My former college roommate was a professor (he is now retired). He discusses cultural issues in New Mexico and the Spanish influence and talks about this in that context. You can find it at "Cultural Perspectives of New Mexico - Larry Torres" Pick it up at 6:00 and watch for 2 minutes if you don't want to hear the whole thing (but I like the whole thing).

What was the Crypto-Jews opinions of Bitcoin and Ethereum? Would they have preferred proof-of-work or proof-of-stake consensus algorithms? Is 'proof-of-work' inherently more 'godly' than 'proof-of-stake' due to actual labor/energy being expended on consensus?

Throughout extreme south Texas and northern Mexico you find that the name Esther was once used very frequently among the crypto families up until the mid 20th century. Regrettably, much of this is finally fading away in the 21st century. Ironically, in the absence of Christian persecution, there seems to be an apathy among many people who are obviously crypto descended
They KNOW from family legends that they are Jews but they don't make any effort to reach out to rejoin normative Judaism. But they are proud that they still put stones on graves, and that they never eat pork tamales. That is the reality here on the Rio Grande river in Laredo, Roma, the Valley Monterrey, etc. We need Spanish language documentary videos to at least educate people. And yet we don't proselytize.. but look at Chabad going after fallen away Ashkenazim. Could we not have an equivalent Sephardic outreach for people whose families haven't been in a synagogue for 16-20 generations? 🤔

Curious that other peoples that were oppressed (the Taino of cuba) that YHVH loved were destroyed while this strange people that did not "GROAN" but had some bit of difficulty (versus the Maccadians) are considered the oppressed of the world. Hebrews are not 'Jewish" but I think HaShem is very fond of you because you are very adorable. The Shekinah of the Glory that represent Ester...The Devine Femine. The Aleph Tau that was given to Ruth...the beauty. YAHshua Hamshiech came to bring you home brother. You have to find a path through the son to the father and the mother

      Answers to your questions.
      1. The term Jew (in English), Hebrew, and Israelite were used interchangeably through the birth of the State of Israel in 1948. Now, since every Jew does not live in the State of Israel, and there are Arab Israelis and other Israelis who are not Jewish, the term "Jew" encompasses Jews (around 15 million around the world) who do not live in the State of Israel. The term itself comes from the Tribe of Judah and the Kingdom of Judah.
      2. The name "Jesus" (in English) should more accurately be called Joshua in English. That is what Jesus himself was called in what is his everyday language, Aramaic -- Jehoshua. Aramaic, which is still spoken by some old Christian communities in Syria and other places in the Middle East, is closely related to Hebrew/. Jesus is a Koin Greek (the language of the New Testament) transliteration of the name Joshua.
      3. The first Christians were overwhelmingly either Aramaic speaking (including the Jerusalem and Galilean communities) or Koin Greek speaking (in places like Alexandria and Antioch). The Septuagint, a version of the Old Testament written in Greek several hundred years before Jesus, served as the initial foundation for the first (Old) portions of the Bible.

“Jew” comes from Old French “juif,” which derives from Latin and Greek iudaios. Latin and Greek do not have a J, but French does. All of our Biblical names come through Old French. Also, in your King James Bible of 1611, J and I are interchangeable, suggesting even then the pronunciation wasn’t yet clear (just as German J carries a /y/ sound).
“Hebrew” is from “ivri” and the patriarch “Ever/Eber” (see Genesis 10 and 11). Jews are one tribe of Hebrews, the tribe of Judah/Judea
