And the way it usually works is that a feature like this, in billboard or variety or rolling stone or whatever is intended to reach [grammy] voters to make the case for the music and its value. By now everyone know this game. Which is why the tone of this particular feature article on bts in billboard feels off-game, as there's a lot here that actually undermines and even challenges bts's legitimacy and popularity" they are invalidating bts for succeeding under the system designed to favor US artists that make them money. BTS said in their 2022 festa dinner, where they announced a break from some group activities, that they spent these last two years trying for grammys and other breakthroughs and it left them frustrated and exhausted. it looks like they are done with western industry at this point. when after that j-hope released his solo album, he focused the promotion in south korea. the album was not even available to buy on platforms that count for US charts so, that bb article is an important point in time, because namjoon told them in their face that if they are not satisfied with how their own chart works then they should change the rules instead of attacking bts and army for it. next year billboard followed his advice and changes the rules, making sales even less valuable for the hot100 chart. right now the top10 of hot100 is basically a top radio chart. even if some artists have a big enough support to break through to the first place, the song won't stay there. radio play is what secures the longevity, bc radio plays paid songs week after week after week a lot of bitter people were celebrating, because it ment it's going to be harder for bts to enter hot100. however, come the 15 aug of 2022, bts placed #10 in the hot100 with the newly released single Bad Decisions. it's wasn't the first place, but it was enough to show that we are not done for and on 16 aug 2022, literally next day, bb changes the rules once again and drastically reduces the value of sales in the chart metrics that was actually the big setback in the things we were able to achieve, and a lof of people were expecting (and anticipating) that bts will not achieve anything remarkable in the bb chart ever again, because radio is not in their favor (standart zero points for radioplay), sales do not bring much value in the chart metric anymore (they did not to begin with, but now it was really bad) and you can't compete with just streams on your side against acts that get millions in just radio play Jimin's song Like Crazy getting the top spot was actually the first time we were able to achieve the #1 again. the reason is, the rules have changed and we had to adapt, we spent time learning the new environment to win the chart at its own game again. we play by the rules that we are given. when you complicate the rules, we learn it and win anyway, even of it requires more effort and time after Jimin getting the first place, bb changed the rules AGAIN, immediately midweek, with no prior or post notice. the explanation was not provided since. we just saw that compared to the first week the sales of the the second week were filtered by 90% one might think what a stupid theory that the whole industry will be so bothered by some bts group, but when it comes to big money, people ARE bothered. bts taking the first place on biggest music chart just with army's efforts leaves the whole corrupt system without an opportunity to sell and buy that first place and then take all the benefits that come with it bts' path is never easy as someone who makes the steps that were never done before. it's "funny" how today we are witnessing something similar to what was happening all these years ago in kpop industry: the system and people who benefit from it not wanting bts to succeed further, because by the words or the actions or by just existing bts brings to light the flaws and injustice that this system cultivates to keep profiting. they have faced such a push back in south korea in their debut years until they became bigger than that, and now they are pushing through US industry, again being called unauthentic, inorganic, etc. where else have you seen an artist on the billboard interview answering in all seriousness asked question if their fans' engagement with their music is a chart manipulation? disrespectful.
This was absolutely amazing to read, thank you so much for all this information. You, ARMY, have my respect for all the work you put on learning how everything works and making sure BTS and its members get what they deserve. Me and Irene are thinking about music industry videos that explain some parts of the industry that are not really explained in any BTS related video and that may help you understanding other things and help them in some other ways. @@frankiebiggz big kudos to US/PR armys who are tirelessly fighting with the industry every release, to all international armys who raise funds to help them while also working on local charts to get big global numbers for BTS! we are all in one boat and should help each other. thank you for aiming to contribute more to the community. borahae 💜
just to point out the numbers BTS can do organically because armys have a culture of buying MUSIC BTS' last studio album BE from 2020 had its tittle song Life Goes On debuting on #1 on hot100, with the rest of the songs from the album charting alongside it on 3, 13, 22, 69, 70 and 72 places! THE WHOLE album charted, and it only had 1 version with the price of 32$. it became BTS's second-highest first-week sales album with 2,274,882 copies sold, the first being Map of the Soul: 7 released earlier in 2020 which sold 3,378,633 copies in its first week, but had 4 versions BTS were estimated to have made approximately $81 million from the first-week sales of BE, which is why we will always encourage fellow armys to buy music. this is literally what allows BTS to put effort and attention into their art unapologetically, without looking back or needing to appease the industry. fan support for an artist means freedom
ARMYs beef with those different entities is endless Today, V had a release (a Bing Crosby 'White Christmas' duet). Bing Crosby made his K-pop debut by only appearing on K-pop playlists on Spotify as all BTS releases, iTunes is messing up the sales as always, Geffen is sabotaging the sales as always and UA-cam is trying to convince us that a ratio of 20k+ likes and 4k views on an MV is somehow normal
Michael Jackson became so big that he couldn't be ignored in this industry so I hope BTS will do the same and I think Bang Si Hyuk's strategy is interesting because it allows him to quietly enter this part of the industry...Ignoring BTS was probably easier than ignoring 7 solo members who each achieved exploits in the charts...BTS's comeback is going to be a tsunami..
I don’t doubt that the American music industry will try to capitalize on BTS’ comeback. I hope BigHit is smart and won’t let them appear on certain shows unless they’re guaranteed a certain amount of radio play etc. If they’re not going to play the songs then they shouldn’t get the benefit of having the members appear on their radio shows

As kind of a related aside from a long-term BTS fan, when BTS shocked the Western music industry with their first award show performance in America in 2017, there was a huge push in Western media to conceive of them as commercially driven visuals cloaked in a boyband stigma of being noncreative pretty boy performers. They were teased with tv and radio appearances asking things like who are you dating and playing up a fawning girls aspect to their ARMY fandom. I cannot recall any efforts to portray them as creative artists in the West. I remember repeatedly wincing at the Western Chauvinism of interviewers but when you watch things such as this mv you realize it is an us versus them which involves kneejerk race, money and power.
Boracity is not wrong. ARMYs are definitely collectors of BTS content especially their albums. They put so much quality and creativity into the works they put out that ARMYs will genuinely support it. Even with 4 versions of an album, I want to buy all 4 but can only afford 1 or 2 at least. There's still a lot I have to save for in order to complete my personal collection. 😊💜
I've caught UA-cam out so many time's removing views from BTS MV's I write down the number of views on a given MV over a period of 7 days and oh boy the amount of time the figures go backwards is well to say the least disappointing.
In my coutry (EU) on radio never played Despacito with Bieber (thankfully), always original version. I was actually shocked when I found out later that there is version with JB and it was soo weak..... 😅
Thank you for watching Boracity videos. I really appreciate hearing another opinion on these topics, especially from someone that knows as much about the music industry as you do. 💜
You hit the nail on the head. It's racism. I live in the US and I'm constantly hearing the words diversity and inclusion. What a joke! We talk about diversity and inclusion but it isn't truly implemented or is only specific to a couple of groups. It's so sad because there is so much to learn and appreciate about other ethnicities/cultures. If I wasn't open to listening and learning about BTS, think about all the incredible things I would have missed out on (i.e. their singing, dancing, positivity, being part of ARMY, Korean culture, etc.). I can't imagine my life without BTS. They helped me, and others, through some tough times. How many artists have had that kind of impact on their fans?! My daughter said she doesn't understand how ARMYs can care so much about people they have never met. My response to her was, if you were an ARMY you would understand. 💜
Hi Frankie and Irene! I’m so glad I found your channel, it’s great hearing insights from an insider’s perspective. I was wondering if Irene had any thoughts about the New Jeans/Ador situation. Basically New Jeans is trying to get out of their exclusive contract 5 years early by holding a press conference and saying they terminated the contract. There’s more to it than that, but that’s the general idea. Thanks!
Irene - hey! Thanks for asking! I haven't been following the case in depth. By just 'lawyer feel' I tend to be on Hybe's side, I don't think there would be grounds for termination with the allegations they've made against Hybe. I just watched this awesome video by a lawyer in Seoul that basically explains it perfectly: ua-cam.com/video/SetopX8i_u8/v-deo.htmlsi=NLZNjd4EV7ffg9sz hope this helps!! I don't like streaming on spotify.Simple reason I put in the album I want,I hear a couple of songs, and then they put something totally different on. See you soon.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I agree 💯. I won’t use Spotify for the same reason. I want to hear what I want to hear. No more no less. Sometimes on Spotify you try to play a song you searched for and instead it automatically plays entirely different songs by a different artists before playing the one you want.
turn off the autoplay feature in settings of your spotify + premium will help with getting rid of random songs in your queue. or, you could contribute to bts numbers on platforms like apple music or pandora! let's do our best for the boys 💜

Are you saying BTS stopped making good music because they entered the US? That's a insane statement to me. Do you even watch their lives or even their Insta posts. They love American music and always have since their debut. Their music is amazing whether it's in Korean or English. They are amazing and have changed their style every comeback or am I misinterpreting what your saying?
One of the most obvious public examples of MId-America/white privilege, imo, was MTV not playing artists of color when they started. I don't remember exactly when, but Michael Jackson and many other artists took care of that by speaking out loud about it. Of course, it was still the same ole same ole in terms of the industry paying out for special treatment. At least that changed and there were more than just 'white' performers on MTV afterward. Enjoyed this! 💜💜💜
David Bowie also spoke about this... Too bad we don't have a MUSIC TV anymore... or maybe not if they were gonna keep the white skin favoritism... Glad we have UA-cam now, however it is still not "perfect" because of all of the deleted views and all that jazz, but at least we can choose what to watch!
This leads me to the question(s) of ... is there a music chart out there that is not corrupt? Could someone trustworthy make a totally new music chart that will blow up & eventually supersede the other currently popular charts such as Billboard, but that this new chart is more accurate & trusted? It would need to be regulated & protected in some way that it could never become corrupt & sabotaged. Being in the US, I am old enough to remember the charts from American Bandstand & American Top 40 & they were considered a bit more accurate in their heyday relative to than perhaps today with today's corruption. Unfortunately those 2 old charts vanished once Dick Clark & Casey Kasem passed away (I think Casey retired first before dying, but not Dick), although as far as I know Ryan Seacrest (who you saw in this Boracity video) is still maintaining & continuing his own American Top 40 (AT40), but I do not listen to it. RIP Dick & Casey, I miss these 2 guys & my days of youth. You can actually view old episodes of Clark's American Bandstand & Kasem's American Top 40 here on youtube. Those were the days, heh. 12/06/24
Agree 💯. Loved American bandstand. That was a time in history that was inclusive with every artists anywhere that was popular and didn't matter where they came from.
also if you want to see the newest example that UA-cam is deleting an ridiculous number of view just look at JIN's I'll be there MV. It was puplished by HYBE a channel with over 76M subscribes and currently has 25M views. An alternative MV was puplished a few days after on Dolby. A channel with 781k subscribes. On there the video has currently 27M views. So UA-cam really want to tell us that a video which got uploaded later on on a much, MUCH smaller channel has more views than the OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO?? Be for real!!
Not yet! Can't keep up with these guys... lol... I will try to fit a reaction to the MV next week! Also, the documentary is in cinemas here, but they have Spanish CC, so I cannot really watch in as my Spanish is not that good. 😔😔
Do you really think this is about racism? That drives the stereotyping, prejudices and general cornering, for sure. But to me, it looks like it's all just about money, plain and simple. The rest are just excuses and stories. I don't think it's so much racist, but capitalist. But then, those are nearly the same. 💜
Xenophobia yes. Racism no. I can’t listen to the radio without hearing drake, The Weeknd, Sza, etc every 2 minutes. Also tired of middle America being blamed for the California music industry’s actions. We like diverse artists just fine out here.

Which is why the tone of this particular feature article on bts in billboard feels off-game, as there's a lot here that actually undermines and even challenges bts's legitimacy and popularity"
they are invalidating bts for succeeding under the system designed to favor US artists that make them money. BTS said in their 2022 festa dinner, where they announced a break from some group activities, that they spent these last two years trying for grammys and other breakthroughs and it left them frustrated and exhausted. it looks like they are done with western industry at this point. when after that j-hope released his solo album, he focused the promotion in south korea. the album was not even available to buy on platforms that count for US charts
so, that bb article is an important point in time, because namjoon told them in their face that if they are not satisfied with how their own chart works then they should change the rules instead of attacking bts and army for it. next year billboard followed his advice and changes the rules, making sales even less valuable for the hot100 chart. right now the top10 of hot100 is basically a top radio chart. even if some artists have a big enough support to break through to the first place, the song won't stay there. radio play is what secures the longevity, bc radio plays paid songs week after week after week
a lot of bitter people were celebrating, because it ment it's going to be harder for bts to enter hot100. however, come the 15 aug of 2022, bts placed #10 in the hot100 with the newly released single Bad Decisions. it's wasn't the first place, but it was enough to show that we are not done for
and on 16 aug 2022, literally next day, bb changes the rules once again and drastically reduces the value of sales in the chart metrics
that was actually the big setback in the things we were able to achieve, and a lof of people were expecting (and anticipating) that bts will not achieve anything remarkable in the bb chart ever again, because radio is not in their favor (standart zero points for radioplay), sales do not bring much value in the chart metric anymore (they did not to begin with, but now it was really bad) and you can't compete with just streams on your side against acts that get millions in just radio play
Jimin's song Like Crazy getting the top spot was actually the first time we were able to achieve the #1 again. the reason is, the rules have changed and we had to adapt, we spent time learning the new environment to win the chart at its own game again. we play by the rules that we are given. when you complicate the rules, we learn it and win anyway, even of it requires more effort and time
after Jimin getting the first place, bb changed the rules AGAIN, immediately midweek, with no prior or post notice. the explanation was not provided since. we just saw that compared to the first week the sales of the the second week were filtered by 90%
one might think what a stupid theory that the whole industry will be so bothered by some bts group, but when it comes to big money, people ARE bothered. bts taking the first place on biggest music chart just with army's efforts leaves the whole corrupt system without an opportunity to sell and buy that first place and then take all the benefits that come with it
bts' path is never easy as someone who makes the steps that were never done before. it's "funny" how today we are witnessing something similar to what was happening all these years ago in kpop industry: the system and people who benefit from it not wanting bts to succeed further, because by the words or the actions or by just existing bts brings to light the flaws and injustice that this system cultivates to keep profiting. they have faced such a push back in south korea in their debut years until they became bigger than that, and now they are pushing through US industry, again being called unauthentic, inorganic, etc. where else have you seen an artist on the billboard interview answering in all seriousness asked question if their fans' engagement with their music is a chart manipulation? disrespectful.
@@erume5776That was spot on! Thank you, 👋💜💜💜
This was an excellent breakdown of what when and how it went down. Hope more Army and Casual Army see it and understand.
Please keep on telling us these stories, as they help us understand what happened before we "got here". Much love and we purple you! 💜💜💜
@@frankiebiggz big kudos to US/PR armys who are tirelessly fighting with the industry every release, to all international armys who raise funds to help them while also working on local charts to get big global numbers for BTS! we are all in one boat and should help each other. thank you for aiming to contribute more to the community. borahae 💜
just to point out the numbers BTS can do organically because armys have a culture of buying MUSIC
BTS' last studio album BE from 2020 had its tittle song Life Goes On debuting on #1 on hot100, with the rest of the songs from the album charting alongside it on 3, 13, 22, 69, 70 and 72 places! THE WHOLE album charted, and it only had 1 version with the price of 32$. it became BTS's second-highest first-week sales album with 2,274,882 copies sold, the first being Map of the Soul: 7 released earlier in 2020 which sold 3,378,633 copies in its first week, but had 4 versions
BTS were estimated to have made approximately $81 million from the first-week sales of BE, which is why we will always encourage fellow armys to buy music. this is literally what allows BTS to put effort and attention into their art unapologetically, without looking back or needing to appease the industry. fan support for an artist means freedom
Not to mention that Life Goes On was the first song *in Korean* to ever top the chart. 💜
ARMYs beef with those different entities is endless
Today, V had a release (a Bing Crosby 'White Christmas' duet).
If they’re not going to play the songs then they shouldn’t get the benefit of having the members appear on their radio shows
@@bereasonable8018 Army and Bangtan will rule and party! We live to our own rules and go our own way! We don't need any favours anymore (and never got any anyways). Who cares what they think or do? They already know that we are coming, but I don't think they're properly prepared. Maybe that's Karma coming through after our MotS tour was cancelled and 10 years of sabotage... Fireworks and purple lights all over the globe in 2025 (D-24! 😊)! Let's come together again, the world is in shatters and we've been separated for too long! CONNECT and FOCUS is bulletproof! PS: 'I hope BH ...' is ultimately a harmful story. Bangtan has a veto on everything! BH supports them and makes plans and suggestions. They only do what they want and agree to! Everything is for a reason. TRUST BTS!
(Sorry, I'm not good with my words today, but I think it's understandable. How are you?)
Bts armys are the power of BTS.
BTS will always be a threat to the musical world 🌍
They got the Brains
They got the Teamwork
They got sensitivities with each other's feelings/emotions and they carry that into their
Compositions both lyrically/musically.
They got the drive/passion.
Now that they becoming English speaking, their Cross over mission is total domination of the music industry which they have already accomplished.
They always aim for perfection .
They work hard and they slso play hard
From here on out they will continue to dominate the music charts.
They will be in very high demand worldwide.
There's no stopping them.
Their's are musical DNA's
The messages in their music
appeals to the generational cross barriers
In addition to not being of a certain ethnicity, it's because they aren't American or European.
Agreed
Bang Si Hyuk said he wants to make a whole new industry. That's why he's developing modern interactive technologies.
Yes I keep hearting about the BTS metaverse
@@bereasonable8018 First, how are you? I hope that you're doing well! I kinda lost track of you. Second, what 'BTS metaverse'? 💜
@ hi. I’m well thanks. Still visiting family. The metaverse was described on another channel. Something about being able to meet up and/or watch the members virtually using interactive AI technology/software. She mentioned the possibility of multiple applications such as concerts and gaming.
@bereasonable8018 You're still on the road and not at home yet? Ooh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you! I hope you're enjoying youself! But I hope you heard V! 😊 🫂 💜
@ you’re not a bother. I’m not actively on the road again until tomorrow.
Thank you for your input. Borahae (Bora - Hae like HEY). ☺
Thanks! 😃
i was going to say this, lol. ty.
I've caught UA-cam out so many time's removing views from BTS MV's I write down the number of views on a given MV over a period of 7 days and oh boy the amount of time the figures go backwards is well to say the least disappointing.
🙄 Not good... 🙄
@@frankiebiggz yeah, sigh
ouch
In my coutry (EU) on radio never played Despacito with Bieber (thankfully), always original version. I was actually shocked when I found out later that there is version with JB and it was soo weak..... 😅
Same 😅
Thank you for watching Boracity videos. I really appreciate hearing another opinion on these topics, especially from someone that knows as much about the music industry as you do. 💜
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!!
Thanks for your time!! I really like boracity she always takes receipts for ant doubt not to be any place jejje

Thanks!
not sure if she knows about that. They pretty new to kpop.
Much love and happy holidays! 🎄
awesome. I’ll have to watch it. Thank you so much for responding! Happy Holidays to you!
Perfect start to the weekend. Just got home and now relaxing with Frankie and Irene 🤗 Let‘s gooooooooooo
Thank you so much!!
What a nice surprise ..as usual love boracity so much ..make my evening..thank you Frankie and Irene who word hard behind the camera Borahae 💜💜💜
I don't like streaming on spotify.Simple reason I put in the album I want,I hear a couple of songs, and then they put something totally different on. YT also is confusing because if the algorithm picks up a pattern it thinks your a bot and it won't count. They got you comi g and going.Enjoyed your reaction to BoraCity. She's great.
@ I don’t subscribe to Spotify but I do listen to BTS on another streaming app.
What streaming platforms do you guys use/trust?
@@frankiebiggz I use Amazon because I have had an account with them for many years and have numerous playlists

It’s always great to hear your insights because you and Irene know a lot about the industry
Thank you! Wait for 2025! Great things coming!

Frankie, I would love if you could check out more of Aurora’s music. I think you’re gonna enjoy her sound so much, she’s so unique
Sure thing! 2025 though, this month is full! Irene has got me working!! lol!!
@ No problem! 😍
I’m gonna leave some suggestions for you:
- When The Dark Dresses Lightly - the Amazon Curved version
- A Soul With No King - Vevo performance
- Through the Eyes of a Child - live at Nidarosdomen Cathedral (this whole concert is stunning)
- All Is Soft Inside - live at KEXP 2018
It's starting to get worse for BTS, the sales chart freeze, the iTunes freeze scheme, bts have overwhelming success on the iTunes chart, it only takes hours from ARMY until the bts song reaches number 1 across iTunes 100 countries.
😠
Just so you know it's Bora City as in Bora the Korean for the colour Purple so in English Bora City means 'Purple City'. Purple is ARMY's Colour it's BTS colour.
I know, I keep pronouncing it wrong 😭
Hi Frankie and Irene 💜 will wait for your reaction on V''s and Bing Crosbys White Christmas. Everybody who already watched the MV cried because Yeontan V's beloved dog who passed away few days ago was featured in the video. All ARMY love Yeontan.
I don't think Yeontan just passed away few day ago, I think it's been couple of months ago. V just finally addressed it and let us know couple this week.
@@esnftan11Sorry i thought he just passed away when V wrote his letter for ARMY. No wonder the other MV was full of Yeontan photos.
@@bebottrinidad9133 I can only imagine how hard it was for it so he probably needed his private time to process that's why he didn't announce it right away. But these videos are such a great tribute to our little Yeontan.
@@frankiebiggz Agreed! 💜💜💜
The Industrie dont own them like the others so it does not make any money with them, that is the main reason$$$$$$$$ cash cash cash
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
You know what is fascinating. While I was watching this my UA-cam crashed. 🤔
Interesting... 🤨
Have you seen RM new music video?
Have you seen his documentary in the cinema?😊
Not yet! Can't keep up with these guys... lol... I will try to fit a reaction to the MV next week!
Also, the documentary is in cinemas here, but they have Spanish CC, so I cannot really watch in as my Spanish is not that good. 😔😔
how are you bro ,I can't wait to see your reaction to V & Bing Crosby - 'White Christmas' MV coming out today 🤧🤧💜💜🎄
Hi! 💜💜🇲🇽🇲🇽💜💜
BTS is too big to fail.
Not terrified, they just don't have the luck. Some k-pop idols are actually more talented than bts, can perfectly sing and dance all together.
