The Koolest thing I have experienced is JT Taylor chatting with me on twitter in 2020 about my Cape Town Table Mountain picture. That was amazing since I loved his voice and music as a Solo and with Kool & the Gang.
He is still popular in South Africa 🇿🇦. I wish can know that. Him as a solo and lead singer of Kool & the Gang music .

The first time I listened to kool and the gang it was in the early 80s the first song was Get Down on It at the
      swimming pool in Algiers, Algeria.
In 1985, I was offered an K7 of the album Emergency ...It was wonderful...Since that, I'm a fan.

@@princehakim4905 first of all Rip to your uncle. Yes, they were good in the 70s. They were nothing in the 70s compared to what they were in the 80s and that was simply because of JT. You can say whatever you want the whole world knows JTs voice. Your father and other instrument players are great at what they do. However they tried to take away JTs royalties, and kept him away from lifetime achievement honors. All except the songwriters hall of Fame who told your father and uncle JT must be there or Kool gang wouldn't be honored. JT is a legend my friend.

I don't know the other guys except for JT Taylor. He was the whole Kool & the Gang for me. When I was young around 12 years he is the voice and the face I recognised. I even thought he was Kool.
And i don't think I like these other guys, they seem bitter and nasty.

      @@princehakim4905 Ok.
I still feel it was a mistake for the dads not to take JT back and to exclude him on the awards ceremonies for Kool & the Gang. He really did put Kool & the Gang on the map. His voice , his looks and stage charm did draw lots of fans. Fact.
      I guess bitterness won.
Don't worry I still listen to all Kool & the Gang classics. Am going to stream 'God's country' now. JT's voice touch a deepest part of my heart. I can listen to it forever.
Well done to original Kool & the Gang for introducing JT to us. It was a blessing.

      @@princehakim4905 Not quite accurate.
      Interviews record everything.
      The losses, management, bankruptcy etc.
No he didn't leave because of solo projects. You know that.Ask uncle about band financial management.
Bitterness was there for his departure. No denying that.
      Interviews. No communication etc.
But hey, as I said , it doesn't matter what went down , the dads should have extended their welcome when the band recieved honors like star on the walk of fame etc etc. He really did a great job for Kool & the Gang. I listen to song that came out in the 80s when I was a child not even a teenager and JT's voice still creates the magic.
Having other singers live just killed the vibe for me totally. And that is not to take away the talent of those lead singers
Im in South Africa and K&G became popular due to JT. Yes the band as a collective did write beautiful songs but the man (JT) delivered them in a way that no one could have.

No business is perfect and management a band can be challenging.
And you know for a fact that he wasn’t invited to events?
By the way , the band just sold out 2 incredible shows at Hollywood Bowl over 4th of July weekend. The place was in 💥
Funny things is, Mr Bell and Mr Taylor are friends, chat on phone and respect each other. The business of Kool is booming like never before and that will never die 😊
I’ll prob delete this conversation as it’s not really my vibe to go back n forth with a fan.
The 70’s was the real shit.. 80’s music was great but kinda cheesy in my opinion. The 80’s stage show was amazing tho, I watch it from the side of the stage and learn a lot from the guys 💜

@@princehakim4905 you totally are running away from the real issue. Business had challenges in the 80s and the band was bankrupt due to spending what they didnt have according to the label. Members were forced to declare bankruptcy. JT had to take the option of quitting. The band should have been angry at the record label/management and not JT. He had to protect his family.
As for packed show , good for you.
I am one of the believers of the crappy or slizzy 80s as you put it?. AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT,THAT SLIZZY WAS THE BEST, more THAN ANYTHING THAT CAME AFTER OR STILL TO COME. Here is your history for the band in short- 1973-1978 rise to fame and low period. 1979-1987 JT Taylor and Commercial Peak.
I don't waste my time with Yoyo things. Hence I will prefer JT Taylor and therefore I stand with the fact that He brought fame and popularity to the band that was never there before. The band became an international sensation because of his voice and his looks. A combination that works in entertainment industry. So his era is still the best and that is what we know internationally. You talk about K&G we automatically refer to music with JT Taylor , Not The Other Way Around.
      That is a Fact.
Im not just a fan, I'm a person who chooses to listen to certain people who show great talent.
I choose people that I should take interest in. And it's not just anyone. JT is among that rare list that includes Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie and a few, very few that are greatly talented vocalists.
I'm happy that Mr Bell has finally burried the hatch and is communicating with JT.
I still wish the band had welcomed JT back and not waste years not communicating/ excluding him when receiving Awards he clearly participated in achieving.
I see your suttle shade , am not blind to it. You're just defending the band members. Thus making you a fan too.
