lol I enjoyed it. You could tell she was trolling the entire time and it’s refreshing to see a celebrity home that doesn’t look outlandish just for the sake of it.
It’s funny because her house is one of the most praised homes. This is why everything is just an opinion and that there is no standard when it comes to personal style. Dakota is a free spirit, so that definitely reflects her house.
To me, the kitchen is actually a high point of the tour, because it looks more contemporary. The rest of the house looks like it was done in the 70's and she bought it few days ago.
This home tour came out a while ago before green kitchen and wood panel walls started being everywhere. But I still love it. It's subtle, cozy but stylish. I prefer this over outlandish museum like homes dripping with marble and statement sculptural pieces.
I liked her green kitchen too! I think that was my fave part (that she showed). I didn't like her glass dining table (but to each their own). Her living room looked nice but lacked color (IMO).
She's got a couple art pieces in the dining room I wanted to look at more closely. That wall in the dining room is the only thing in this house I'm wanting a closer look at. But points to her for admitting, even tongue in cheek, that AD styled her house for her and laughing about it
But Daddy, at least her house does not seem pretentious, while every one of AD features does. AD staged the crap out of that place. I think she is making fun of all their heavy handed staging, and it is hilarious. "I love limes and love to have random dishes of them everywhere", Daddy, that was just needling AD, without sounding too nasty. That her outdoor "lemons" are still green, and the oranges are perfectly placed and perfectly ripe, let's just say that just does not happen in real life. And that was a dig at AD for putting that flower arrangement outside her bedroom. She twists the knife when she says, we never had furniture outside. Just look at the grand outdoor staircase and the bottom is completely BLOCKED with furniture. Her green cabinets the lowers are different shade than the uppers, the lower shade is nice green and I don't even like green that much. Uppers, YICK. Those modern chrome door pulls, I agree, could have been a vintage style in brass or copper, and so much better. Those are a big fail. This house is not overly-designed, and I am sure a disappointment to you, but I have to say, it looks comfortable.
I love mid-century modern. Yes I'm here to tell u that ur wrong. I think interior decorators are just tired of it because it's so popular rn. It's popular because of the tacky decor we had during covid- with the gold plastic and clear everywhere. People seek things that look Timeless, natural& organic styles. That's why wood is really having its moment rn. I hate glass tables. She should have gotten different coffe& dining table. Something more saturated in color. Also, the rug could have been cooler. Use a rug that makes the coffee table and items pop. The rug& table washes it out& makes the rest of the home look underwhelming because of the expectations we put on celebs to have AMAZING home decor. She loves it, that's what matters. Sometimes simple thing like different rugs or tables- elevate the entire room. Mid-century, organic, modern- is my favorite style. With splashes of contemporary strategically placed. I love ur videos& ur style is cool. However, I wish u would go easier on celebs- because we shouldn't put so much pressure on them to get it PERFECT. Just because they have money or access. Just cuz theu act sing or dance- doesn't mean they want professionals in their space telling them where to put their lamp. Just saying.
Her house reminds me of the house plan books i used to look at when i was little (i was the kid who didn't give a thought to my someday wedding and prince charming, but i had about nine dream house plans in my head by the time i went to college.) It's boring, but i will give her props for not having an over-the-top ostentatious house so she can show off how much money she has. And hopefully, she returned the RFA (random flower arrangement) to the prop department before anyone missed it 😉#DontBeMeanTamarama 😊
Hahaha! I totally agree. It is very homey, and it looks like she actually lives there and loves the space, and at the end of the day - that’s all that matters 🤍🤍
I know you're criticising the decor. But it comes off as laughing at her, and her style. If you're confident in your advice, why not couch the criticism in kinder terms, and leave the disdain for when you talk with your friends.
Well, if you didn’t realize that she was ACTUALLY making fun of AD, that’s the point. Please lighten up, if you dislike something, then don’t watch the video. You don’t have to say the first random thing that is bouncing around in your head at the moment. You come across as being disrespectful towards this channel. Anyway, happy holidays!
The subtle snark that she was giving the whole way through was delightful. You could tell that when she gave the standard “I would really like you to leave” bit, she actually meant it 😂 The house itself was nice, but boring.
I think this house actually feels somewhat lived in. It’s not done way over the top. It actually feels kind of homey. I am actually loving the green cabinets in the kitchen. Lol finally some color in this house! Feels like nature is being brought inside. Really livens this somewhat bland house up. But, i do agree with you on the hardware. Chrome is honestly so boring. Brass or gold would really pop against the green and add additional warmth to the space. But wow. You could tell she was not into giving this tour. 🤣 It did not feel real at all.
HaHaha I felt the same when I saw it. You Have to review Chelsea Handlers Place. The house used to belong to Esther Williams. And Dakota is her Neighbor. Love from Ottawa
Okay, love the idea of bakeware and serving ware that show the food, specifically for holidays when we go all out and host a big dinner with everything from scratch. Everything served on/in simple, solid corningware really shows off the variety of colors of the actual food, and looks very homey and fitting to the occasion. However, I'm not a Michelin rated chef, so I'm not going to be plating food in a way that is super artistic, though i enjoy it. Im serving guests, and they usually like to plate their own food for obvious reasons, unless I'm making individual servings in like a ramekin or something. I find dining ware a great opportunity to be playful and whimsical, or just do something different that I dont have as a permanent, or even typical aspect of my home. I can put them away after dinner and go back to my usual style. Also, themed parties centered around meals can be a lot of fun!
Oh my! This is a great concept for a video! I’m a new sub, so far I’m loving your sense of humor with your awesome vibes that keep me watching your videos. Thanks for being so transparent with your perspective as it comes across as the opposite of her AD video! The limes!!! I totally remember the time when she had to explain to people that she was actually allergic to limes, and that she was actually surprised by all of the staging they did. It was like she was so high on life that she really pulled off the video, just something to giggle about. ❤
Hehe thanks for this critique & keeping it real as always! I am here for it. Would love to see your review on AD’s tour of Kirsten Dunst’s home sometime.
I'm so with you on everything you said. I do have an idea now. When I know people are coming over...I'm zip tying fruit to my fruit tree's that have no fruit...lol
idk it looks like she got everything at a yard sale. I have a lot of vintage and antiques but my house looks up to date. Surprised. I do like the kitchen tho.
Couldn’t disagree more. I think the bones of the house - wood and brick walls, tons of warm joinery (with lots of books, records and pictures, yay), floor-to-ceiling light with foliage beyond it - is so beautiful that keeping the decor warmly calm, textural and very homey is absolutely the right choice. I hate the flatness of minimalism; this is a really nice balance of simplicity and layers. It makes me want to nestle into it. (It also reminds me slightly of Ursula Le Guin’s old home. Lush.) I don’t think it’s bland; neutral linen seating would have been dullsville, taupe velvet is enveloping. The wood tones around the house (is it cedar?) are so lovely. As for being standard MCM - it’s a beautiful and beloved style for a reason. I’d live somewhere like this in a heartbeat. And as much as green kitchens definitely became overdone, I also think the kitchen is beautiful. (The planted limes were quite daft though. But hey, they looked pretty 😂)
Thank you for the call out on MCM. Which is now mostly just annoying in in its over exposure. If MCM were that great it would have never gone out of style the first time. It did. And will again.
I love her sarcasm. She's obviously telling people what was fake (staged) by pointing them out. I liked her outdoor spaces, I liked the green in the kitchen, but the house seemed to be missing something, but seriously I'd rather live in her house than RuPaul's overwhelming house. Her space is at least relaxing even with the see-through table.
Once again I agree with everything you say!! I am so curious about your opinion on Kelly Wearstler's design - I really hate a lot of her works hahah 😶🌫
OMG, you were right on point with this critique! Also, I too adore plates, so many beautiful patterns! I fullfilled my obsession by only getting the bread and butter size plate of a pattern I love, and yes - I have them displayed in my kitchen. Just hate taking them down to wash them, but I made sure my dishwasher will do delicates.
You really need to have a large kitchen to be able to display dishes, and her kitchen is quite small. I’m assuming it was styled for that moment like everything else 😅
I have a really small narrow kitchen. I display them across the top of the cabinets on that little strip that was used in the '80's. Good news is the cats can't get to them. ;)@@mrphoenixgrey
I like her kitchen but it doesn’t go with the style of her house. I would have expected some modern walnut or white oak cabinets. She was kinda funny, like she was sort of making fun of the whole thing.
YES!!!! Finally someone who doesn't like this house, too! People, really, REALLY love it and I know she works sooo hard on curating her tastes. But, man, this was such a disappointment. I will say this was done some years ago, before the green trend was everywhere and just as the masses were discovering vintage shopping. So, I think the hype of her house is simply that she is the first one people see like this. But, yeah, I see what you see. Thank you!
This video came out like 20 years ago, you should do newer AD videos. There are a lot of good ones 😂 Anyway, I love when celebrities like Dakota or Kendall have a standard bland rooms like this, it shows that they're just a usual human being just like us. I love her living room, maybe not too flashy but it looks peaceful
LOVE THE GREEN IN HER KITCHEN.... sorry man but agree with you , she needed copper or brass instead of steel Nope not going to watch her movie 50 Shades. Nup, never
Ok, the house is nothing. But the big question is does she have two gardeners??? The Front entry is 10/10 with the bamboo but that backyard??? There is so much dead grass and weeds and having the pool net pole laying on the bbq looks not AD at all 😂. Plus is that a small swimming pool or reflection pool?? Can’t tell at all?? She really needs a backyard makeover so bad.
It looks like my single, elderly aunt's house. She's a cat lady who loves thrift shopping at the Salvation Army. Nothing about this place speaks 'designer' to me. But it does look like a comfortable home that's very personal for the woman who lives there. I can practically smell it. It smells like dust and Old English furniture polish. And I promise you, nobody is going to want to inherit her crap.
Daddy, imagine if the dull tan velvet upholstery were SOME color as well as her dining chairs. Don't you think that would have saved the whole thing? BTW, you can stare at people's crotches in any room, as we both know. I have a glass table, and it takes 2-3 minutes to wipe it down. I agree, a little too bland, but a small splash of color would have made all the difference. This is certainly NOT AD's worst. BTW, DD, you are still flashing the pics entirely too fast, slow down or talk over them.
Good job. I don’t think she spends a lot of time here….maybe houses family. Where’s the fun parts? I think she goes out to other peoples homes more…or just does the basics & isn’t really into it. But that’s okay. She tried. A DO love her little green kitchen. But no pantry at all? Hmm.. 🤔
Well, your notes aren't professional to be honest. Thery are more like personal reflection. I'm an architect and I thought you, as a designer, will discuss the spatial relationships, colors, lighting or textures not making fun of her or saying random things like "it's not for me" or "i really like this outdoor", dude! for real ? this video is useless sorry
Dakota seems to be on something that is making her overly chill. She doesn't seem connected to the house at all. I liked the house but I was surprised by Dakota. I haven't seen the movie or many interviews so maybe I am completely off base and not familiar with her personality.
Too bland. The photoshop done on the photos make the rooms look better than the video. The photos have the colors more saturated and rich when in reality they just fall flat. 😢
It was bland, wasn't it? However, I sort of liked the green kitchen (at least, the shade as represented on my computer screen). It was better than my kitchen, anyway. The staged limes screamed "STAGED," but If it interesting that she has an allergy to limes but seems to be fine with lemons. Hmmm. I once saw a picture in a local home and garden magazine of lemons artfully placed up and down Tuscan-style stairs. I marvelled at the safety issues that would present. They were scattered on every single stair in an almost, but not quite, perfectly symmetrical way. But we see a lot of such garbage in homes featured in home magazines. We see massive, perfectly clean chefs kitchens with stone countertops and farm sinks. The owners always say things like, "The kitchen is the heart of the home," "a great place for family and friends to gather (as though they were a flock of birds), and "I love to cook" (when you know they can't boil water). Another common phrases is "for a touch of whimsy" to excuse something ugly that shows no class at all, such as massive portraits of a sheep's head looking down on guests or a Warhol print of a pouting Marilyn Monroe or Dick Tracey. So at least this AD home reveal didn't have that kind of art. No art is better than bad art, whimsical or not. Hmmm. But the house was bland, REALLY bland. Less junk and more color would have helped her bland mid-century rooms look more Brady Bunch-ish and less cluttered Japandi.
I have no idea who she is but the entire house looks like she inherited from her great aunt...lol I'd gut it !! No kidding. Did you say this was in Architectural Digest?? Shocking and Embarrassing....
Yesss, drag her! From a fellow interior designer, I'm happy to hear your honest unfiltered opinions. I was confused on why her home was even featured on AD.
lol I enjoyed it. You could tell she was trolling the entire time and it’s refreshing to see a celebrity home that doesn’t look outlandish just for the sake of it.
I couldn’t agree more, you could tell she was surprised at a few of the staging things and just went with the flow 🤣
The whole tour she’s like “y’all take this so seriously, and it’s just not” 😂😂😂 makes me want to put a random bowl of limes in my kitchen
I mean, I’m into it! Haha I love limes, but I don’t go through them often enough to have a whole bowl 🤣
It’s funny because her house is one of the most praised homes. This is why everything is just an opinion and that there is no standard when it comes to personal style. Dakota is a free spirit, so that definitely reflects her house.
I couldn’t agree more :)
However… it looks like every other “young actress who lives in the hills” home. They all want the “this could double as my grandparent’s home” look.
Anyway it is a beautiful house
Her commentary makes me feel like this is not her house at all All your comments are so on-point, as always.
Haha thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one that picked up on it, she was just as surprised as I was to see it all 🤣🤣
@@mrphoenixgrey 😂 the lemon fiasco is too obvious
Your studs!!!!!! Please sell to me!!!!!!
To me, the kitchen is actually a high point of the tour, because it looks more contemporary. The rest of the house looks like it was done in the 70's and she bought it few days ago.
You’re not wrong!
I only do white plates and dishes. My grandparents were chefs and taught me this… let your food be the art ❤
This is very true! I do like larger saucers for underneath that are fun and creative and leave the plating white :)

The stagers either forgot to take the stickers off the limes or they planned to return them after the shoot for a full refund. 😂
I loved her home!
It was very homey which was surprising for an AD tour 🤍
She's got a couple art pieces in the dining room I wanted to look at more closely.
That wall in the dining room is the only thing in this house I'm wanting a closer look at.
But points to her for admitting, even tongue in cheek, that AD styled her house for her and laughing about it
I found it hilarious! The random bouquet in the back yard, she’s like ohhhh, how lovely 🤣
Love, love, love her place, staged bowl of limes and all. Sorry DD, couldn’t agree with you less
The most important part is that she loves it 🥰

I actually like the layer of the brick on top of the fireplace and I generally don't like brick.
Y'all can't come for my girl Dakota. She's absolutely perfect.
The MCM architecture is stunning - but the furnishings and decor are a bit of a let down.
The home itself is beautiful, and very true to the California MCM, even with it being surrounded by bamboo is so gorgeous
You’re insane!! I love your channel but her home and style is amazing, unique and eclectic.
I agree....not the right color of green and every other room is bland. Colorless, lifeless, no drama, no contrast

Hmm.. 🤔
I love this home without her and most of her interior. The outdoor situation makes me sad. Lack of love and style…really sad.
Winston Churchill's yacht? Full details, please.
It’s like she had her hands tied to do this. It’s like she was forced but couldn’t care less
All I can say is $ 1.49 day!
Yes
Dakota seems to be on something that is making her overly chill. She doesn't seem connected to the house at all. I liked the house but I was surprised by Dakota. I haven't seen the movie or many interviews so maybe I am completely off base and not familiar with her personality.
Thank you. I could never understand the hype about this house. It's just so boring.
Half of these celebrities probably don't even live in these houses they're showing you.
You judge while sitting in the most hideous chair…irony! 🌈☮️
What is it with that chair? It's horrendous.
Decoder we all love wood !
Das war old, she had the Home new😊
Too bland. The photoshop done on the photos make the rooms look better than the video. The photos have the colors more saturated and rich when in reality they just fall flat. 😢
Right? The photos hyped it up way more 😅
No showhome🤐
You are amazing
Awe thank you so much 🥰🥰
4/10 really? That's very generous.
I know. I should have been more strict 🫠🤣
You should react to Nina Dobrev and Vanessa Hudgen's house!
I have no idea who she is but the entire house looks like she inherited from her great aunt...lol I'd gut it !! No kidding. Did you say this was in Architectural Digest?? Shocking and Embarrassing....
I feel like this was a forced tour, she seem d like she didn’t want to do it at all 🤣
Talk about being jealous!😂we see right through you!
4/10...generous.
Hahaha! 🤫 it looks homey, I’ll give it that 🤣
Her interior designer went out of business after he/she completed her house…sad
Omg really? I didn’t know this
I give the home a 6/10, but I give her personality a 2/10.
Never heard of her, doesn't seem well educated or polite.
Average, nothing special
Yesss, drag her! From a fellow interior designer, I'm happy to hear your honest unfiltered opinions. I was confused on why her home was even featured on AD.
You can tell be her sarcasm she was NOT having it. It must have been some PR team that made her do it 🤣
j'aime beaucoup votre chaine mais, je deteste votre fauteuil qui est pour moi le comble du mauvais gout
Hate your take. Great green
Hahahahaha!! I’m laughing to tears
I agree …. 👎🏽
Very boring house. Especially for someone who could afford interesting
