    Flatbed. No lumpers, no waiting at grocery warehouses/packing houses, no 3 am appointments.

      As long as you love strapping and tarping when it’s 100+ F outside or 30 below 😅 DOT also love flat bedders more and gives them extra affection, I guess to each their own

    Thanks, your real world analysis was helpful for comparison. Two suggestions if you do something similar again - add rows for (1) wasted labor expense (at a hypothetical rate) while waiting to unload and (2) average daily sleep amounts. I'm assuming these data points would close the gap somewhat.

    Very simplified. Thanks for sharing. I like the part on a 2 year vacation. Lol Wish I could. Great statistics. You didn’t mention flatbed, is that not an option for your company?

      Thank you! We have never operated flatbeds so I am not familiar with what the numbers would look like on that :)

    Hello Miranda. Just found your channel and subscribed after binge watching most of your videos. Thank you for all the great information you provide with the transparency all companies should provide.
    In one of your videos you mentioned creating a website for your company. Have you been able to complete that endeavor? Would be interested in looking at your company for a possible employment in the future.
    Thank you again for the content and information and best of luck with your companies. Look forward to reviewing your website.

    What software or program do you use to keep up with employee payments and line item deductions? Like a document for their weekly pay. Thank you.

      I believe it's QuickBooks and ADP but you gotta check the tool I use video.

    • @TruckingMadeSuccessful
      @TruckingMadeSuccessful  2 роки тому +3

      I use ADP to run payroll, AirTable to create reports for the drivers to see how they are getting paid (detention, reimbursements, per diem, etc) and quickbooks to record the expense

    I was wondering if you can get us a video on Airtable . I got as far as you got on your previous video. However i am completely lost after that. It would be greatly appreciated.

    If you have a reefer couldn't it also pull dry van loads ? By just shutting off the reefer?

    • @TruckingMadeSuccessful
      @TruckingMadeSuccessful  Рік тому +4

      Sometimes you can, but many dry van loads cannot fit on the reefer. The reefer is heavier because of the reefer unit, so it can carry less weight. Also, due to insulation, the reefer has less space inside than the dry van :)

    Did you add washouts to the maintenance fees?

  • @ICYPROFITS
    @ICYPROFITS 2 роки тому +2

    I dont like reefer. I think most drivers don't like reefers. Way too much sitting around and unpredictable circumstances. Reefer fuel, lumper fees and maintenance stinks. Like you said though food is always needed. Dry van drop and hook is the way to go imo. The real money is in dry van drop and hook and I believe the big companies know that. I think the logistics industry will be moving into primarily drop and hook going forward. It solves a lot of issues with retention. We have to remember that no one makes money if the truck is sitting. Shippers and receivers also benefit from drop and hook but it will take time for them to adapt to it. Also brokers will be buying trailers. Whoever owns the trailers has more control of the freight. I have 2 dry vans and run auto parts to assembly plants. My truck grosses 11k a week almost consistently. A load will cancel every now and then. I have no intention of growing a fleet of truck but I do plan on getting my hands on as many dry vans as I can.

      @@ICYPROFITS doesn't matter if there are more trucks than loads. Reefer is the smarter choice. More waiting but more and consistent loads. Your situation is the exception not the standard.

      For some loads, but not all. Reefers are heavier due to the reefer unit and therefore can haul less weight. Also due to insulations, the inside of the reefer is smaller than a dry van
