Instead of assuming your parents are idiots try seeing it from both sides. Sometimes both sides lay it on thick which creates resentment and distrust in those with contrary views.
EDIT - finished watching the video. If you can't see the "grilling" Scomo is getting is a concerted media effort going into an election you are blind. I say this as somebody who prefers Albanese as PM and I dislike Scomo intensely. However it's obvious they are going after him, not just by the gotcha questions or truthfulness of accusations, but by the timing. It's telling that some people think this is fine because it happens to target someone they dislike. Just like how Right wingers are all passionate about freedom of speech now despite massive historical censorship and abuse of individual rights. If Sky news was as bigoted and one eyed for the Left as it is for the Right now, a big majority of those crying foul now would just lap it up. Realise that 75% of people on both sides are hypocrites and lack self awareness, and that neither major political party is truly honest or on your side.

Labor isn't perfect but they're at least not fully corrupt like Libs. However even Kevin Rudd had to play nice with Ruport Murdoch and when he did the right thing Murdoch didn't like that, next thing we had Julia Gillard.
Same happened with Libs, I never liked the Libs they always listen more to the people that fill their party coffers than the people that elect them. However the guy before Scomo didn't seem too bad, so he was given a swift exit by Ruport too.
Corruption, secret payments and media manipulation should not exist in our country or we'll end up like the USA.
Labor isn't perfect, they're slightly right of centre still and a bit slow to wake up to global warming but I think they're waking up more.
Greens seem to support all the most left ideals but sometimes too many and too far, need to start with the important stuff.
Still as a minority part of government they help them swing the government more left, except for the time they supported Libs.
However in the end you just need to elect good honest people into the government. I don't think I have a green in my area I trust, but if I do I put best candidate first, then other trustworthy independents, then labor, then randoms, then libs then after them the racist and stupid parties I'd never consider.
The Australian government was designed to have many different representitives enough to support all the different views of society.
Have one massive party that all thinks the same is not good. Having people squabble rather than cooperate isn't good.
We need to pay polititions less, then we'll get better polititions.
I still have faith we can change things with our votes but we need to get the baby boomers to pick a better party than Lib, force them to clean up their act. Major parties need to be smaller, people need to pick candidates better and the system will start working again.

how about we teach critical thinking and journalism in high-school so people know how to spot the lies and the liars.

@@psych0536 Shorten ran a terrible campaign though..he refused to meet with Rupert, the murdoch press hated him, he announced policies in detail and he refused to meet with Rupert. The LNP/murdoch press ran a campaign of The Bill you cant afford, conveniently omitting the fact that the LNP had increased Australias national debt 300%.
Debt is no longer an issue for the murdoch press, Scomo/Frydenburg have now increased that debt from 300billion to over a trillion - watch for that issue not to be addressed.

@@ck58npj72 Ok i will keep it simple. If the ABC does not meet its obligations under its legislated charter then the government should stop giving it money.
Maybe like all other media organisations they can fund themselves from advertisers. Maybe Holmes a Court and Turnbull can fund them.
That may not be too profitable for them considering their low ratings because people have stop watching the ABC.
