    Ive been doing leases for the past few years. This year i decided to stay home and hunt public around my house. Im convinced 90 percent of the people hunting aren't a threat. Sure they can mess up your day, but they have no clue what they are doing. I had a guy walk by me opening day with an orange vest on. Unlike rendell. It was more early season pressure. During the rut they had already given up. Thats probably the plus to not living in a big buck state.

    I kind of agree with Johnny about luck. Every big buck I killed was planned that day before walking in the woods. The deer did exactly what I planned he was going to do and I killed him. If something was planned I don’t believe it’s luck. If that was so, ever accomplishment in my life would be luck. Don’t get me wrong, if you Willy Nilly walk into a new place and kill a buck…that I believe is luck. Another great one guys🏹

    Im 40 and it was my mid 20's before having a non wood stand set in the holler i hunted every single hunt 20,30 sits per year. You only know what ya know and tbh most in my region sw va still hunt this very way. 1 stand 1 spot with them and hunting buddies in designated ridge crossings or hollers! My mentor sit 15 years in a janky wooden stand he'd scab up yearly it rotting down but killed 1 buck 150 class wish i could put a pic on here. Big mass but point being that buck lived there he or we never saw it untill the day and id imagine many big bucks were there but after first few days of season they were on to us certainly. There were good bucks seen, shot at damn near every year opening day or opening mz where we had a 2 week break! It was hunting and we enjoyed it alot. Still love it but go about it with updated knowledge base and i have no stands set permanently at all. Its still stupid tough i had a 150 class on cam daily leading to season and thing turned ghost still not on cam never saw him. His running mate a big 8 just turned back up on cam and no one shot him its a small town id know! Excited for 24 he should be a giant or i hope and i need a revised chance for redemption.

    I have a friend of mine that got caught up in antler size he kept passing a super nice mature buck kept telling me that this deer is going to be a giant next year.but he never got the opportunity to feel the excitement of tagging that deer it was found dead on his farm from EHD . Growing up in Florida hunting public land I never had the opportunity to just let a mature buck go to the next year .my friend was heartbroken 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌

    I so sick of you going on and on about banning baiting but the first thing is on your video is a ad for food plot crap. Food plots should be banned. Your scared to debate the issue. Like I said I thi n k food plots should be banned and all states should be earn a buck and states should give landowners a gaint tax credit for allowing public access to there land.

    Love the podcast but I'm not sure how you can sort of bash gun season for less woodsmanship when most bow hunters in your areas hunt with corn piles.

    The whole hunting public land part of this podcast was interesting. It made me reflect on my own hunting situations.
    As a Western PA resident, the majority of us in this great Commonwealth only have public land to hunt on and the deer are pressured on an everyday basis. There is no real strategy to fool buck in regards to wind direction here because people are always in the woods pushing them in every direction. Amish where i live are yelling and knocking trees over, trying to put on drives at every angle of the woods. Majority of them dont even wear orange during gun season and just pop up out of bushes.. Lol, its very comical.
    A 100-120 class buck in PA is equivalent to a 180-200 class where you guys hunt because there is so much going against you here and you just cant pick and choose what to shoot and what to let walk.
    Even if you have your own piece of property, people still show up, ignoring posted signs and blowing up all of your spots. They brag about the 8th doe they shot and are still out there hunting just to kill something.
    I had a nearby neighbor on a riding mower just passing through a bedding area singing out loud because he saw my orange gear while in my tree and didn't want me to shoot "his" deer like he owned the property and the deer. Lol i dont know how many times game commission interrupted my hunts because of 1 or 2 people thinking i was trespassing a piece of property, when i had written permission to hunt, but all of these obstacles are what many of us are used to here.
    People who own or lease land are constantly chasing others off more than actually hunting.
    Now, you guys live in PA but hunt other states, which is great, and i completely understand why, however i want to challenge you two to take 1 entire season and hunt only PA public land where you cant bait and you have 100 hunters all around you that you have to outsmart on top of finding deer. Also, no cameras to show you what is out there.
    Would love to hear about your experience and stories on a few podcasts after doing so.
    Trust me, you wont run out of content and it will definitely make you appreciate those 100-120 class bucks again. 😂
    Love the show guys. Keep it up!

    Great podcast again, and the problem with Billy Bob walking through your public land set up over and over each time is how you get land prices skyrocketing and people being so territorial about hunting now they do not want to experience public ever again and so they go and buy whatever private they can get there hands on. Can you blame them? I can’t. Walked a bedding area this afternoon and was planning out some TSI and red osier planting coming up in the next few weeks. Gotta love the habitat work that takes place in the off season in order to mark the next one even better!

    • @HUNTRPOD
      @HUNTRPOD  7 місяців тому

      Bingo Matt. It’s a pure cause and effect scenario. More pressure because of more liberal season rules has created the demand along with other factors like outdoor TV
