In 2007 I was once again travelling in my beloved England. As I was wandering through Dartmoor, I came across a number of wild ponies behind a hill. One of them was a white... - I didn't know about this wonderful film at the time.
Despite the huge commercial success of “Oliver!, in which he starred the previous year, “RUN WILD, RUN FREE”, released in 1969 when he was eleven, contains arguably Mark's best performance as a child actor. It's just beautiful!
This film is very well represented in my vast movie memorabilia collection. I have the original British 30 x 40 inches quad poster; an original British Front of House set of eight full colour stills; the soundtrack LP and single; the paperback film tie in book; two glossy 8 x 10 press photos of the film's premiere, with Mark Lester being presented to Princess Anne as well as the VHS video and DVD and the original three minutes, 270 feet long 35 mm cinema sound trailer, which I can't run because I don't have a 35mm sound movie projector to run it on.
Born in 1968, but this film naturally was played throughout the Seventies. As a partially deaf kid myself, with every fucker taking the piss, this film broke me. Always made me tearful and emotionally uplifted too. Sublime movie, and clever. Watched it recently, had me blubbering again. Only with more restraint this time, stiff upper lip. That sort of thing.
Lost in the fog with Diana and unable to see anything ahead or around except the swirling fog Philip's mind is disorientated and begins to play tricks on him and he begins to imagine and see things that aren't really there, (as young children are especially prone to do). Terrified by the reality of being lost on the moors in the fog with no way of knowing where they are headed or which direction they should be heading in to get to home to safety Philip begins to imagine and see his worst fears coming at him through the fog. The skeleton on horseback is a representation of death that terrifies him and makes him gallop ahead of Diana in a desperate attempt to escape. The skeleton on horseback is not real but is a representation of Philip's worst fears and it is his fear at seeing this hallucination that causes him to gallop on head and unwittingly ride his pony into the bog with disastrous results.
Assisti este filme em 1970 no cinema. A partir disso procuro por ele e não consigo encontrar dublado ou legendado em português. Alguém poderia me ajudar?

This is one of my most memorable films, but I still can't see the significance of the skeleton. Was it an omen of doom?
