It seems like he said that dialogue when he ws suggested by hs dear one to change his methods n merge himself with the ways f the society. N at that very momnt he replies this emotion.

It's really sad to admit that films like Manto couldn't do well at the box office just because of many of us just have perceptions like bhaijaan is great or srk is great. But we really missing some very good films. Nandita Das and Nawaz Bhai hat's off to you guys for such a beautiful film.

plz elaborate the context at around 3.33 wer the 'ansar..' guy intrupts n Manto replies to change his name n then confrnt wit questns. I knw this is a concentrated summary f the superbly sculptd movie Manto, bt m finding dificulty in finding the meaning f "change yur name" phrase used here.
Moving to Pakistan can be said as his biggest mistake.

Each dialogue has a new meaning of life.
This film depicts that manto wanted acknowledgement for his work not in positive sense but critically by opposing his views. The greatest writers have written there best works after being disapproved by authorities. So manto might also have wanted the same kind of censorship caused by influencing people. If this is the case nawazuddin played it beautifully.

Please stop comparing Nawaz acting from Sarmad. Both have done equally good job in their unique way. Both have had justified the role. And This role can be done by any actor who has well devotion toward Manto soul. Comparing between these talented artists just reflects your belittle choices.

I think Piyush Mishra / Irfan would have done more justice to this role. Nawaz is fine actor but the clear urdu zubaan is some how not coming out of his mouth... he did well but it would have been more crisp and clear listening from piyush / irfan voice...

Saw Manto on Netflix. Lackluster attempt by Nandita Das who clearly lacks the directorial chops to pull off the immense source material. It has its moments however without necessary production values, the illusion of the time period created for the audience breaks constantly. Awkward, shoddy camera work, very poor sound design, scenes where she could have coaxed more performance from her actors are abundant in this mediocre attempt. She bit off a lot more than she could properly chew.
People praising Nawazuddin Siddiqui's performance may not notice the he plays himself in most of his roles. The writing does not match the character. The acting is not very well researched. What was Manto like? Did he speak in a certain manner? Did he really orate so flawlessly? Nawazuddin Siddiqui would probably play another character thats similar the exact same way.
