A lot of people compare Sophia to older dancers ( like age 15-16 & above ) & i personally think that is because she is so stunning & mature in her dancing at 13 years old. I heard that she was the only dancer to be in the same league as professional's in there 20s & 30s while she was 10 years old. She in my oppinion is the only dancer in her age catagory who can be compared to others because of her insane talent!
No one compares to Sophia. She is hands down the best 13 year old dancer in the country.

Sophia has always been amazing. All her solos are just perfect. The choreographer really knows how to show Sophia's talent off and has such a beautiful way of doing so. Sophia will always be my favorite dancer. Yes Tate, Maddie, Kalani, and a few other dancers are amazing as well, but I always seem to be drawn to Sophia's technique and quality in movement. She doesn't have to exaggerate her facials to make the dance good. It's her quality and beautiful technique that grabs your attention. Such a young but mature dancer. Congrats Sophia!

Exactly. Yet people are always bringing up facial expression when talking about sophia. A dancer should be able to express the emotion of a dance without having to make exaggerated facial expressions. Like you should be able to express sadness without looking like you're about to cry every 5 mins
I totally agree its good to have good facials but having super exageratted facials make it uncomfortable to watch the dance. Sophia does it perfectly
I agree, I think what sets Tate and Sophia from other dancers and dance moms girls is that that don't use their face to emote and tell a story they use their body, and that's shows such maturity in their dancing which can be very difficult.
Damn and she only 13 like she is hands down of the best kid dancers out there.

I would love to see Sophia do more solos like this. Her older style was more fun, sassy & jazzy but I really think she is best at the more creepy, technical & darker solos ( like this 1 for example ). This is 1 of my all time favourite solos by her, along with Pulse, Over the Love, Seul au monde, My Faith Is Your Faith & Requiem.

This was beautiful, the music, the costume, everything. Sophia murdered this dance.
Her dynamics are soo amazing. And the way she just melts into her moves, even the ones that require a bit of strength and musicality. She dances with such strength and subtleness all at the same time. I just can't get over the way she dances, watching her is like a slice of heaven. What a special dancer. Definitely one of my favourites.
Thanks for putting into words the feelings we share about Sophia. Most dancers will execute a series of moves or 8-counts, even put in facials at the right points, and it's obviously just that. I can enjoy a well-executed choreo. But sometimes a dancer reaches that level where the music, the choreo, the facials, the costume, even the stage, no longer seem separate or artificial, but all of one piece, and the audience forgets for just a few minutes, that a dance is an invented thing, and simply experiences it in the present. Sophia does that for me.

I Love this dance routine, Sophia delivers an enchanting, and mesmerizing performance. It just about makes me stop what I'm doing, and do nothing but watch her dance. Her biological father doesn't like this dance. But, none the less, it is I feel one of her best, and most popular performances. But Sophia has always been a great dancer for years now, every sense she was just a little girl. Sophia is an Awesome dancer. 😋

I don't know why this video was recommended to me. I don't know anything about dance, and have never especially enjoyed it. BUT, something about this dance I understood. All the comments say she's really good, and I think I can see what they mean.
Here's a little background. Sophia holds the world record for most continuous pirouettes. Her dad runs an investment firm near San Diego. Her mom is a competitive bodybuilder. Sophia is about 20 now and teaches dance technique to children.

Why i see people comparing her with Maddie ? She is so much better...
Thiago Lima because people compare Maddie to everyone, they don't do thst with any of the other girls from the show! They shouldn't be comparing her to anyone because she is a prodigy fo,more than being a dancer ,it's all the other things she has done in her short life that has the industry calling her a prodigy! She even admits that she is not the best dancer so why don't all you you tubers leave her alone! Time magazine voted her one of 30 most influential teens 4 years running now! The industry really has respect for her ,she has done more than any dancer out there outside of dance ! She bowed out of a movie offer to go on a world tour with sia, she danced for an hour and a half straight that's stamina almost every night ! She danced at the grammys! She's been on most talk shows more than once and T.V. shows and commercials! She was on Saturday night live at 12 years old, she has her own clothing line and 3 best selling books ,her first book was written up in Time magazine as one of the most intriguing books on the best sellers list ! She did these things first ,then all of the sudden everyone is writing a book and doing something with clothing ! She won a people's choice award against very amazing A-LIST actors, I was shocked when she beat out the amazing women from Orange is the new black! She won teen choice 3 years running now! She was recently signed by 3 different modeling agencies! She was in leap with a lead role ,so many amazing actors have been in animated film and say it's actually very hard to do! She did an excellent job ,and she did a great job playing Christina in the Book of Henry! It's not quantity but quality of the performances, and she was very good ,I was in the same situation as a young girl and she nailed it! She just finishing finished the movie with Kate Hudson where she plays a lead role as a autistic girl coming to theaters soon! Some people don't think she can pull off such a hard and controversial role ,but I have faith that she will have,done it tastefully and very good ! ABBY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HER GETTING THE SIA ROLE IN CHANDELIER, IN FACT SHE DOESN'T EVEN LIKE ABBY AT ALL ,AND IS PROBABLY THE REASON MADDIE HAS BACKED OFF FROM HER ! SHE WAS ON THE SHOW BUT SO WE'RE ALL THE OTHER GIRLS, SHE PICKED MADDIE BECAUSE SHE MADE HER CRY DOING SUCH COMMERCIALIZED DANCING! SHE SAID IF,SHE COULD DO THAT SHE KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL ABOUT HER ! SHE,WAS VERY RIGHT ,SHE WROTE THE FORWARD FOR MADDIES FIRST BOOK, AND IT SHOWS HOW MUCH SHE LOVES AND TRULY RESPECTS MADDIE AS AN PERSON AND AS AN ARTIST! @@kennethcole8403 all that you named doesn't make you a better dancer but makes you a more famous dancer. If you think that because Maddie has a clothing line, she has appeared in many music videos, appeared in magazines, etc. It makes you a better dancer, you know absolutely nothing about dancing. Sophia has better technique and elasticity, her releve is much better, her legs are beautiful... Currently I have seen how Maddie is losing technique, I don't see fluidity in her movements and her jumps (which was what I liked most about her) are no longer the same. If you compare a photo of her jumps in her last solo and one current (that the most current I saw is in the Ziegler's tour in January of this year) and we can see an unfortunate difference. If both compete in a real competition the judges will not care how many magazines you have come out or how many music videos have appeared, they will look at the TECHNIQUE, THE ELASTICITY AND THE EMOTIONS. I can say that Maddie is a better performer than Sophia but Sophia is a better dancer than Maddie.

Tate is still a queen, but Sophia is only doing self taught stuff now, and dancing in her own time. She's still AMAZING, and I love her, but she no longer intends on being professional.

Sophia has emotion, there's no doubt about it. I feel like people are constantly talking about how her facials aren't big enough or she doesn't draw you in like Maddie. Emotion, in my opinion, was Maddie's thing. It was what she was good at! If every dancers emotion gets compared to Maddie's, then all we're going to have is people complaining about how emotionless everybody's performances are.
Why are we bringing up Maddie? This video has nothing to do with her.

Replying to this was a great reason to come an watch it again. Great dancing by Sophia. I'm not sure what kind of dance could score higher than this besides someone really trained in ballet absolutely killing it with lots of jumps and such. She didn't do anything too difficult compared to her other dances but she's so flawless technically. I think she put up high score here and possibly one of her own highest scores. I don't know how maddie has put up perfect scores on dance moms when there's no way abby could send her out there expecting to beat this.

Your definition of what constitutes "dancing" seems too narrow. Do you not value contemporary style dances where you reside?
she needs better movement quality and versatility, being pretty isn't enough. especially in this solo she should've had sharper movement and a more chaotic feel to her movement, and there were parts that she could have been more sultry. idk if that was correct grammar lol
