      @@DuncanRhodesDRPA Duncan, one time I was standing outside of nottingham with a few other people waiting for the sisters of battle limited box set to come out. It was freezing cold and we'd waited over an hour when we saw you get out your car. I shouted 'it's freezing duncan. Can you give us two coats'. You sort of looked our way, said nothing, then went into the staff entrance. A week or so later it was announced you're leaving.

    Hello all. Try this - Paint your zombie flesh bubblegum pink - then a full strength wash of Beil-Tan green / let dry. Then a full strength wash of Reikland fleshshade. The green wash will mute the pink and the fleshshade will even everything out. Your base zombie skin will now be a mottled pink/green/reddish brown. To highlight, take a normal skin tone and thin it down with the Beil-tan green.

    As a beginner painter I would love a new fresh tutorial video series on how to layer, highlight, shade, gloss, etc. That would be amazing Duncan, I find most of these on the WH site but a new fresh series with a bit more detail would be amazing. I know this is an older video, but I got to say Duncan you are an inspiration. When I first got into the hobby, I watched up SO many of your videos. Even on models that i don't use..
    I'm more of an AOS and fantasy player painter.
    But I always found your tutorials extremely insightful and helpful.
    I doubt you'll see this. But just wanted to out that out there.
    I backed your Two Thin Coats paint Kickstarter at the highest level and was even able to get in for the early bird.
    Could not press the help fund button quick enough. Even before asking the wife.. lol
    Eagerly waiting for my KS rewards. Even just bought a paint rack specifically for your paints.
    Keep up a the amazing work you do for the community.

      @@NecromediaNetwork That's a possibility, and Could likely be done with just a paintjob. From what I have seen of the sprue, the roots are extensive and the removal of them would require resculpting of detail such as folds in cloth etc. That is a lot of work for a horde type unit, so the easiest thing would likely be to use a paint job to turn them into something else, such as tenticles.

    As a non native english speaker, it took me a couple of times hearing it to realize that "smallayrbrush" (7:28) is not "small air brush" (which doesn't make much sense anyway), but "small layer brush". This is why enunciating is important. 😅 Of course it's shown on screen in text which helps a ton, though earlier on in this video it says "small layer brush" even though Duncan says and uses a medium one. 🙂

    Duncan, if this wasn't solely a skin tone tutorial would you still complete steps 1 through 4 on just the skin before moving on to painting, shading and highlighting the other parts of the mini or... Would you perform those same steps on all parts of the mini at the same time ? Just curious because I'm going to use your skin tones from this video on my Zombicide: Fort Hendrix, Zombie Soldiers miniatures and I'd like to paint them how you would do them. Thanks and 👍as always.

    • @DuncanRhodesDRPA
      @DuncanRhodesDRPA  3 роки тому

      You can do it either way. If all your base colours share the same shade then you can basecoat and shade at the same time then layer and highlight as you see fit. Otherwise just apply the basecoats that share the same wash/shade and then repeat each group of colours as needed. There is no right or wrong way just whatever feels best to you 😊
