    Hey Brandon, I'd like to add two more reasons to buy a 9' table: Most 9' tables have "deeper" and narrower pockets. The accuracy needed to pot the balls on a 9 footer will raise your skill level SIGNIFICANTLY. If you regularly practice on a 9 footer, playing on an 8 or 7 footer will be like shooting fish in a barrel. Add to that your skill level increase from being able to make significantly longer shots on the 9', and you will never have a "long" shot on a 7 or 8 footer. If you have the room and are serious about wanting to raise your game, buy the nine footer.

      powellsa I’ve gotta 9 Foot Olhausen Champion pro table and I can’t say enough good things about it! Get a 9 Foot if your serious about playing pool and if you have the space.
      Best decision I ever made 🎱

    I currently have a nice 9 ft pool table which is very nice..I had an 8 ft pool table before and I think people enjoyed the 8 footer more than the 9 footer...maybe cause 9 ft is harder to play since is longer and pockets are narrower? Thinking about selling 9 to get an 8ft table. We don't play professionally just for fun in my garage man cave...I think I will also enjoy the smaller table more than the 9.

    Always great videos, thanks much. My question is how much space is ideal between tables if you have more than one. We have six tables in our Billiard Room in retirement community. We would like 5 feet around each table (meaning 10 feet between tables) and 8 feet to walls (meaning 5 feet of playing space and 3 feet for furniture and people.) Do we sacrifice if we have less space? What is the ideal space and what is still acceptable? Thanks

    • @BilliardsDirect
      @BilliardsDirect  8 років тому +2

      +Alan Hahn If they're closer than that, it's no big deal. The main limitation to cramming the tables closer together is that if two people each want to make a shot on opposing tables and the shots are in the same spaces, one will have to wait. The layout you've got sounds ideal, but you could certainly get them down to be as close as 5 feet between the tables (instead of the 10 you've got now). If you have the space though, the layout you've got is great.

    • @rad5207
      @rad5207 5 років тому +2

      ElegyForTheMasses There aren’t any 6 foot pool tables of high quality. You would be looking at cheap pool tables that could very easily break as time passes. Also, this could depend on who is using it. It could be great for young children but not at all great for adults looking for a serious buy. I would definitely go online or look at UA-cam videos of 6 foot tables to see if it’s something of your liking.

    • @Vuk3
      @Vuk3 11 місяців тому

      Lenght is not a problem for you but width is
      8 footer will have 112 cm width of playing area, even if you use smaller 48 inch cues or 120 cm you are looking at minimum of 352 cm that you will need, but you also need ideally up to 15 cm from each side on that lenght to have a space to retract that cue while playing so you are going to need 3.82 cm of width to play with smaller 48 inch cue and you only have 356 cm of width...
      My opinion is anything above 6 ft pool with 83 cm width of playing area is going to be too wide for your room size, even with 6 footer you will need 48 inch cue and could maybe go with 52 inch
      But in either case your lenght is okay, you can even use 58 inch cue for those shoots

    • @BilliardsDirect
      @BilliardsDirect  3 роки тому +1

      If you install a 7-Foot pool table in a 16.8x11.8 room, I suggest getting 48" cue if you want full range of motion (not bumping into walls).
      48-inch cues are sometimes called "Juniors" cues or "Kids" cues, but they are suitable for casual home play.

    • @justingardner9683
      @justingardner9683 6 років тому

      Tables are built to fall in bca regulation height which is between 29.5 and 31 inches from floor to top of slate. However, I have raised tables for several customers with similar situations as yours. It is easiest to do with tables that have built in leg levelers, most of them have at least 3-4 inches of thread, so you can easily raise the whole table a few inches. If it doesn't have levelers, than you can still use 2 inch blocks of wood under each leg and then shim between the leg and the block to level the table. This can be done even if your table is already set up. It just may not be very pretty unless you take some time to paint or stain the blocks. You can hire a table installer to come in and relevel it, but you will want to provide the blocks.

    If you really want to get good at pool to the point where you want to compete you should have the 9 foot table.. when you play on a smaller one you’ll be shocked when you get to the competition table.. you will know how to hit the ball but how hard or soft.. how much spin etc.. it will all be off.. but just for fun.. go for it.

    Good advice. A friend had a 9foot table when we were kids long ago and I'm looking at having a house built and just remembered a proper house should have a pool table :) but I look around and it seems too many dealers try to bend the truth and pretend 7 foot is regulation size, maybe because so few have room for 9. fine to buy a 7 but dealers should not erode the standard.
