@@KH-us3rv yeah but there's more to life than just "making goals" you know? our purpose isn't defined by our ability to check things off a list. in fact it's quite damaging how much people are obsessed with being "productive" when all that really matters is YOUR OWN HAPPINESS. obviously that can involve doing projects you're passionate about, but being busy just to be busy? that ain't it. especially when you THINK you have to do something just because OTHER people told you to! don't get so caught up in what you're DOING and focus more on just BEING!

Lixian, you have to remember that Unus and Annus didn’t reach all their goals either! There were things Mark and Ethan mentioned wanting to do with the channel that they just couldn’t because of given circumstances. You have a full time job, and a kid now, and so much more on your plate. I’m pretty sure Unus and Annus would count that as extenuating circumstances. And you came so close to several of those goals. And now you have a better growth and milestone gauge then before, so you’re bound to reach more goals this time than last! You’re doing great. You’re going to keep doing great. I believe in you!

I think the beauty of Unus Annus was that they stuck to something and tried their best. And they celebrated their accomplishments! They said multiple times that there was more they wish they had done (no one could have expected how 2020 turned out). But they still did something amazing! Celebrate what you did accomplish and use that to fuel your passion in accomplishing more! Your edits on Mark's videos are my favorite and I love how you've helped build the lore! You are doing great!

I never watch Unnus Annus. Is it good? Sometimes I came across their videos in my youtube recommendation.

It also showed that through life’s ups and downs you can still accomplish a goal. It’s consistency towards a goal not a sprint to the finish.
One thing that I realized this year is that even though you might not think you are doing your best, it could have been the best you could have done in that moment. Even if you didn’t accomplish your goals, you still made progress

You know, when I first found out about this, I thought and tried to catch up and finish all the episodes. I eventually realised, that, that wasn't the point, and it doesn't matter whether or not you complete everything.
I mean, there is a lot in life I am never going to be able to do, and this helped me realise not only the trueness of that statement, but also how it doesn't matter.
I kind of got literally the exact OPPOSITE of that.
To enjoy life to the fullest, to do as much as you can. That it does matter if you make meaning out of it. That a life worth living will be remembered far longer than a life that is spent in waste.

It was unique in the fact that you could have learned nothing at all and just had fun with it while it lasted or you could take a message or lesson out of it. It really depended on you. my Unus Annus goals for 2022 are:
- get a damn job. i've been so focused on improving my mental health that i've shirked society entirely, and have been seriously suffering for it.
- visit 1 friend that lives out-of-state. this one's lofty, considering my current lack of money and job, but it will make me immensely happy, and i won't ever forget doing it.
- start really learning how to cook. i'm gonna need this one, especially once i go back to school to get my psychology degree in order to become a therapist.
- start learning how to drive. this one is only START. i don't expect to be getting a license, and i have quite the anxiety about controlling a giant metal deathtrap at high speeds, so this one is actually a passive goal.

Focusing on your mental health is sometimes the most important. We feel like we are pushing people away but I like to think we are pulling ourselves closer. You needed every second you took and your practice will be better for it once you start. Never forget to care for yourself first caregiver. And you got this!

All the best Sarah! I don't know you personally so maybe you've done it already, but it's super important to quantify your goals, like ie. do 1 sheet of Korean language exercise every day, post a sketch every day, etc.
And set your goals high. At least if you miss a few days, you'll have at least done 1 each week. If you set yourself a high bar, at least when you look back on it, you'd have at least done more than the minimum you'd have done if you didn't set the specific goals. So you don't have to be so hard on yourself if you didn't get 100%

My Unas Annus goals would be
1 Find a permanent job
2 Go for a walk at least once a week
3 Keep my room tidy to an acceptable standard
If I find more I can achieve along the way I will add them to the list. I didn't actually think about setting goals to better oneself like that until I saw this so I'm gonna give it a try too 👍

Sooo as someone who has been working on goals for years now, I have some advice. If you notice you over set goals because they are not realistic to be achievable (sometimes it happens, you realize what seems cool isn't something that you can realistically get) you shouldn't beat yourself up for not meeting those goal.
Its also a good idea to make short term goals and long term goals. Short term help you meet mini challenges basically, and help you stay on track for your long term goals.
I will say I have never seen it separated into passive and active goals, so that's great to see and do! Definitely keeps you on what you need to do and prevents you from worrying about a goal you can't really work on. Good luck and have a great year!
If the protagonist reached every one of their goals in the first season, then the rest of the show would be either meaningless or repetitive. This is your second chance. This is your time to learn, grow, and thrive! 😁

This is life though, not an anime. Protagonists usually have extremely out of reach goals and the world kind of bends around them in ways to give them opportunities to try and reach those goals. Life doesnt do that
@@themasterseye I'm not saying every goal will be achievable the second time around. I'm not saying all growth happens in the metaphorical second season. I'm only saying not to beat yourself up for failing the first time.
You're are correct, tho. There won't always be an opportunity for every goal. But it is highly unlikely that the windows of opportunity will never appear again. So, until they do pop up again, there's plenty of time to focus on other goals (make a new goals or reexamine previous ones) or better prepare for that window.
Lix, you have done great on the year and you accomplished what you did in the time you had. Unus Anus would be proud because you succeeded in doing SOMETHING! Oh and you and your SO had a BABY!!! You created a whole new life which I think speaks more to the idea behind Unus Anus than anything else. You have literally created a legacy.
I don't think they would be disappointed at you, I think they would tell you to set realistic goals next time 🤣

I know I'm late to this but my Unus Annus goals are:
1. Make 1 game (that I'm proud of)
2. Make at least 4 songs for Spotify
3. Succeed at least 40 EC worth of courses (60 EC is the maximum a full time university study offers in 1 year)
4. Finish chapter 0 and 1 of the D&D campaign guide I want to write
5. Make a new list next year.
Making 1 game in a year is still impressive, even "just" 2 would be a MASSIVE accomplishment

I was going to say, a great way to do goals is to just increase based off of what you actually accomplished the year prior. So from 1 game actually done, to trying for 2 this time. Instead of decreasing from a goal you failed, so from 4 not done, to 3 that might not be done, until you eventually accomplish your goal, which if it keeps not being met, can set you up for feeling like a failure, even though you're not!!! Cause I agree, even 1 game is a huge accomplishment 👏 Two would be massive, and therefore even if you just set your goal at 2, that would be aiming for good progress. Then if you exceed your goal and do 3, you'll feel like a bada**!! lol

Honestly when Mark uploaded his recent video… it hit me hard. It’s been a year since THAT year. Ive done NOTHING. Ugh. Time to work myself into the grind stone- Mark literally encourages me. This year alone he’s worked on so many projects. Lixian this video hit me even harder. Time to make my list!

@@o0Avalon0o agreed. I do celebrate the “smaller/daily” wins. At the end of each year I scrapbook a highlight picture from each month. Im not a UA-cam creator. Several years ago I thought how people have backlogs of videos from moments in time. It’s really interesting. When I lost a family member I started taking more pictures. Now It’s how I reflect on what I did that year-be it an apartment move, work changes, travel, seeing friends or making a new recipe. The past few years have been difficult for a lot of people. It’s a reminder to stay humble and thankful for what I have, but I want to keep growing and pushing myself. Lixian and Mark push themselves and try new things constantly which encourages me to do the same. There is nothing wrong with being satisfied but I want to feed my hunger for life.
Remember how they planned to do a whole bunch of different videos for Unus Annus during 2020 and then quarantine hit, so they had to adjust their goals and plans for the year? This is exactly what happened to you! Don't beat yourself up, because things happen and you have to adjust accordingly to things happening in your life! The fact that you worked towards your goals and made some progress is still inspiring, and I think Unus and Annus would understand that 🖤🤍

Active goals
1. Enroll in tafe (at least start the course)
2. Go to regular therapy
3. Get my drivers license FINALLY
4. Start actually playing d&d instead of being super intimidated and liking it from afar

1. Be in a better mental health place
2. Have better connections with and make some new friends
3. Invest more time into myself overall
Dude, its no wonder you didnt reach your goals, youve got a full time job, are an editor, got a baby, is an artist/animator and a gane dev, yet still almost hit some of your goals, they wouldnt be disappointed, they'd be proud that you had all that on your plate yet still made an actual attempt
My Unus Annus yearly goals are as such:
1) set up an Instagram for my photography and get a portfolio going
2) create a proper plan for moving country with everything worked out in advance
3) do either one cosplay or make a historical reproduction garment

As an update to my goals:
My photography Instagram is set up. I may have not posted in 8 months but I am currently editing the images from my first photography gig
Due to global issues it's looking like I won't be able to move country like I had planned but I have been researching backup options in my current country
It's not really a cosplay and certainly isn't historically accurate but I made a corset and skirt kind of in the style of 50s glam out of a Batman print fabric and it's probably the garment I'm proudest of making so far.
Thank you Lixian for being a great inspiration on setting out achievable personal goals and mostly sticking to them you're an incredible editor and i'm sure this time next year you'll have done all you set out to do and more.

- draw more often
- be more organized

It'll help if you're more specific. For examples:
- Produce at least 1 finished drawing each month.
- Create a schedule/categorization for my stuff and sticking to it.
- Learn new language/skill/go parachuting/discover 1 new favorite food etc.
- Meditate each day or find someone to talk to or set one day when you keep your mind away from work.
My Unus Annus 2022 goals:
1. Get sculpted core and arm wise.
2. Publish bi weekly updates to a comic THATS yet to be released 🥲
3. Survive the year and get my degree almost completed
I am a boy who spent two years procrastinating away. Never studying. Never working. However the board exam news I got for my 9th grade scared the hell out of me, and yet I somehow pulled through and passed the exams. Only to realize that the dude who told me it was a board exam was lying, and that it was just a normal annual exam.
From then on, I decided I would not fail to achieve my newly created goal; to be a topper in my classes and being the child that aces all the tests.
This, now that I think about it, kind of sounds cringy and I get that. But it is still going on and I promised myself I was gonna complete it. It started on 6th March. This, I shall declare here, is my goal for 2022 unus annus. Thank you all for reading.
My Unus Annus goals:
1. Paint more DnD miniatures for my grandfather to enjoy (at least 2)
2. Make ice cream for Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
3. Finish Rune Factory 5 when it comes out
4. Complete a rift pass in Dead By Daylight
That's all I can think of that are specific, and can be accomplished. Making impossible goals makes you not happy with yourself!

Fucking further develops how incredibly hard-working and productive Lixian is, despite that being the exact opposite message he's trying to get across. Most notably was a detail I kinda forgot about - the part where he had a baby this year. So when he just briefly mentions that half way through the video after listing all his accomplishments for the year (which are somehow not meeting his personal expectations, despite being very impressive work), it just absolutely barrels me over with the sudden re-framing of this entire situation. Like it was at least somewhat realistic accomplishments, albeit very impressive. And then for him to be taking care of a baby on top of that...

- Improve on my art (Get better at anatomy, shading, work on being able to finish art pieces faster)
- Improve my mental health at least a little bit
- TRY to get back into dancing

1: Make (write/produce/act) my own monologue and show it on different stages in my hometown.
2: Act in atleast one movie or show.
3: Get atleast one more good friend.
4: Go to Gothenburg and get in to an actingschool for two years.
5: Take new headshots for my acting-CV.
6: Take my driverlicens.
And the least likely but I still wanna do it 7: Go to an another country (maybe Russia, England or France)

as someone that went to school to make video games, something as fleshed out as the Warfstache Clicker game in one year in itself is amazing. making video games is hard, especially by yourself. so props to you, man. I think Unus and Annus would actually be quite proud of what you achieved
During his qna session he reads my comments on i rambling how hard it is to make games and by that point he still just making animation and playing games then probably isn't related in anything ,he decided to make games and he managed to actually complete A LOT of games and i still haven't finished even a single game,so kudos to Lixian for doing it because making a game itself is an achievement!
Came by your channel because I noticed you’re editing for Mark lately has gone to an extreme Epicness that I’ve wondered how it’s possibly human to do so much. Does that mean you’ve worked on your video editing course?
When you fall short when you aim for the moon, you land among the stars. 😊 you did and are doing amazing. I think harnessing your emotions from this last challenge for this year is wonderful. Please don’t continue to be a perfect example that we are our harshest critic. In a way that brings you down instead of motivates you. What you did, and continue to do, is absolutely amazing. Even when you were going through it you recognize that the goals were not realistic for the timeframe and everything. What is most important is they are goals that you are still striving and working for and you did achieve so much!

I feel like we should as people collectively do "Unnus Annus Goal Sets" as a thing out of respect for that beautiful channel. It helped me to grow inside and out. It could keep the memories alive and Memento Mori could be the phrase we should resurrect to give people meaning. Bucket List are an important thing to always have once in a life time.

1. Read 10 books
2. Create 3 pieces of art, written, painted, drawn..
3. Get back into dance competitions as an adult
4. Accompany my students to most, if not all!, of their competitions
5. Get back into morning walks

Aha so I'm struggling, stories are okay but that's a slow process (for now), the short movie has been shelved H A R D, and the gauntlets are.. taking their time.. so just over half way through the year and I have like. 0.2 out of 3 goals... but I shall be trying to pick up the pace with them, next years goals will be fun as well so let's look forward to that too :)
I remember Unus and Annus stressing the importance of TRYING. To set goals for yourself and striving toward them. They wouldn't care that you didn't reach your lofty goals (and yes, they are lofty because you have so much going on in your life besides this list). They would be proud that you made goals, strived for them, and ultimately improved in the process. You did great, keep it up. Memento Mori
My Unus Annus goals (I’ll probably make more soon):
• Play my bass at least once a week
• Be in at least two productions at my college
• Draw something (it can be anything, even just a stupid doodle) twice a week
• Finally meet my online friend in real life
My Unus Annus yearly goals are:
-Get to a point where I can meditate at least twice a week
-Practice more on 3D modelling and make a 3D model from scratch of my persona
-Start my 2nd channel
-Finish the animatic I'm working on and hopefully do some animation memes (probably lower effort ones though, this one is too ambitious already).

Their message is something I constantly think about. Remember death, because that's what gives life meaning and never take a second for granted. Unus Annus depicted something so exquisite and special that we had no idea what it was going to become up until after it had ended.

My goals this Annus:
*- Finish one (1) drawing before the end of this month, and FINISH THE LINEART THIS WEEK* (This is the first time I've picked up a pencil for drawing purposes in several years, and the first non-doodle I've ever attempted. I never learned how to draw. I've got a drawing that I've been chipping away at the lineart for for months now because both life and myself keep getting in the way, and I just never get to it. I can't seem to will myself into doing anything productive at all, but managing my mental health will just have to wait.)
*- Write one (1) chapter of one (1) fanfic* (This will be my first one.)
*- Learn how to dance at least a little bit before the start of 2022, and start this month*
Hey. You got this. I find working on drawing you can listen to music or podcasts, sometimes even audio books if you have that.
For writing the same goes for music but instrumental works better since there's no words to listen to as they interrupt the writing process by trying to focus on multiple words from both your story and the song

No way dude you did the same thing I did when Unus Annus ended... I was literally like **sheds tears** "they worked so hard, they came so far, I'm gonna work hard too!!!" I ended up not really accomplishing my goals either. I started out strong but ended up realizing mid-way that id be better off working through my past traumas and ideals of toxic-productivity so I could maybe have a better quality of life and healthier work habits moving forward.
The Unus Annus deathiversary has definitely become somewhat of a new years now haha, I love this idea and I'd love to try again!!! My goals were overwhelmingly huge last time so I'm just gonna say I wanna.... Create as much content as I can and hopefully hit my first 1k subs by the end of the year!! And grow a lot as an artist and editor. :D Cheers to anyone doing the same, let's get through this year together!!!

It’s ok to be critical but Lixian you have left an impact on my life just as much as markiplier did when growing up. You are an amazing talented person and the impact you have on people out here watching UA-cam to find some escape from the chaotic world has been insane! Unus Annus Yearly goals:
1: Become healthier. (In 2020 I beat Breast Cancer, so 2021 has been focused on recovering from the surgeries and chemo, plus I'm disabled).
2: Set myself up as a freelance voice actor. (I have one regular production, I'd love to work on more).
3: Actually finish writing my radio play style screenplay.
4: Begin recording my radio play & release regular episodes as a podcast.
