Love that Clay sees this as a play day. That reminds me of an old saying from my family that "the best vacation is a change of work." Just doing something different (especially if it is productive) makes for happiness.
Ah, Stihl, after my own heart! Where I now live most people run Husqvarna. Also I appreciate how Clay took that stump down to ground level. Hard day of work but well worth it.
Hells fire Ariel Clay and yerself sure are fast gobblers, hope that picnic lunch did not give ye both indigestion, really nice jog of firewood ye got yourselves there, should keep ye both nice an toasty when jack frost comes nipping at your ears.
I used to cut and haul wood up from the timber with my dad. He’s been gone 18 years. Wish I could have just one day cutting would with him. I’m 53 and lost both my parents now
I live in Northern WI. This is definitely lake country. Thousands pour into this area every weekend when it's not snowing to have fun at their cabin and roast some weenies. Many folks have for sale signs where people can buy a bit of wood for their weekend fire. The best sign I have seen is " Firewood for sale. Organic".
And as Clay tried to say, "It's a fun day, whether we come home with firewood or not". What an awesome guy to share life with, you were super blessed for him to find you Arielle and vice versa. What a great day out & load of firewood to boot 😅 love and prayers from Australia 🇦🇺 🤗🙏👌👍✌️👊👏🇺🇸
Heated our house with wood from the national forest for 13 years before switching to coal. My husband and I worked as a team much like you two. He felled trees, I marked the cuts at 16" , he cut into rounds, I hauled and stacked in the truck.
Amazing garden. Love the tiny home. Amazing teamwork. It can be done. People in L.A Calif. Should learn how to live off grid and get OFF streets! But I would be disappointed to see their filth in our national forests.
Wow, what a wonderful, wholesome thing to watch. Just two nice people getting some firewood, enjoying each other's company, and showing the beauty of their neck of the woods. Top shelf content in my view! You two are great!
Clay, I couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve been cutting wood since I as just a little guy with my Dad, let’s say over 60 years. 😮💨 I love the process and it’s good exercise, we too have always had Stihl saws and your right, the new ones aren’t as good. We heat our house and my shop totally with wood. Big savings on heating. Thanks for the video, loved it.
So, city slickers PAY to work out at the Gym to keep fit ; you guys ARE FIT so you GET PAID from doing your workout in the clean fresh air of the forest and mountains, by coming home with winter heating /cooking fuel. LOVE IT 👍👌💕
Firewood gathering is always a great workout then another workout when you split it. I have a 40 year old Stihl 034AV with a 20” and a 24” bar, still runs great !
Mutually beneficial projects, time together plus a good workout outside and in the fresh air, sounds like a great day to me! Those were some big logs you all were lifting, glad you are both healthy and strong!
My husband and I and one of our neighbors used to do this. Brisk autumn air, bright sunshine, and a whole lot of laughing. We enjoyed those days so much, and ended up with enough wood one year to last a couple of years. And the great thing was, we didn’t have to go further than the field behind our house. There was some untillable land there, and the farmer was gracious enough to let us take all the wood we wanted. Of course, we didn’t enter the field until he got his crop out, and always cleaned up behind ourselves. Great memories! I agree with Clay. Those were great play days!
I think that’s awesome about the permit to cut. I’m sitting in front of a wooded area watching this. I see 6 widow makers. Not sure if the town will cut them but they’ve been there a while. Thanks for bringing us along!!
Nice when you can get work done, do something mutually beneficial , have a picnic all in one activity. Ariel, hope you're protecting your ears as well as Clay is. Best wishes to you all.
I have a number of years of wood recovery and hauling behind me. And yes, chopping wood was second nature for many years. Although times have given me mobility issues - I was "right with you" during this video. THANK YOU for taking us along with you.
Oh my the memories this brings back. Back in the 40’s, I help my Dad get fire wood off the farm and we only had a hand saw😂. Clay and you are so good together. Thanks for your videos.
My beetle-killed lodgepole pine cutting days came to an end in the Medicine Bow National Forest in southern Wyoming came to an end when a gigantic forest fire wiped out the whole area, destroying billions of dollars worth of timber, posts-and-pole type sales, and habitat for moose, elk, black bear, and all the small critters I love to see in the woods.
Hi from northwest Florida! It was fun to watch you guys getting firewood! Today I been boiling up some fresh caught shrimp while planting seeds in flats in preparation for my fall garden, and watching UA-cam. I haven't had a wood burner for a few years since mine finally fell apart a few years ago. I bought it used for $25 in 1996 and it gave me good service until a few years ago when it began crumbling apart, it was an old Sears wood stove circulator, really great I could put huge whole log in a bedtime, close down the damper and it was still with coals in the morning. I recently found a good deal on a small oblong cast iron US Stove company wood burning heater that I could afford and I'm thrilled to have it! I don't have it set up yet but it's on my to do list to get done before cold weather sets in. Our local Military base has permits available for locals to cut firewood so I plan to do that soon too. I should have done it by now but heat, humidity and mosquitoes deterred me.
So good to visit if only for a short spell! Being prepared and getting projects done always feels good. Like getting your canning done, when you walk into the woodshed, you can't help smiling!🫖📚🖖🎃🐈⬛🐓
Such hard work but worth the effort for free firewood. I also wanted to let Clay know that I purchased some Old Amish Muscle Tonic awhile back from his video and have to agree it works like magic to relieve leg cramping! I don't know how but it works, but it's so good that I bought 4 bottles for other family members. Thanks for the tip!
Nice video. Liked the music. I noticed your short bio about Fy Nyth being Welsh. Way back in the late 1970s, I took an elective course on Middle Welsh in which we had to translate the Mabinogi Tales. Don't remember any of it today. The tales were fascinating though.
You live in a beautiful area--I was in the Star Valley near Afton for a month in the fall house sitting. Really enjoyed my stay there and we had a little snow while I was there.
That was a great video. I enjoyed watching you both do routine tasks. Also enjoying the frequency of videos now that the summer busy season has wound down.
Do you know if more of Wyoming was forested historically? In areas with more of a grassy plains looks, I'm always curious if that is because of historical clearing or if it's the natural condition of the land.
Are there restrictions in your state about moving firewood(trees) that has been killed by beetles or other infestations?I know a lot of states are trying to minimalize the chances or spreading some diseases and pests by limiting how you can move the contaminated wood, especially if it is an invasive pest.
can you see yourselves doing firewood like when you are in your 60;s, I got lyme now and man I just drag all the time takes me forever to do anything and now that I am over 60 O am so not looking forward to splitting wood this year . In fact last year I split it using a log splitter but I just did not hav eit in me to stack it as well
I'm very sorry to hear you have to deal with Lyme, I know that can be totally life altering. We both hope to keep doing this well into old age but you never know what might happen.
Think of the income you generated. Heating the home and shop is expensive. Running a big truck and a chainsaw is not free. Labor is not free. The heat generated by the fire places will, however, be the most pleasant income of your project. You’ll be in the comfort and glow of the fire, looking out at the cold. Hard to beat that. From northern Kentucky
My newer but old MS250 has a smaller gas tank than my older Farm Boss. So I have to fill it up more often. A full cord is 4 feet by 4 feet by 8 feet stacked. A face cord is basically one third of a cord. I have only ordered a hand full of wood on my life but only one load was truly a cord. Last year, I thought I would order wood from a couple sources to see if they would bring the correct amount. Both loads were short by a lot. One company has the wood cutter and splitter in one system where they feed a log in and the machine does everything. Then it goes up a belt and dumps into his dump truck. The other guy does everything by hand. But he stacked it at his step fathers before he delivers it. He not only did not bring the correct amount but he argued that it was and suggested that I was probably hiding some wood someplace. I don't think that guy was smart enough to do the math to figure out if he was bringing a cord. A real obtuse dolt. I wonder how they would like it if their oil delivery was short but they still got a bill for the full amount? So it took me a while just to fill up what was lacking from the wood they brought. Which makes me wonder how people like that determine what they should pay if paying $5. a cord on government land in Wyoming? Why aren't the loads ever more than a cord when ordered? That's a shame the trailer wrecked and the hay was ruined. But good that the fire didn't get out of control.
Love that Clay sees this as a play day. That reminds me of an old saying from my family that "the best vacation is a change of work." Just doing something different (especially if it is productive) makes for happiness.

And beetle killed timber makes fantastic lumber.
Yeah are just so cute together

Now THAT'S how you unload a truck full of logs!! 😅
Definitely showing this to my husband. It's a must-have!
A truck with a dump lift....what a time saver!!! Threw several truckloads on and off from my Dad's ol truck on your grid square as a kid.
Heated our house with wood from the national forest for 13 years before switching to coal. My husband and I worked as a team much like you two. He felled trees, I marked the cuts at 16" , he cut into rounds, I hauled and stacked in the truck.

Love the videos where you both are working together!
Enjoyed it! Love seeing you two together 🥰 Clay has all the equipment to make working so efficient.
Loved the big dump at the end!!
What a perfect match you two are! Love seeing you work together. Thanks for sharing!
It was lovely to see a peek of the view from our lot! So glad you got some firewood, and thank you for trimming that stump down!
Productive and fun at the same time! 😊
Wow, what a wonderful, wholesome thing to watch. Just two nice people getting some firewood, enjoying each other's company, and showing the beauty of their neck of the woods. Top shelf content in my view! You two are great!
I'm looking forward to seeing what this year's honey harvest is compared to last year!
Great video. The wood killed by pine beetles makes beautiful hardwood floors! You and Clay live such a wonderful, simple life.
The ceiling in my tiny house is beetle killed pine boards. I love the look and love that I put the dead trees to good use.
Wonderful and simple, but VERY HARD WORK. ❤
Was happy when I saw the truck would dump the wood.😅
Keep doing what you love
Picnics together- the best!
I've seen some really pretty paneling and cabinetry and furniture made from beetle kill pine.
I enjoy splitting and stacking wood. It’s relaxing for me.
A play day! How delightful. (But it looked exhausting to me!) Hugs and treats to Burley and Clay's dog.
Win-win for all. Glad you have a source to get wood from!
Hard workers
I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing Clay with us.
👍🇨🇦😎🌲🔥 happy play day!! 🤸♂️🤸♀️
Wow, three videos in such a short time. Thank you! Love watching you guys getting things done and having fun doing it. 😊

I thought the wood looked pretty with its blue markings and all caused by Pine Beetles. You have some good looking firewood there.

Big fun seeing the dump :)
Loved it! Best wishes from the U.K.
Love watching you, too, get firewood
Great to see you and Clay Ariel. Great job on the wood cutting.

And sleep extremely well!
Thanks for sharing a bit of your life!
My husband and I used to do exactly what you're doing every year.
Thanks I enjoy seeing the two of you together in your videos. It's always nice and relaxing

Wonderful togetherness‼️
Wood warms you more than once….
Reminds me of all the years we cut our own firewood! Thanks for the nice reminder.
You both are some hard workers.... impressive 😊😊
That there’s a lot of wood! 😊
Loved watching you getting firewood. I burn wood for heat but I buy mine already processed.
Beautiful day for wood collecting. It’s good that you have the a way that it can benefit you and your friends.
It`s a good life..
What a great haul of firewood! 💖
What a great team! It is so nice to see you both so happy, doing important work. 👍👏❤️
We do the same. Nice to see others doing the same. Be safe gathering all your firewood 😊👍🏻

Win, Win!
Did you change how you heat the tiny house? Good job. Beautiful fun day,.
Love seeing the daily work. You are both looking great. Good to see some of my former stomping grounds. I hope to come by for a visit in December.

When no one is home, their is playing going on(just kidding)have a bless day 😅😊🍁🍁🍁
Clay on the fuel efficiency for the saws are the fuel tanks the exact same volume for each newer and older saw?
He's a keeper.
That was fun. What a grand life. Thanks for the ride along. Why does my left shoulder ache now?
y'all are adorable...
Roughly, how many cords will you use this fall and winter?
You live in a beautiful area--I was in the Star Valley near Afton for a month in the fall house sitting. Really enjoyed my stay there and we had a little snow while I was there.
Thanks for posting! Happy winterization season 😅
you guys are so lucky, it's just beautiful!!
That was a great video. I enjoyed watching you both do routine tasks. Also enjoying the frequency of videos now that the summer busy season has wound down.
Subbed, I'm doing the exact same thing but in a stationary off Grid Van over here in the UK. 7 yrs now and absolutely love it ❤️
Love this video only thing missing is the pups!
My husband and I used to have a picnic every time we went after a load 46 years so far now we live in Wyoming and use coal
That's how my husband and I do it
❤❤
If you have the time Firewood is Fun ..//////

How long will that truckload keep u guys warm ? I havent any idea how much wood people use in home.

here in jasper alberta the pine beetle killed every tree as far as the eye can see

Hay fire drama, eh? Glad it wasn’t yours, sorry for the owner. Firewood is a lot of work. Wee Ed used to burn five cord a season .
