Don’t forget he was playing in the hardest, most physical conference and did quite well as a freshman. I think his soft skills (high maturity, work-ethic, humility, character) add a lot, too. Extremely coachable. A lot of upside.
I love his fit in Memphis. We’ll likely hear a lot of “Ja to Zach!” play by play comment when watching Memphis. Seeing what Minnesota gave up for the 8th overall pick, i can understand why Raptors backed out of possible trade to get Edey home.
Can create his own shot, has good range and can play solid perimeter defense. It's cool, I wanted collier after knecht was selected right before the raptors got to draft but I'm not too mad at it
Also I remember how mad I was when masai too barnes over suggs.. look how that turned out. I know I don't know as much as any of these GMs and masai has drafted well during his tenure. Prayers for koloko and his ongoing health battles
going from drafting non shooting defensive forwards to shooting guards who are projects on D is quite the turnaround for this FO But I like the fit for Scottie
@@zaysview8095 that is pretty damn critical. OG was a very good pick he just got like 212.5. and while the rap's have been bad Scottie has been very good. Not perfect but 4 overall worthy.
@@zaysview8095 Scottie won rookie of the year and was an all-star last year on what most of us would consider a down year so like idk I think he's a good building block to start with. And the trade that involved poeltl to get us k.l and d.g also helped us win the chip so like he inadvertently did his part lmao 😅
This just isn't a very good draft class. There are players drafted in the top five that have major issues with their game, or don't have much for elite skills. At least with JaKobe, he has the physical tools to be a good defender, it just needs to click for him. It's going to be a wait and see how they develop type situation for almost everyone in this draft.
He can’t defend??? He is a 2 way player and can shoot. Looking just at stats is not the proper way to dissect stats. The “best shooters” efficiency wise are like Grayson Allen types… whom is shooting like 50% from 3, you know why? The star players take the doubles and leave them open so their “efficiency” is usually lower. If he was the focus on defence 35% from 3 is very good actually. For reference Jaylen brown shot 34% from 3 as a rookie.

Thanks for this. I am still a little sad that we didn't get Zach Edey.
He's a good player but I didn't love the fit with Toronto

Be happy for zach, he doesn’t fit the raps playstyle at all
The new pod is always fire
Vision 6'4 is alive and well 😅
Is Blake Murphy also a friend of the program :)
Yessssss the boys are back!!! 🙏

Who do you want 31? Bona or Mitchel please.

Good pick
I disagree with Flip, he'd learn from Kelly and we could play big. We may want a more athletic piece, but he's the best available
Is that a grown man surrounded by sneakers? 😂
Jealous much

I'll say his ceiling is higher than gtj. Because gtj is just that. Gtj. Rarely is engaged. No movement offball.

the asian guy has very little basketball knowledge. shouldnt be talking about something you have no clue about.

I am very disappointed in the pick...he really can't do anything other than shoot and he isn't even 35% at that. Can't defend or pass. :(
He is a solid defender though...
