Thanks for this video. We live in washington state, & in aug of 08 we drove the 2800 miles to galveston. My daughter joined her bf there. arrived aug 16th, I flew home the 20th. Then Ike hit just days later. My only child was in storms u don't ever see in our state. I was up all night watching the news. Galveston is an incredible place. DD lived there 1 year, then came home summer 09, but is returning to live permanantly this summer. I plan on visiting alot
Galveston's always been a favorite vacation spot of mine,Seeing the progress they've made in rebuilding since Ike is definitely encouraging. Thanks for the great ride along the seawall.
nice to see murdock rebuilt. That was absolutely a very cool shop. I honestly can't ait to go visit, but its going to be hard seeing my daughter be so far away from home.
Galveston is a nice place 2 relax, I have been there almost every summer since I was little, my bby brother & my entire family went last year & told me it was fun. Yeah, the water is dirty but ppl still go 2 relax and have fun.
thanks so much for the vid! i love galveston and would love to have a home there someday. its a magical place for me and everytime i get a little down, i look at your vid and it makes me smile! thanks again!
That hotel on the board walk no longer exists. It's a big theme park now awesome rides. I loved riding that blue roller coaster that takes you straight vertically down as you drop. YAY for Galveston!
I lived in Houston(25 miles north of Galveston) for 10 years. I loved the freedom from cold weather and ice for that long. Sure, we had freezing weather very briefly during that period but so few I can't remember. It would freeze perhaps once each winter - down to 30 degrees or so for only a few hours each winter. For all intents and purposes it was tropical in essense. Palm trees and tropical vegeatation THRIVE. Most tropical gardeners are safe in putting out tender vegetation.
I went down that road back in june 2009 I saw a flattened McDonalds and I saw the Hotel out on the pier, we went to beach 14, man what a vacation!! I will go again someday, this time take my whole family and stay a few days.
Must echo FreewayBrent's comments on the fast recovery of Galveston Island from Ike. I wish New Orleans would have been as fortunate from Katrina. Nice ride and great Vid as usual.
If you are referring to the yellow structures then yes they are port-a-pottys for the people on the beaches. The yellow enclosures just make them look nicer than the blue port-o-pottys.
Awesome video! I am looking into moving to TX and Galveston looks like it'll be perfect for me because I love the waters. Seawall Blvd looks very nice and a very busy boulevard I see. Is it relatively cheap to live in Galveston for the most part? How is the job market there?
From what I read Galveston's water is brown not due to pollution but rather sediment. Also the muddy rivers that dump into it. Either way I've always loved Galveston, and swimming there, brown water or not.
Seems like Galveston has recovered pretty quickly (*especially* comparing the situation to just 2 years ago) from the devastation of Hurricane Ike. That was a solid video; I'll have to download that song. I wish we had warm, sunny beaches up in Northern California, like what I saw in this video! :-(
I remember that Mickey D's right at the end, when I passed it was covered in seagulls! Looking forward to your TX-87 vid, the Port Bolivar ferry is a gas :-)
@Donna DaBillo...the Commodore is an old hotel. Never stayed there. But it is right across the street from where my hubby grew up surfing. 37th street pier. I live just across the Causeway. You drive right through my city on the way to Galveston if you drive down I-45. Hope you enjoy your trip!
Never been to Galveston, but it's a pretty nice tourist area. Yeah, news reporters are crazy! There's too many hurricanes for me to even consider being in that area!
@Bryant5493 Not only it's vanishing, but it's moving to the left, either used by a transition or the picture-in-picture effect, with keyframes. All the work is edited with Pinnacle 14, it's worth a try. I used it for about six months now, and 3 people I know, including ScrewdUpClick, have switched to this program.
ScrewdUPClickV2 what are you using to make these reoordings? I enjoy watching them and i love the selection of music.. What kind of camera and mount are you using?
What are those large steel containers on the shoulder to the right? They have something like yield sign on them and resemble giant port-a-pottys. Are they constuction contrainers of some sort that city or private-owned crews use for some purpose? Great vid, as always.
You have to call a certain number on s sign along tge seawall, pay with credit/debit card, 25 bucks a year, or one dollar an hour. 7days a week, 10 am to 6 pm.
It's funny how all you every hear about is super storm Sandy and we still hear about Katrina. I live on the water and had 5 feet in my downstairs and after Ike people just did what they had to do around here to fix there places up. Sure there were some waiting for handouts but nothing like what we experienced with other places. Proud to live in TX.
@answertotodayis1776 - It is open 24hrs/7days/365 days. The water is brown due to the Mississippi River run off @ Louisiana when it meets the Gulf. The current carries the murky water along the upper Texas coast. When you go a mile or so off shore in Galveston, the water is clear and blue ! In far south Texas "South Padre Island" the water is a light blue-ish/turquoise color, but thats 360 miles southwest of Houston... Check out South Padre Island pics on Google ;-)
Anyone that is bored in Galveston, it is your fault, not Galveston! There is so much to do and see and experience for those of all ages and gender. Yes, good video!
At this very moment,, I'm getting ready to go to Galveston for a week stay . Masks, sanitizer and sunscreen in hand, we are 4 hours drive away from one of my favorites places on Earth!
ps been to florida. its cleaner and nicer but way too crowded. ugh and miserable innthe summer. galveston is magical. not sure why. small town feel maybe! cant be beat!
They say the parking money generated will be for future showers, however, withe number of homeless men on the seawall, they will be the only ones using it.
@psychwardthageneral and if that's the case that's messed up! Sad really! But I still say - If you're living there you're lucky as hell! Forget the left.....check out the view to the right!!!! Beats these corn and tobacco fields.
Well, guess your an expert on all the residents and visitors of that area 0_o Yeah FL and CA have some amazing beaches, kind of common knowledge. Still thats fucking prejudice, good and bad people are everywhere, and some of the nicest I have met were from Texas. Shows what you know.
Reported by media today July 8, 2013, parking will be installed on the seawall, , cost you a dollar per hour to park, what a shame, city keeps killing tourism on ttha island, there is stuff tourism folks dont tell yoi
Well Philip S...apparently you are not accustomed to the finer things in life, so therefore know not of what you are talking about. Your comment reeks of jealously.
I miss Galveston terribly. Love watching this and seeing all the old spots (especially Mario's at the very end).
What a cool video. We are staying in Galveston this coming spring and this is a great preview

I remember that convention center near Kroger. That's where my senior prom was.
Galveston's always been a favorite vacation spot of mine,Seeing the progress they've made in rebuilding since Ike is definitely encouraging. Thanks for the great ride along the seawall.

Dammit, I want it to be summertime again!
Nice oceanside scenery, Click. Thanks for the ride.
nice to see murdock rebuilt. That was absolutely a very cool shop. I honestly can't ait to go visit, but its going to be hard seeing my daughter be so far away from home.
Looks like a beautiful day there! Always love beachside drives like this.
Great video! The waves on the right look awesome sped up, good use of graphics.
WOW.. Thanks for the video. I have not been to Galveston since 1978. I live now in Austin and hope to go there this summer. Great video.
I would always like 2 go 2 Galveston during the summer time. Relaxation at its best.
Galveston is a nice place 2 relax, I have been there almost every summer since I was little, my bby brother & my entire family went last year & told me it was fun. Yeah, the water is dirty but ppl still go 2 relax and have fun.

definitely on my bucket list to get down to this place,i wanted to visit ever since i heard Glen Campbell sing about it
They should have played Glen Campbell's 'Galveston' on this video instead. That's a true classic.
That hotel on the board walk no longer exists. It's a big theme park now awesome rides. I loved riding that blue roller coaster that takes you straight vertically down as you drop. YAY for Galveston!
thanks for posting this. love the song you chose for this!

I rarely respond to videos. But your work is awesome, music is perfect and information is interesting. Keep up the good work!
My family went 2 Galveston yesterday. . . I plan on going there b4 summer ends.
I went down that road back in june 2009 I saw a flattened McDonalds and I saw the Hotel out on the pier, we went to beach 14, man what a vacation!! I will go again someday, this time take my whole family and stay a few days.
Called the pleasure pier. Pretty cool and looks a whole lot better than the old Flagship hotel.
i might come here next week, it looks like a cool city:)
That drive reminds me a ton of PCH in Huntington Beach, CA :) (Orange County)
Must echo FreewayBrent's comments on the fast recovery of Galveston Island from Ike. I wish New Orleans would have been as fortunate from Katrina. Nice ride and great Vid as usual.
Love Galveston. I was just there back in March. The Spot!
Wonderful Bass super

That's nasty bro...don't come to our beaches in Greece with that logic
Stefanos Vaskas Um, ok. I'll go to any beach I want. Water color doesn't deter me.

Man, just imagine how big Galveston would be right now had it not been for the 1900 Hurricane.....
That old hotel BTW was on the pier was torn down a few years ago and Is now a themed Park called Pleasure Pier.
I remember that Mickey D's right at the end, when I passed it was covered in seagulls! Looking forward to your TX-87 vid, the Port Bolivar ferry is a gas :-)
Donna, just got word....someone I know recommends the Commodore. Sorry I didn't g back here sooner. Let me know how your trip goes. Good luck!
Great Video! B.C. Canada

It sucks now because you have to pay to park on the side. Nice video, Good song!!!
What are those large steel containers on the shoulder to the right? They have something like yield sign on them and resemble giant port-a-pottys. Are they constuction contrainers of some sort that city or private-owned crews use for some purpose? Great vid, as always.
So, this is where Dr. Ron Paul's district is located at :)
You have to call a certain number on s sign along tge seawall, pay with credit/debit card, 25 bucks a year, or one dollar an hour. 7days a week, 10 am to 6 pm.
I wish i lived in Galveston
traveled thise same roads this summer (2013) :) i want that to be my home
they drive like crazy
Doing report on the 1900 hurricane that hit here. This place seems like its really prone to destructive storms.
It's funny how all you every hear about is super storm Sandy and we still hear about Katrina. Its out, July 27,2013, city started charging people on the seawall to park.
miss Gtown, haven't seen her hurricane ike, keep sayin I'll move back...
are you from there?
Do you know anything about hotels? I see mixed reviews of the Commodore on the beach, but the pics look nice...
This is awesome.....I saw my job
Seawall Boulevard is a frigging parking lot during summer months.
at 1:33 I was there at that part of the Galveston beach
I have visited there it was nice, I plan on moving nearby can't wait. Everything better in Texas lol.
I went there, did you know I went to the beach:-)
Ok, my bad. Makes sense after a disaster. Thanks.
@Bryant5493 You can just erase files from your hard drive or to get a terabyte drive to put your videos and stuff in.
I hope so, we have never been there an are going in June
The flagship hotel does not look like that no more
@EliteMrBubble .... no joke!
Anyone that is bored in Galveston, it is your fault, not Galveston! There is so much to do and see and experience for those of all ages and gender. Yes, good video!

Music is no good for this type of video.
