BTW you can play fire // ice in a keruga deck and still have keruga as companion. 708.4. In every zone except the stack, the characteristics of a split card are those of its two halves combined. This is a change from previous rules. 708.4b The mana cost of a split card is the combined mana costs of its two halves. A split card’s colors and converted mana cost are determined from its combined mana cost. An effect that refers specifically to the symbols in a split card’s mana cost sees the separate symbols rather than the whole mana cost.
I think the kiki-resto is probably too cute, but titania beats face. it being a two-card combo with the other half tutorable off urza's saga, or just cast for zero in the same turn, is pretty crazy; definitely much more achievable than kiki + resto in modern. both require 5 mana, but kiki+resto requires 4 mana invested the turn prior too, which you probably have to be spending not dying, wheras titania just requires you to play urza's saga on turn 3
Re: network troubles you mentioned towards the end of the first round -- I've found Powerline to be a good option for getting an Ethernet connection between different rooms, you may want to look into that.
In round 4: cracking foothills with Titania etb on the stack when you have no fetches in the graveyard is a potential play. Although there were no fetchables, might have been worth it for the elementals.
I've really wanted to try something with Titania, Zuran Orb, and Splendid Reclamation. If only we still had Field of the Dead (which thank god we don't, those games were HELL). Tie them together with a Blue splash for counters and Savor the Moment to get another turn and swing out.
in R3G1 the line I saw was: tutor titania off traverse, turn 5 just float mana with saga and tutor zuran orb, cast titania, win basically on the spot if they don't have a counterspell. but apparently, the "value" zuran orb can get it done too, and be more resilient to countermagic, so what do I know 😅
While it wouldn't matter in the first game of match 2, Blood sun is a combo/Nombo with lotus field cause it loses hexproof and you can destroy it with boseju. Wouldn't matter in the match but was an option
I just noticed during game 2 that Lotus field is better than I had thought. Have you ever played a Legacy league with it? Hexproof protects it from Wasteland, and if you use Blood Sun to try to ramp with it, while blood sun removes the hexproof, it also shuts off wasteland. I really want to see legacy games with it. If you never played with it, how do I donate a league?
Fires and Lotus Field is a bit of a nonbo - you go down on land count to cast and enchantment that counts your lands? I would expect one or the other, not both.
honestly i probably wouldn't enter a bigger tourney with the kiki stuff, more likely i'd just play jund. cute-flavoured tier 2 decks are my style though and what i have the most fun with. it can even just be the best game 1 plan in some matchups like tron. glad you enjoyed playing the deck!
keruga usually makes me think of respect the cat's elemental deck, but seeing the lotus field out of nowhere was wild. that brew looked insane!
I think it's an old Aspiringspike brew
@@AdmiralVortex lol aren't they all? I'll have to scour his channel to see how the deck fully plays

I can't imagine how it felt when split cards were Schrodinger's card when revealed by Counterbalance
Oh the days of Fire//Ice on Scepter.

1:09:14 “They have blue mana in their deck.”
*sad Zagoth Triome noises*
I like that prismari command was somehow an "Effect" when it was in the graveyard in round 1.
Yeah MTGO was doing that with all modal cards for a while haha
Cryptic command was too in the second round

I missed the t in the title so I went "did I miss a b&r announcement???"

Normally love watching the content, but seeing monkey in play gives me flashbacks...
