Thank you guys so much for this review, I have been trying to find a review on this saw forever! You lucky bastards I hope they bring this saw over to the states as a Ridgid! I love Ridgid and have 20 of their 18 volt cordless tools! I have their 7-1/4" Brushless Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw and for my needs it fits the bill perfect and it will run forever on a single 5.0amp battery, I got mine on a sweet deal for only $180 and I got them to throw in a second 5.0amp battery as well so $180 for the saw and two 5.0amp batteries, score! It has taken over as my main miter saw in my shop now, I hardly use my 10" corded Ryobi single bevel sliding miter saw anymore. I would like to point out that this AEG uses the same base as my much cheaper ($135 on sale is what I paid for mine $189 regularly) Ryobi corded miter saw and the same sliders and same bevel adjustment it has just been made into a dual bevel it also has the same miter lock knob and miter scale so it was a little disheartening to seen them use a total Ryobi base and slider system on a much higher end saw, but at the same time I can't really complain about it because my Ryobi is an excellent saw and the base and sliders and bevel adjustment are all excellent even though it is a fairly cheap saw. I would still love to see them bring this to the states as a Ridgid but honestly idk if I would buy one because my 7-1/4" Ridgid miter saw cuts most everything that I need to cut. Honestly idk if they will ever bring this saw to the states because it might show up the Milwaukee 10" saw and Milwaukee is TTI's premium brand and for their mid range brand Ridgid to show up their higher end brand Milwaukee probably wouldn't be something they would want. Anyways thanx for the great review guys total thumbs up and you have landed yourself a new subscriber! =D
FYI you need to sign up on the AEG website or send the warranty card in to get the full 6 & 3 year warranty. It only takes about 5 mins to do but it is well worth doing for 6 years of warranty.
I like that you can use either 1 or 2 batteries. Means you can use 2 most of the time but if running short of batteries at the end of a day can steal one for another tool and still be able to use your saw
AEG, Milwaukee and Ryobi and all Chinese owned now, have you guys seen any technology sharing in similar tools of those brands? In years past AEG was German and positioned as industrial tools vs trade or DIY. I still have a corded AEG drill that won't die and it's nearly 20 years old. Most of my power cordless gear is Metabo (also German) I can't fault them especially the hammer drill and driver I have.
(Dwain) I can't help but notice a bit of tech sharing between them (oil impulses and nailers) but in Australia Milwaukee are quite seperate. AEG aren't a German brand here anymore, they are a little cheaper than most trade brands, but with a big trade warranty.
Sort of. Techtronic Industries of Hong Kong own Milwaukee. However, AEG Elektrowerkzeuge (AEG Power Tools) and Ryobi are still owned by their respective companies and they license Techtronic to make their products on their behalf. It means the parent company still has a say in build quality and positioning. That said, there's certainly some technology sharing going on between them all.
Has your opinion changed on this saw? I'm thinking of buying it as my old GMC 10" mitre saw has finally packed it in (gearbox) and I have a lot of AEG cordless tools.
@@OZToolTalk Dwain/Mike (or anyone else who can comment ) , I am looking at buying one of these b4 the end of June .I know we are 4 years down the track , but the AEG remains on the market as an affordable priced cordless mitre saw option ( for my pocket ). Would appreciate any comment that you are now able to make re the build quality of the saw , particularly in relation to doing some finer detail work such as mitre joints for say a jewellery box for my grand daughters . ie can they make accurate cuts ? or any other comments re long term durability . Much appreciated Mike
@@michaelsullivan4033 this saw is still being used today at the other site at my work. Granted its not a BUILDING site but its been there and used well in the maintenance sued for the entire time 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 (mike)
Hi Guys love the review since i have watched this video it convinced me to buy this saw over the makita and milwaukee cordless mitre saws, only a small thing did you guys find the electric brake to stop the blade wouldn't consistencely stop the blade instantly after pulling your hand of the trigger?
Brad Rowe great to hear mate ! Don't think you'll be disappointed. I did have it happen once and wondered if it was going to be regular but haven't had it happen again. Make sure to follow warranty procedures online to make most of Long warranty 👍🏼 Thanks for the feedback (mike)
Aeg tools come to the united states as ridgid tools but ridgid don't have a 10 in miter saw. I'm getting tired of waiting for ridgid to have the tools i want. I'm going to get a miter saw and a cordless table saw from a someone else and other tools ridgid doesn't have. Thanks for the review of the miter saw.
I have just burnt out my second saw smoke coming out were the second or back battery sets there is a vent just below ... I just use it for hobby so light dutes ,they work will but just don't last. will I get a 3rd No way
I bought this among a few other AEG tools for onsite, and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement! Initially I was happy with the range, yet having 4 tools fail within 7 months of purchase (including this saw which had the blade guard fall apart and nearly getting caught in the blade), I won't be buying AEG in future
Porscheshed wow that sounds really bad, what brand have you run in the past ? 4 failures seems extreme. Was the warranty process quick at least ? We are running full Aeg on one of our sites and it’s bommer !
I'm kinda new to cordless having to be on construction sites (previously retail installations) and didn't want the ongoing cost of tagging tools and carrying a generator around in the van. The warranty repair on this saw was great, 2 day turnaround, though I fast tracked it by dropping it off at the AEG nominated repairer. The other tools took more than 3 or 4 weeks, yet I need them to work, so I bought a few Ozito tools to get me by which actually work great and I'm still using over the AEG's. Their brushless impact drivers are just as good as AEG, or even quicker with the same torque 180nm, and their 4.0ah batteries seem to last longer. I'm also still using the emergency Ozito mitre saw too, though I only have to cut 90mm x 16mm melamine and light alloy hanging rods. My mate tried the Ozito brushless impact today then went and bought one as a spare for his Makita. I'll definitely be buying Ozito brushless again, though AEG I'm not so sure
I'll also add that I do wardrobe installations with drawer tower assembly and screwing cleats etc into gyprock, so my tools aren't exactly being stressed very much. I didn't want to spend a shitload of cash on Makita cordless etc when I changed jobs from retail installations, so I read up about AEG and thought that it would do for my budget. This Mitre saw is great to use, though it sucks battery life pretty quickly if you don't have at least 2 x 6.0ah batteries. I can get by with the little Ozito and one 4.0ah battery for 3 or 4 days, whereas the AEG I need to charge them every couple of days. I sound like a tightarse (I'm not), but these Ozito brushless are pretty impressive for the price and will keep using them till they die
I purchased a aeg mitre saw from Bunnings and the plastic “safety latch” seems to be snapped off... when I switch the machine on and push the button on the handle, nothing happens... is there another safety switch I am missing?
Justin Carter Yes it is the same, just differences in what come out where. Australia dosnt have the megamax system and no plans to come here. Just how it rolls it seems. (Mike)
18v doesn't have enough power to run these 18 volt saws, use these on wet treated timber or hardwoods then you'll hear the struggle your using them gently and slow on the jobsite they are animals and will kill that saw
I think it depends on your usage. I agree that they aren't a replacement for a chippy for house framing. BUT after framing stage, I think they are definitely a good option. Guys who don't use it all day, or are cutting moulding etc can love cordless saws...
Big Daddy We also can't win no matter how we test a tool sometimes mate, the flexvolt circular saw I reviewed, I copped it for pushing too hard. We do what we think is fair and share it out. Thanks for the feedback though 👍🏼👍🏼(Mike)

[Dwain] thanks for the feedback chevy
hopefully ridgid comes out with this i love their 7 and 1/4 miter saw
Very cool 10" saw Oz Tool Talk. I like it. Thanks so much for sharing it. 👊🏻👊🏻

[Dwain] that's very true, and is also true of getting the most warranty of the other manufacturers too (most commonly 3 & 2).

Great job guys. Thanks.
Our pleasure!
Last Year around Covid19 start. This Saw went of the Market in NZ cant found it anywhere.

If 700 + dollars is a little cheaper..it still to much !
Good gear costs money.
[Dwain] if each battery alone is worth $180-200 (most 6Ah batteries are), then I'd say $799 is very reasonable.

Just wondering why we can’t find this saw here in Australia? Unless I’m not aware of anything related 🤔🤔
Can you still buy these down under tool guy? I’ll bring one back in February if you can? Any tips on buying one at bunnings or something?
Hi guys great channel. Just wondering how this saw is holding up. Cheers
Where can I buy one of these in Australia?
Has your opinion changed on this saw? I'm thinking of buying it as my old GMC 10" mitre saw has finally packed it in (gearbox) and I have a lot of AEG cordless tools.
I haven't used it for as long time sorry. I don't see why it would though
I just spoke to my mate who has it and it's still cracking !! (Mike) def worth a look 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

How do I unlock the head please? I can see the head pin but it doesn’t move at all?

But unlike Milwaukee AEG used dual batteries which gives more power and rails on the outside which is better easy to keep clean

Is this a Ridgid Miter Saw?
Yep what we call AEG, you call Ridgid - for battery tools.
I have just burnt out my second saw smoke coming out were the second or back battery sets there is a vent just below ... I just use it for hobby so light dutes ,they work will but just don't last. will I get a 3rd No way
Bummer
How was battery life?

i probably won't work without the safety latch being pressed.
So is AEG the same as Ridgid? If so why isn’t this in the states?

Oz Tool Talk Thank you. So can we send each other tools we can’t get and will they work just fine? Lol
yep
completely died, no led lights etc, fixed under warranty but model before year 2020 have shit soldering so tend to fry easily.
My question is: Why is he measuring lengths when clearly, you're not using those lengths of timber for anything? Just cut through them.
shocking news, cos they WERE being used for a project. of course we wouldn't measure if its just test cuts :/
Measure twice, cut once
