From a former dancer, this is THE most beautiful solo I’ve ever seen. She has so much composure and poise to execute this solo so well. Blown away. Also, would love to learn this choreo.
This solo is being competed as contemporary. Both styles can contain tricks & turns. Recently contemporary in general has become very acro heavy, and most contemporary solos contain a lot of tricks. This is closer to what contemporary used to be (like 6+ years ago). It’s definitely not lyrical. It’s not a bad solo, but I do think the choreography is too repetitive & doesn’t fit the song well. A lot of people find it disappointing because we know she’s capable of so much more (but it’s not her fault, it’s the choreographers).

I love her emotion, most people who say this isn’t good many of them aren’t dancers. more advanced dancing looks like this, everyone has an opinion and I’m not saying your’s is wrong, please don’t take offense. everleigh has grown so much as a dancer and I love this type of choreography as a dancer myself
Dance/acro teacher here... I see comments on both sides about choreo and see what everyone is getting at, but at the end of the day, the issue is not the choreo but the storytelling. This choreo isn't bad at all, but the storytelling is far beyond that of most soloists competing Junior, which is where things seem to fall flat. If this solo was given to a mid-level teen who had worked exclusively with the storytelling elements of dance and they had developed a "plot" for this solo, it likely would have landed much better, but I think for an 11 year old kid a roll is just "my teacher told me to roll" rather than "I'm falling to the ground after taking a bullet," which is understandable. I would love to see her do the same dance in like, three years....
this is ACTUAL GOOD CHOREOGRAPHY for once yall. this is DANCING and FEELING THE MUSIC, not just holding up your leg like she did as a mini. good job everleigh!
This choreography is very repetitive, & quite simple considering her ability (it also doesn’t match the music at all. Her isolations & movement quality as a whole do not match the song or ‘feel the music’). You don’t need to pack a solo with tricks for it to be good, but you also can’t just repeat the same few dance moves over and over again. (It’s not everleighs fault, she did the best she could with what she was given, it’s just poor choreography).

Costumes are usually made from a store bought costume and then they add details like Rhinestones or sowing it to fit the dancer, so this costume may not be able to be bought anywhere.😊
Guys, the choreography is not that bad. Talia is a great choreographer. Is it her best work? I don’t think so, but the main issue for me is the lack of storytelling and emotional depth. When I was a junior, I had a hard time projecting all the emotions with my body, and sometimes my choreography felt flat because it was far too mature for my age and knowledge. When you move on from the mini category to the junior one, showing hard tricks is not the main focus. As a dancer gets older, tricks become less important, and emotional execution takes on greater significance. Everleigh is an outstanding 11 year old dancer; she has a lot of emotion, but the emotional maturity and storytelling aren’t there yet. I think this dance would have suited a teen better. P.S: no hate to Everleigh or Talia, they’re both great
AND she’s still learning how to work with her growing body too. Kids in a similar age category in my organization, didn’t dance these emotionally challenging choreographies till they were maybe 13-15. The choreo doesn’t need to be very deep for her to convey a story, I think her choreographer rushed her into maturity too early. She clearly doesn’t understand the story of her dance or cannot relate to it and therefore it’s difficult for her to convey.
For everyone saying this is good, it is NOT. I've been in company and why would people want to just roll on the floor. She had like ten rolls. This was set up to fail but she proved she could do it. So give a round of applause for her!!
Yeah I completely agree. I am a dancer myself and all she did was roll. There wasn’t great choreography. Her old studio in California did a way better job with Choreo.
I love this! The only thing she really needs to improve on is finishing her movements, using her face and connecting more to the piece. Other than that it was brilliant.
She wouldn't last one episode on dance moms. She lacks so much technique. I mean come on. She's 11 and she's been dancing since she was 3 and she can't even do a full split. This entire solo was just rolling around on the floor. Sorry not sorry

This was a beautiful dance I think it’s lacking some emotion, however it’s normal for dancers in this stage to lack it. She needs to work on facial expressions and really feel the story behind, other than that it’s beautiful choreography, technique, flexibility and strength.
I’m really not a fan of this solo. The music doesn’t match at all. Her movement quality is harsh & consists of a lot of isolations, whereas the song is soft and subtle. It’s something she might want to work on as a dancer over a longer period of time, but now is too soon to be competing a gentle solo. The choreography is very repetitive. It’s nice that it’s not packed full of tricks like some of her other solos, but doing the same thing for the entirety of any solo is an issue (I’m not saying they should add more tricks, but a greater variety of dance moves within the solo would take it to a whole other level). The idea of the solo is great, but the execution could do with work (everleigh is a great dancer, I’d never deny that, and this comment is not hate or shade. I just know she’s capable of so much more, so it’s a shame to see her competing something that doesn’t show her true potential).
personally, i like the subtleness of it. sure, its's different to her usual and a tad bit reptitive- but i honestly loved this solo choreo because there was some new tricks and leg extensions we've never seen Everleigh perform on stage before, but they were subtly added. eye-catching - but not out of the blue or random. it gave this solo less of an unintentional jerkiness which some of her old solos sometimes had a tendency for. - just my opinion tho :)

the choreography she was given was great. it is by talia favia, a very popular and well known choreographer. her choreography values artistry more than tricks, and tricks aren't everything the older you get in dance 🤷♀️

The choreography is good but I feel like Taylor's songs are just not dance comp songs like idk but I'm usually able to make dances to moist sings I hear but I never can with Taylor's I'm maybe its just me🤷
Ev is an AMAZING dancer!!! But this choreo at the new studio is so much worse than her older stuff. Wayyyy too much floor work (even for contemporary), and this song is hard for someone her age to fully grasp the meaning of so it just feels disconnected. I miss her being at her old studio tbh-feels like she’s being held back
I’m a dancer too and I think I disagree. The choreography is different but it’s art and even if I thought it wasn’t good choreography I still don’t think it’s necessarily “horrible”.

Modern & contemporary dance are very grounded styles and involve a large amount of floor work. That is a huge aspect of what makes them their own.

The choreography is good but I feel like Taylor's songs are just not dance comp songs like idk but I'm usually able to make dances to moist sings I hear but I never can with Taylor's I'm maybe its just me🤷
Ev is an AMAZING dancer!!! But this choreo at the new studio is so much worse than her older stuff. Wayyyy too much floor work (even for contemporary), and this song is hard for someone her age to fully grasp the meaning of so it just feels disconnected. I miss her being at her old studio tbh-feels like she’s being held back

I’m a dancer too and I think I disagree. The choreography is different but it’s art and even if I thought it wasn’t good choreography I still don’t think it’s necessarily “horrible”.
As a contemporary dancer it’s the choreography is not horrible that’s what a contemp dancer will do.
It’s contemporary. I guess u don’t do dance if u don’t know that. That’s also really good for her age
