    I’m a pool guy that does a lot of plumbing. I’m not a licensed plumber, but I do a lot of plumbing when replacing old pool equipment. I started laughing at the amount of labor time this person put into this job, just to avoid using two elbows. In this demonstration, you wouldn’t even need couplings. 😂

    That might be allowed for a vacuum line, but it is not allowed in the plumbing code. No tapping are cutting of fittings or pipe. And sch. 22 is not allowed for pipes in a wall as a drain line, it must be sch. 40.

    Wow, I too am a plumber and I've read some of the comments. Give this guy a break. For a drain line this would definitely work, im surprised he even like the messages where everyone is ripping him a new one. It's just a cool idea, a possibility way for a do it yourselfer to save some money and a good video. It definitely would not pass plumbing code but how many of us have things in our house that don't pass code but still work i.e. no main breaker or arc fault breakers in our electrical panels. Good job on the vid, ignore the haters. Thank you for reading this.

    • @rhombo323
      @rhombo323 2 роки тому +2

      "Give this guy a break"
      No.
      He is showing people a way of doing things that is guaranteed to leak, likely sewage in most people's application of this type of "repair".
      There is not enough solvent welded area to create a proper seal in the event of a stoppage or back up.
      Plumbing/building codes in general exist for a reason. When not followed you are inviting unnecessary risks and issues to happen.
      Don't call yourself a plumber if you don't believe code should be followed. You're a handyman, and a poor one at that if that's your belief.

    When you simply DONT HAVE WHAT YOU NEED to make a proper repair, this gets it done.

    Cool idea but the thinwall PVC isn't beefy, must be outside low pressure gravity flow so large pipe to compensate? Not normal for residential water, maybe it's a vacuum line. With water, I would not trust for any length of time but cool to know. FLOOD DAMAGE is no fun, best to do all you can to make water lines completely reliable. The torque on that fitting could easily snap that connection in some situations.

    Probably because the code won't allow it, is my guess why a plumber may not do it that way

    That's more work than just cutting the elbows, and adding two new ones with a T.

    Plumbing in the third world. The electrical is done similarly - which is why my 3rd world wife is so afraid of electricity - she knows too many who have died from this kind of craftsmanship. After 12 years she no longer breaks into a cold sweat when I do a home repair because she knows I do things right.

    Those are vent tees and elbows. You can't use them for drainage especially the short 90 on the bottom, at least in my state. That's why they call this a hack.😂😂😂

    This would work to add rod stands on a PVC pipe fishing cart or for strengtheners on an all ready glued cart. Not a total waste.
