    Despite having different UA-cam channels, I think it was pretty cool you got together with Paul to catch up on gardening stuff 👍

      I'll do some checks if I get hold of a brix meter. I believe the Hawaiian Supreme white sapote is a nudge sweeter than Kampong.

    I'm envious! 🙂
    I only started growing tropical fruit in 2019, when I tasted my first, ripe, custard apple, so as yet, only a mango seedling has given me any fruit, one mango! I bought it as tubestock from Daley's, so it would have been a 2019 seedling anyway.
    I grew a lot of seedlings from the custard apples I bought from Woolies, 9 custard apples in total, and just as well, I haven't seen a custard apple for sale since. I'm still losing some every winter unfortunately, but you give me hope! Some are only 5 inches, others 5 foot or more, but eventually, I hope to get fruit. The Cherimoya genes should give me some cold tolerant trees in the seedlings, and I also have two Cherimoya from Daley's.
    I've got a few White Sapote, but I've never tasted them, but one day!
    Keep up the good work, you're an inspiration to me here in Renmark SA! 🙂👍

      Well done with the mango! You have the warmest climate south of Qld, so you could grow a wide range of tropicals. Wrap the extra sensitives in winter with frost cloth and shade cloth in summer! :)

    Very nice, that’s so interesting with the American pawpaw, in Syd mine have just barely started, Paul’s is quite opened up already, compared.

    Melbourne must have much more mild winters than most people think. Things start early compared to where I am.

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  9 місяців тому +1

      This year's winter was the mildest in almost a decade.

      I have heard Melbourne may also getting warmer because of its size. All that concrete brick and bitumen are acting like a big heat sink apparently. An interesting read is to google heat walls 1600s.

    What do think is nicer. Hawaian supreme or Kampong ? They both look delicious.

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  9 місяців тому +1

      Hawaiian supreme is my personal favourite. Both are a top choice though.

    Where did you guys get the sugar cane?
    I’ve tried a purple sugar cane from Daley’s but it rotted out

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  6 місяців тому +1

      The purple one rotted for me too. Get the green one from a local nursery. I got mine from BAAG in Bulleen.

    if i keep my ice cream tree trimmed short, shaped and small about 6 feet, will the roots stay short? will it produce beans while short?

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  9 місяців тому +2

      If you want to keep it short, it's best to grow in the largest pot you can fit. A grower in Illawarra gets beans from her potted ice cream bean tree. ua-cam.com/video/jNvnP_id7R8/v-deo.htmlsi=Fmt5sBe-TqRxYD6I
