I bought a Baton Rouge 8 string with a pick up after seeing the demo, I also gt the Ukulele magazine for a club I play with. Thanks Matt.....I'm getting a Uma Acacia 30st and look forward to playing it. Keep on keeping Matt.
@mikesmith6493 Fab, thanks Mike 😊
I will absolutely be buying my next uke from Matt. Honest, trustworthy advice every time.
Thank you :)
Great to hear you play classical guitar style. It shows the versatility and quality of sound that can come from the ukelele showing there is much more to it than just strumming.
Thank you very much - and yes the soprano does seem to be capturing the imagination.
I love this Ace R65.
It imprinted on me since the first video you made about it!
What a unique sound.
I wish I could afford it!
Fingers crossed for that lotto win!
Love the Anuenue US soprano. Watched the brilliant Baz at got-a-ukulele review its bigger brother and was really impressed. I'm even more impressed, with the soprano version.
Great review Matt, thanks. 👍
I purchased a Millar MG-210L from you back in March of 2022 and it’s the uke I play most often. Just a beautiful instrument in terms of looks and of course sound. I’d definitely recommend Millar (and WoU) to anyone considering.
Thanks for this list Matt, quite diverse... Some nice ukes, very tempting. Still liking the Kiwaya tenor (with the low G) I got from you. Cheers Trev. 👍🤗
Glad you're enjoying the Kiwaya Trev. And yes, I like to cover various price points rather than 'just the posh ones!'
Very good video again Matt. I still enjoy playing the Flight Phantom I bought from you in person a while ago. I still can't find any fault with it and am always impressed when it comes out of its case. I bought a Flight Caribou baritone later and am impressed by the build quality and sound for the price they retail at. It is really nice to play both types and they have their own voices. I would highly recommend visiting your shop to try out a few and chose the most suitable.
Thanks, I am glad you're getting on well with what you have, and nice to have a tenor and baritone for a bit of variation, I agree.
Thanks Matt for a great video. I can't understand why the Uluru Nehe 2 hasn't sold, I think that it's a lovely sounding and looking Uke.
Take care, David.
I got the Uma from you last year which you recommended above the Snail i was looking at. I love my Uma. Now I'm waiting on my Flight Baritone. Really chuffed both are coincidentally in your top 10 for 2023 (or is it 2022? 😂)
Just the 8 to go to complete the set! 😉
Nice work Matt....not being much of a Soprano guy I'm surprised my favorite of the bunch is the Anuenue US-100. Keep up the work.
I wouldn't say I am either but I put that one in over the concert and tenor from that same series, so yes, it must mean something.
@@WorldofUkes I watched that and thought the same thing
Thanks Matt- I enjoy hearing these. The VTAB you mentioned was my first “proper” ukulele (after being foolish enough to initially buy a cheap Amazon model).
And those instruments that seem to combine modern and traditional - the likes of Singer, the Ace (Rimmer), and the new ANueNue models, as well as the Kiwaya “strummers” mentioned in previous top 10s, hit my sweet spot of temptation.
I’d love a steel string baritone too. And those Millar long neck sopranos of various woods are just so good.
Funny to hear you mention the Umas and their playability too. I remember as a fairly new player a couple of years ago coming into the shop and playing one, and you commenting I’d consistently managed to play the Bb chord without issues after I mentioned I struggled with it.
Anyway, always interesting to hear what’s inspired you over the last 12 or so months.
Thanks Paul - yes, no guarantee of a perfect Bb, but every little helps! I do love those Kiwaya Strummer series but thought I should probably give them a rest this time in case anyone thought I was sponsored by Kiwaya!
An interesting selection, as usual. I like that Baritone, as well. What I don't care for are steel strings, and so many baris have them. So hard on the fingers... I aways appreciate your Value for Money catagory, too. The Umas are lovely sounding. My only question would be why do your Best Of list in September? Something spectacular could come along before the end of the year!
The timing is partly down to when I've got the biggest number of my favourites in at any one time, and partly time to do it - the one for 2021 was in January, so actually more than a year is going by each time!
The UMA concert pineapple sounds surprisingly good and the price is very reasonable.
Thank Matt, got to appreciate your honest run down and what an array of Ukes, with reasoning why they make your top ten. Your opinion, as a specialist, is why I would only view a top ten from someone I believe as being a matter expert in their field and from a genuine guy who calls a spade a spade. Hope you are well and am sure there is food for thought for a lot of people viewing this. Quite liking the Uma pineapple concert. Better stop now, 🫣. Have a great week.
Yes, switch off before temptation strikes! I sold a couple of Uma Pineapples today so it doesn't look like you're in the only one who likes it!
Thank you very much for this interesting video, Matt. I always do like the information you give.
I would like to ask you what you could say is the most important difference besides the looks between the Anuenue AMM (I once bought from you) and the new Singer mahogony (which I'm very interested in). I watched another video some weeks ago where they showed that this modell is featured in concert and soprano size to.
I would say the AMM3 is more modern sounding - although it has some warmth from the mahogany there's more accent in the trebles - it sustains longer too. The Singer has a more vintage sound, more traditional, a bit warmer and perhaps a bit more complex.
@@WorldofUkes Thank you very much for your answer, Matt.
At this point, I might as well get a subscription for a monthly ukulele from World of Ukes...
If you get the ten, you can have two months off :)
WHAT!!? 😲 "I'm not that brilliant either..." ??! 11:54 *checks to see if any of my unlisted videos mysteriously made it to "public"* 🙈😅 (Oh, you said "if", that's Ok then 😂) Firstly the Anuenue US-100 for me... Secondly the Uma🍍abcdefg, thirdly the Ace R65 tenor, but I don't like these copious amounts of abalone. 'Leave the abalone alone!' 🤨🤌🏻 shared third place the Flight Flyerball 😆 Thanks for creating this list and, Ps. Love the bowler hat, Matt! 🤹🏻♂️
Ah, yes, IF is key there! I was being modest saying I'm not that brilliant - but I should have emphasised that 'if' in 'IF you're not that brilliant either' a bit more!
@@WorldofUkes Yeah, I got that after I listened to it more closely 😅 But still, don't you mean 'overly modest?' I would be so lucky to play like you do, it seems so effortless.
@@touchwood7180 The video is 50 minutes long... I filmed for 110 minutes and had to cut out 'effort' (i.e. all the times I went wrong!)
(It is I, Touchwood 😁) You are so determined to make me believe you're not brilliant, I'm not buying it. 😌 What I will buy from you is in this list. But I have to save up for a while. Who knows, I might get brilliant in the meantime
Hi Matt - any idea when the Classic - ST will be coming back in stock?
Hopefully January 2024... always a bit variable. I have the UK-30ST EVO still which is the same uke, with a different headstock still!
