Brian is doing a great job, trying to step into Trevor's role is no small task. Believe me, it's not easy to sustain that type of vocal through a whole hour+ show. Trevor is in my opinion the greatest American death metal vocalist of all time (tied with Dave Vincent) just because of his mastery of high and low range and seemingly-effortless transitioning between them- not to mention his intelligent and evocative storytelling in his lyrics which are more akin to short gothic horror stories. He also was largely responsible for choosing cover art and the general aesthetics of albums, so it's a massive void to be filling. We lost not only a great writer and musician, but a historian and lover of music. Hard to believe it's been a year since he's been gone. I grew up with this band and have loved them for over 20 years; here's to 20 more. RIP Trevor
@@zerofender Brian rules- one of the greatest rhythm guitar players and composers in the game and now in his 40s he's stepping up to one of the craziest challenges ever- he's like the Phil Collins/Brian Johnson of death metal. Hearing the solo in Sunless Empire makes me want to cry after Trevor's passing. My favorite solo of all time, so powerful and beautiful. I feel like there's a little bit of hope sprinkled in that shit that helps you when you're down. Brandon is the best. Glad to see him and Ryan playing together, best guitarists in metal.
What a beautiful tribute in your description. My first exposure was Ozzfest in the mid-late aughts...'06 maybe? I was a huge fan of recorded death metal throughout my teen years but had not experienced the full-fat live experience of a live death metal show until TBDM came around. They brought a certain fun factor to legit death metal in a way that really resonated with me at that time and continues to this day. I want to thank you for spending your time filming, editing, and posting this. I am so amped for Boston on Sunday and am going to let a lot of emotions out in the pit with my fellow metalheads. To my ears, Brian is absolutely killing it. He looks so relaxed and is going the distance at these hour-long shows. Seeing them live is going to be surreal. I thought for months that it was all over and honestly did not know how to deal with it. What a gift to be able to keep going with the boys while we all grieve.
Listen to any song from any album and it has their signature feel and sound. Few artists are able to achieve this. Obviously there are member changes, different production, etc but their songwriting style and overall appreach remain unchanged for well over 20 years now. The consistency is so appreciated!
Even before Trevor's passing, I've been wishing they would bring back Ryan Kinght as a 3rd guitarist. I'm so glad they brought him back, and Brian went to vocals with Brandon and Ryan on backups. There is no other way to do it. Hope they write a other album. Imagine Brian writing riffs and lyrics, lol. They got a powerhouse on their hands with everyone. Killer drums, killer bass, killer guitar, killer vocals.
He has done vocal duties on a bonus song on Verminous called 'Their Thwarted Patience' or something like that. Check it out, sounds really good. When I heard he was stepping up to vox I knew we were in good hands because of that song specifically... That and I know Brian is a very capable and hard working dude in general. Cheers! 🤘
I wish all the bands who sadly lost their vocalist would have done this instead of getting new ones from other bands, but then again not every band every member can scream haha But I'm so thankful Black Dahlia didn't get an outside source love these dudes
I love TBDM, Brian and his vocals but tbh I can't wait till he develops his own stage presence instead of moving around like a Ted Talk speaker trying to be a death metal vocalist.
Sick, thanks for posting this man! I’m glad they carried on, RIP Trevor. Oh, is the new vocalist related to Trevor at all? Sounds and looks A LOT like him. Edit: Oh wait! The new vocalist looks like their old rhythm guitarist. It’s him huh?

Hood5Six lol im sure Hate5Six wont like that name.. that guy always acts insecure and gets into little petty spats with fans online over nothing. But anyways, Brian Eschbach has been killing it. It takes a lot of guts to switch from an instrument you are comfortable with and move to the lead singer position which you are totally not used too.. and probably knowing that fans will probably always compare what you're doing to Trev's style.. those are big shoes to fill. I commend him and I got nothing but respect for him taking over the frontman duties. I like to believe Trevor would approve of Brian. I hope you're at peace, Trevor.
I love his work but he often does have that kind of terminally online style of internet communication where everything escalates quickly and there must always be conflict.
I appreciate his efforts but he doesn't cut it. I think they should have got a new person in. Somebody completely different from Trevor. Like how ACDC changed to Brian Johnston.
I don’t think that would have worked at all. The only person that could step into the frontman role is someone that’s been with dahlia since day one. And Brian’s the only one that fits those requirements. Plus, we get Ryan knight back
