserve to earn money. Why these ''check my dick'' rappers won millions (without composing any music or having any skills in playing an instrument or know how singing. You know everybody could ''sing'' (if you call that singing) like Kanye West not very hard to be mediocre than this usurpator) and bobody screaming about that? I'm more offended seeing a stupid nut like Kanye West selling CD's of his crap non-musician product than seeing Kenny achieving success with billboard and top selling. I prefer seeing Kenny earn money than this non-musician and magic thinking master Mr West.

Yes good for you to see the truth in our man Kenny Gorlic. He is indeed an incredible reed and flute player, this solo on "Magic Lady" is a clinic for jazz players.
Just hoping others can see past the BS regarding fusion.
