I am a decedent of Byron 's body guards, while he was in Iouannina and Epirus as well as the Albanian Shquip clans. I am very pleased to honour our benifactor and National Hero of Greek Independence, we came from Souli, and his respect for our clans, and resistance to the Ottomans, my British mothers family was horrified at their new family member was named in honour of a revolutionary degenerate.
As an addition to this programme, the BBC Radio Great Lives series had a programme about Byron. It is available on BBC Sounds. While Byron may not be one’s first choice as a baby sitter or prospective son-in-law, he is placed in the context of his time and gives a broader picture of the man as well as the artist.
Well Byron would sleep with virtually any thing that walked lol. He is one of my favorite poets and I love his playfulness of Language and his ability to skewer leading intellectuals and Poet's of his day.
I'm a guide at Newstead and have seen him many times, one time I was reading a newspaper and saw him smiling at me turned and went up the corkscrew stars his limp was quite obvious and disappeared, great program by the way
As a bit of a Byron fanatic I have now listened to this multiple times. Thanks for uploading it!

Thanks so very much for this. I love both Byron and Melvyn Bragg. This is to be treasured.
