Over 10 years ago Karlee Porter invented and made wildly popular her signature style of quilting - Grafitti Quilting. Machine quilting has never looked so gorgeous!
Basically, it's a mashup of all kinds of unexpected designs in the same quilted area. But that's not all. Oh no! It also involves breaking lots of quilting "rules" to achieve a very unique, and extremely personalized look.
In the first edition of her book "Grafitti Quilting", first published in 2017, Karlee broke down her system into a step by step process that even non-doodlers like myself could learn to quilt.
In her upcoming 3rd edition, she has MASSIVELY enlarged on the printed content of the book, plus added tons of QR codes, linking to all kinds of in-depth video training.
Listen in as we chat about the new book, traveling the world, the marvels of digital learning, and much, much more.
If you can't wait to take Karlee's class, here's a sweet $25 off for you! Use the code SBS25

The quilt behind me is "The Mountains Are Calling" by Janet Nesbit of One S1ster Designs.

Great interview! QR codes are a great idea!!!
Thanks for such an inspirational interview.
Exceptional. I took Karlees class years ago and highly recommend it! Looking to taking it again!❤
What a wonderful podcast! One incredible quilter interviewing another talented and inspiring young woman/quilter/artist! Love it! Thanks for this interview! Really enjoyed this! :)
I am amazed how all of you share your knowledge with new comers like myself. I am continually growing from these videos. Thank you
What a joy your are Karlee. Enjoyed this episode very much Susan.
2 most talented women ! ! LOVE you both ! !
I signed up for the class, I am so excited. I took her original graffiti class and her hand lettering class.
Woohoo! It’s gonna be so good!
QR codes are brilliant! Everyone has a learning style, and she is opening up the world for auditory, kinesthetic and visual!! Beautiful! Wish I could do that class, and I would adore enlarging my skill with graffiti quilting. My absolute favorite!
Yes! They're a great way to add "extras" and options👍🏻
Thank you to both of you for a very inspiring video. The endless possibilities are mind boggling for this older brain!
Two of my favorites. Thank you ladies

Very interesting. Glad she mentioned her cheekiness on her instagram…because that was where I first experienced Karlee. While I definitely appreciate her gorgeous work and drool when I see what she does, try as I might, I found her very off putting. That may be her, but if that’s where I meet someone….its hard not to think she’s quite….how to say this? 🤔 prideful, privileged? Doesn’t seem the right word. But anyway, it’s nice to see the rise of her business & learn more about her development. Everyone starts somewhere.
Sometimes cheekiness can be an ally when we want to make a point 😄 Karlee is a fantastic artistic and human being, and her perspective and ingenuity contributes a great deal to the quilting world. Thanks for watching - we appreciate your interest!
@@StitchedBySusan definitely. I can be a bit cheeky myself! I do worry about first impressions. She’s a strong, outspoken woman with great talent.
Australia has Jen Kingwell ! She’s another awesome person to follow! I’m following you also?
Jen Kingwell is amazing!
Wishing you had shown us one of those graffiti quilts!
Karlee certainly has lots of photos on her website😁
Get a soft bound with spiral binding!!!
Yup, already thought of that😁
OMG Karrlee looks exactly like Kailyn Clark, does she play basketball on the side??
Not to my knowledge🤷🏼♀️ Perhaps wrangling small children is similar?🤣
