Growing up, people thought i was crazy taking walks through the woods. Now today more than ever it has become 'A Thing'. An understanding of your surroundings and how you can utlilize those things around you. Excellent video on passing it on as well as delving into the resources of the natural world. Probably the best resource is the will of wanting to learn and improve whom we are in our surroundings.
Whoa, that was a fatwood goldmine! The beaver jaw was cool too. The principle/culture you talk about is a real blessing. Anyone who can get so much happiness from nature is going to live a fulfilled life. By instilling that in your children you're giving them a true gift.
Really loving your wilderness office, and treasure collection. Would love a long video on showcasing contents and explanation making and or usage of each item. Do you have a favorite book on identifying northwest edibles that is actual paper bound, and not electronic, for those of us at the disadvantage of not having a survival instructor dad? Keep them coming.
A full office tour will certainly be the subject of a future video. We’ve enjoyed and benefitted from the following books: -Basic Illustrated Edible Wild Plants and Useful Herbs By Jim Meuninck -Native American Ethnobotany By Daniel E. Moorman (This book is very detailed and in depth it’s also very pricey $79.95 but has been worth every penny).
Sadly I live in Cali, I’d probably get arrested harvesting fat wood or picking up old bones, or wondering off the trail path. Lol. Oh well, it’s been a minute since I spent time in jail, it’s time to do a treasure walkabout. ,-)

It’s treasure to me too.
Best part was knowing your son will posses your skills!
Nice! Ya that kid cracks me up. He’s always picking up something.

My girlfriend didn't understand what I meant by foraging. We now regularly go.
That’s great! A fun excuse to get outdoors while restocking supplies.
