When Magma opens in the Gateway System in Mt. Shasta next year (once the snow melts), you should come check it out. The advice from the trail builder is don't ride it blind, stop to scout. There are some zesty features with definite consequences. Leaves straight out of the 10 Gallon TH.
@@dirtchurchmtb It starts at the new-ish 10 Gallon Trailhead off Everitt Memorial, in the vicinity of 5 mile (there's a sign on Everitt for the TH). You'd know if you've been to the 10 Gallon TH - the parking lot is massive. At 10 Gallon, there are two open trails (Bear Springs and Muir's Ascension). The top of Magma also runs out of the 10 Gallon TH, but it's been closed with bright tape for the past two seasons. We did some trail volunteer days on it this year so we got to see the features - lots of chunky rocks, some gap jumps, rock drops, etc. It's all covered in snow now and the Forest Service has to inspect it next year before it officially opens, but it sounds like it's on the path to opening. It's easy to shuttle, or you can park down lower (at the Gateway or McBride Springs THs) and pedal up Muir's to the 10G TH, if you want some climbing.
I love seeing you highlight our local trails! When the snow melts, you will have to do one for Sweepstakes.
Yes! Completely agree - hopefully it’s an early spring.
MXPX is a great band! Haha love the video
Haha - I didn’t think anyone would get the reference 😂
Nice riding the leaves were sketchy
Thanks! Yes, they were.

Is that the jump line that starts near the old 5 mile trail head?

@@reneecasterline that sounds epic! Can’t wait to try it out!
Where is Weinerville?
Ha, nice.
I managed to not go off the side despite it looking a lot like the leaves would send me the wrong way
The leaves were an active trail feature.
