This is a great interpretation, probably the best I have heard of the last movement since Kletski. Svetlanov is sadly missed, I have always admired his musicianship which is superior to most of today's conductors who don't have a clue what great performances are all about. The playing of the Russian orchestra is far inferior to the Concertgebouw (Ashkenazy) but it matters little when the conducting is far superior! Could we have the rest of the symphony please?
I agree with TheVaughan5, the orchestra is good but is far from the smooth and warm sound of the Concertgebouw (The horns, the cellos !). nevertheless, a great interpretation.
so many little gems to discover listening to this whole work... what pacing, phrasing, and commitment !
Best version!

Does he play the finale cut?
cheers
I love this symphony!
This seems like an excellent interpretation, but you can definitely tell that the recording doesn't do it justice, particularly in the final climax.
